In his “baby box.” It’s an unglamorous cardboard box that he’s been sleeping in for 2 solid years since we found him as a kitten. The fit has gotten much tighter but he’s still making it work.
Let’s see… according to my various sleeping cats: It’s their bed, their chair, their laundry basket, their lap, their computer keyboard, their windows… I an lucky they allow me to live here. Good thing they have trained me to give them food and scoop the dirtbox.

@Kidsandliz He’ll get in the basket too, but again, he’s kind of wary of being in confined spaces. I think he was worried that I was going to take the nightgown away but he looked so cute I couldn’t.
@Kidsandliz@Kyeh Plus, why bother taking it away when it’ll be full of his fur soon enough anyway? If he’s anything like my dog right now, you could make a new pet just from the fur that comes off when you scritch him a few times! Kinda like Pigpen from Charlie Brown, except it’s a cloud of fur. Oy.
It’s more of a tie between my bed and the couch. When I’m not home she sleeps in my bed. When I am home she sleeps on yhe couch. I actually caught her sleeping in my bed after work today. I guess she didn’t hear me come home so I went upstairs and when I flipped on the light she jumped up like she had been caught doing something. She’s a goof.
@chienfou I couldn’t remember for sure whose it was but I had been pretty sure I had seen the photo on here. I see you have been trained by your masters have relented and he is now an inside cat who goes out (along with his buddy).
@Kidsandliz
Yep. Since we put the “chip door” in they’ve been in and out cats. Bandit will generally come and jump in my lap while I’m reading the paper in the morning but spend the rest of his day sacked out on the couch back or outside. Even yesterday with the rain falling they were in and out all day. It was kind of a PITA since there were wet when they came in which made their fur stick to everything they brushed up against!
Mine sleeps in all the spots listed, but usually my bed at night and the couch or his cat tree by day. ALSO anytime I clear a space that previously had something on it, or put a piece of clothing on my bed, that’s his new favorite spot. But never inside boxes, somehow he’s afraid of them.
Currently, three of our cats have appropriated the patch of carpet between the chair where I’m sitting and the opening into the kitchen. Most of the cats sleep wherever they are when they decide that it’s time for a nap. Fortunately, they have all grown out of the phase where that might be the litter box.
I have cats- so anywhere, everywhere and all the above.
We had one cat though, a feral cat who adopted us, who wouldn’t sleep on anything soft. Only hard surfaces. 8 years later she now sleeps on the bed with us and has finally allowed herself to accept comfort from soft places… but for years it had to be the hard floor or a any hard surface.
@macromeh We had a black kitty whose favorite place to curl up was the black fake-fur throw on one of the chairs. She went invisible when she did that. We had to be careful about sitting there.
On the floor, preferably next to the beds. Especially the Pomeranian. She’s my little arctic fox and likes it cool. I brought back a moving blanket that they like to sleep on as well.
@Kidsandliz That is a painting of my boyfriend’s first long haired weiner dog who passed away 20+ years ago. This is his third. But they all looked very similar, red with black highlights. These two dogs are puppies, both 8 months old.
@Kyeh
yep. Bandit’s such a cuddle buddy in the morning. Wants to get up on my chest while I am reading the paper on the tablet and nuzzle/lick my nose etc. Then when SWMBO gets up and sits next to me he moves on to new grounds… He has a tough life!
@chienfou@Kidsandliz@Kyeh Liking us has its downside too.
I sometimes take a nap on the sofa. Our male cat McGee will jump up, land on my stomach/chest, then use me as a springboard to get up to the back of the sofa. Because he loves me so much.
(In case you were wondering, 18 lbs of cat landing in your middle does not make for a restful nap.)
@chienfou@Kyeh@macromeh even 12 pounds jumping from the dresser to the bed by way of your chest is not restful either. Especially if one lands on my port. That hurts. If I have warning I hold up a hand to block my chest palm facing the cat or roll over on my side. Then the aim at a different part of the bed. The 3am jumps are especially unappreciated.
jump up, land on my stomach/chest, then use me as a springboard to get up to the back of the sofa. Because he loves me so much.
I don’t think that’s a demonstration of love, just an opportunistic use of you as a nice springy trampoline. He probably knows you love the dog more so isn’t inclined to snuggle.
Right by my face using my glasses for leverage.
Rainbow Bridge
It’s more where will they not sleep?
And by my feet.
Either the in chair under ûnthe kitchen table. I on the other side.
My bed, If I’m there. Otherwise, Wherever I need to walk through.

@melonscoop Same box, same cat but 2 years younger and 9 pounds lighter:
@melonscoop lol That is so cute!
How come there is never a “no pet”, or N/A option for these questions??
Let’s see… according to my various sleeping cats: It’s their bed, their chair, their laundry basket, their lap, their computer keyboard, their windows… I an lucky they allow me to live here. Good thing they have trained me to give them food and scoop the dirtbox.
Although there are exceptions:
When there isn’t room for everyone…
Because why not… it might work as a bed
Of course our servant expects us to use this bed

Although then again how can this be comfortable?
And if you have dragged a pair of jeans to the floor from the bed, why sleep on the pillow you like to sleep on? (this was last night)
@Kidsandliz Mine dragged a nightgown out of a basket of clean laundry onto the floor :
@Kyeh Mine will usually sleep in the laundry basket if it is full enough. You disturbed her nap though!! Bad bad bad cat servant for doing that.
@Kidsandliz He’ll get in the basket too, but again, he’s kind of wary of being in confined spaces. I think he was worried that I was going to take the nightgown away but he looked so cute I couldn’t.

@ircon96 @Kidsandliz Too true!
It’s more of a tie between my bed and the couch. When I’m not home she sleeps in my bed. When I am home she sleeps on yhe couch. I actually caught her sleeping in my bed after work today. ![anywhere she wants
My little dog sleeps in my bed, or my recliner…right next to me. The big dog has her own bed…one of those canvas, above the ground beds.

The cats won’t tell me. They usually hide.
A beer tray box
Lucy has made a nest in the very back of my parents’ walk-in closet. It’s very cozy and sound deadening, so she goes in there when it storms, too.
If my daughter is home, the cat sleeps on her back. Even when she’s standing up. She has to bend over to let the cat jump up and lay down on her back.

And more stolen from the internet
Isn’t this cat someone’s who is on here?
Friend’s cat (the one people on the forum saved the life of)
@Kidsandliz
Hey… I know that cat! That’s how Bandit almost ended up with the name Potter!
@chienfou I couldn’t remember for sure whose it was but I had been pretty sure I had seen the photo on here. I see you

On the floor, usually either in the walkway so I will notice her and per her, or under the coffee table.

I put a bag o’ bags on the floor and Toby’s trying it out as a new bed.
My cat usually sleeps in between my legs on top of the covers…

Sorry, no pets at this time.
Behind the bed under the bookshelf headboard.
She thinks it’s the ultimate hidey hole, and takes her toys in there with her.
My old guy; sadly across the bridge now.
Pile of papers is good too.

@OnionSoup Yet another example of how cats domesticated us.
In the aquarium. It doesn’t work out very well anywhere else.
@blaineg With everyone else’s cat stories, I first assumed it was like this:
But a simpler explanation/guess is that you have fish. If so, I hope it’s only like the first half of this:
@blaineg @xobzoo I figured it was like this
@Kyeh @xobzoo Pretty much, but more like this:
Cory cats are fun because they are almost always very busy. My small school is a mixture of several color types and albinos.
@Kyeh @xobzoo I’ve also got an angelfish that I’ve trained to nibble my finger when he wants to be fed.
@blaineg @xobzoo What hardworking little creatures they are! What other kinds of fish do you have?
@Kyeh @xobzoo It’s a small tank, so just some neon tetras, and another small tetra who’s name I forget.
I need to restart the 20 gallon tank.
Anywhere that is not a pet bed, so I’ve quit buying them.
@clomer67 yep!
Our cats prefer to sleep on surfaces with colors that provide high contrast to the fur they leave behind.
@macromeh We had a black kitty whose favorite place to curl up was the black fake-fur throw on one of the chairs. She went invisible when she did that. We had to be careful about sitting there.
@macromeh @werehatrack Reminds me of this one:
@macromeh @werehatrack @xobzoo I love that.
This is good too:
@Kyeh @macromeh @werehatrack @xobzoo I actually almost posted that. Presuming that isn’t photoshopped it’s a great photo.
On the floor, preferably next to the beds. Especially the Pomeranian. She’s my little arctic fox and likes it cool. I brought back a moving blanket that they like to sleep on as well.
@Fuzzalini is that painting in the first picture that of your brown dog?
@Kidsandliz That is a painting of my boyfriend’s first long haired weiner dog who passed away 20+ years ago. This is his third. But they all looked very similar, red with black highlights. These two dogs are puppies, both 8 months old.
@Fuzzalini So funny and cute how they sleep with paws sticking up in the air.
@Fuzzalini I spy a Meh purchase!
@PooltoyWolf There’s two at least! The fly killer and the flashlight (which is kinda hidden in the back).
@Fuzzalini Yeah the Gloue flyswatter was my first thought, but then I saw the flashlight too and was like HMMMMM lol
@PooltoyWolf Also, the little box next to the books is a video doorbell I’ve never installed. Possibly the most Meh purchase in the picture.
@Fuzzalini I think most of us probably have unopened Meh purchases if we’ve been here long enough.
He has a queen sized bed that we occasionally lend out to guests…

@mediocrebot @werehatrack A touch of squirrel, maybe. Inplacassible, indeed.
Yesterday it was here…
@chienfou Happy kitty!

@chienfou And too bad cats are such aloof little jerks who hate us, huh.
@Kyeh
Yeah, I guess he didn’t get the memo!
@chienfou @Kyeh Mine may have been sent the memo but likely they will claim illiteracy so didn’t read it.
@chienfou @Kidsandliz @Kyeh Liking us has its downside too.

@chienfou @Kidsandliz @Kyeh Hey, I often offer to d̶r̶a̶g̶ take him along when I walk the dog but he always declines. Lazy lump.
