@Shrdlu Ditto. Sensodyne. I’ve been short-capped in a few places that get tender. Plus, the tube was one of the first made to stand up nice in the corner with the big flat cap.
I don’t really give a shit about the flavor (tho I guess shit flavored toothpaste would probably not be good).
It needs to contain 5% potassium nitrate (I has the sensitive teef) and doesn’t need to be one of those super-whitening ones. Sensodyne (hi, @Shrdlu!) is way more spendy than the other ones for sensitive teeth so I rarely get it.
@baqui63 I’ve tried knock offs, and they aren’t the same (at least not for me). Not. The Same. There’s about 10 different options out there for this now, and I really miss the older version (it had a different chemical that worked better), but I don’t care about whitening or any of the other stuff.
I avoid the stuff with the triclosan (Crest Complete, Colgate Total, etc.). Research indicates that it doesn’t kill germs, or it kills germs but then leave superbugs. Either way, it’s unnecessary
The first is a prescription paste provided by my dentist. The second is over the counter stuff my dentist requests that I use. I have tooth enamel erosion. My dentist is working to delay the need for implants with these pastes and changes to my diet. Colas are bad!
I have been using a solution of Magnesium Chloride, known as Magnesium Oil. Brush and swallow, don’t spit it out. Too much to explain here just do a search and find out yourself.
I use Pronamel whitening (it’s sls-free), Oral B total care something or other, and listerine with fluoride, whatever the purple one is, and a tongue scraper. My favorite toothbrush, Colgate Navigator, had a really narrow tip with a rubber hinge thingy, so it fit really well around my back teeth, which are really packed in. And my favorite toothpaste, Tom’s of Maine SLS-free (I think it was called sensitive care or something) in fennel flavor was also discontinued. I don’t like mint toothpaste, but it’s hard to find sls-free toothpaste that has fluoride in anything other than mint or maybe cinnamon (also gross).
Why isn’t it teeth-paste??
@Pavlov The same reason you don’t leave feetprints?
@Pavlov - so people in Arkansas won’t feel bad?
Well played, @fucker
Sensodyne. I’ve been using it for at least 40 years. Before that, it was baking soda and salt. What can I say? I’m a delicate flower.
@Shrdlu Same. Sensodyne plus whitenening makes me a happy girl.
@Shrdlu Star for being a delicate flower

Sensodyne, BABY!
@Shrdlu Sensodyne Pronamel. No sls for this mouth. Keeps the herpes in check.
Regular, since those tend to be the best value.

Salt.
Trader Joe’s Antiplaque floride-free toothpaste with fennel, propolis and myrrh. Gosh, that’s sounds awful, but I’ve been using it for years.
You don’t need those fancy chemicals. It’s all a Big Paste conspiracy.
@Fish_Kungfu you’re my hero!!! You’ve got this figure out!!!
@Gaberyan2003 Haha! Thanks!

@GLaDOS I always wonder when it says “kills 99.9% of germs”… what happens when you repeatedly kill all but the strongest 0.1% of a population?

@awk
If you look at the asterisk note, it says that it “kills 99.9% of common household germ varieties”, or some variation of that.
Beefeater’s
Mentadent. Nothing else works so well.
@WINTERMUTE I like Mentadent too.
A bottle of Jack.
@FightingMongoos hahahaha…I was wondering was going to post Ke$ha.
I have to use stuff that’s Sodium Lauryl Sulfate-free otherwise I get to get canker sores… which suck-ass.
Prevident 5000 Booster Plus and Sensodyne ProNamel Daily Protection

@shortman When you do need implants, get them abroad. I saved over $20K by doing so, and got dental work far superior to what was available here.
@scotjack WHAT??? I need more info please???
I’m a terrible person and lazy so I haven’t actually used toothpaste in a couple years.
@Al_Coholic I’m almost afraid to ask, but does this mean no toothpaste, or no brushing at all?
/giphy no toothpaste
@Al_Coholic
That’s not bad as long as you still brush and floss.
@compunaut both for the most part but I do brush once in a while.
@Al_Coholic Won’t be doing either after a while.
@Al_Coholic #YOLO
Regular Crest or Colgate Whitening, with Sonicare toothbrush

Toothpaste is a scam Just brush and rinse.
@Fen_Star Yeah, soap is a scam, too!
#washwithwateronly
@compunaut hahahahahah

Whatever the person I live with buys. My mouth isn’t very picky.
Been using Theodent for a while. It seems to get the job done.
