I eat fried chicken if heavy activity is expected; deep dish pizza, turkey or bologna sandwich w/ cheddar cheese & lettuce, soup/chili (winter only), muffuletta, tuna salad w/ crackers, leftovers…
Getting hungry now
I usually have what the chef at one of the restaurants I work for make me something. Chicken tacos, short ribs and potatoes au gratin, angus burger, wood fired pizza, or whatever house meal they make. I don’t eat often at work, but I eat well when I do!
I get shift meals at the brewpub next door that’s part of the company I work for. I switch it up. Today was a tuna sandwich, yesterday was a gyro, Saturday was a short day so I just had a cup of clam chowder, I had a burger on Friday and pizza on Thursday… Sometimes I’ll grab some sushi or something else from the foodcarts nearby.
I suck at packing lunch. Thankfully, I’ve never really needed to working in the service industry…
@Fuzzalini I gotta be honest… I am the guy that will microwave fish at work and not give a crap about anyone else. They can deal. So I stand in solidarity with your coworker. Let him know he has a friend.
@Fuzzalini@zinimusprime Someone who worked in a different department used to bring a can of tuna to work every day. She’d use the staff lounge to open the can, drain it into the sink, dump it on a plate, and throw away the can. BUT NEVER RINSED THE CAN OUT OR WASHED DOWN THE SINK!!!
I’m still WFH, so whatever is in the fridge and/or pantry, which is usually yogurt and muesli. Every other week or so I’ll order in breakfast for lunch.
We have Mom over for lunch every day, so that’s our big meal. Leftovers from that meal become my work meal (dinner since I work 2nd shift)) another day that week or get frozen for a future time at work. On the rare days there are no leftovers available I will make a sandwich or a big salad, grab a can of Progresso soup or sometimes eat out (there is a Little Caesar’s at the top of the hill a half mile from the ER). On the occasional days were I work a double (1st and 2nd shift) I will eat lunch from the cafeteria sometimes (if they are open (only open M-F) and serving something I am interested in). Still trying to use up the 12 meal tickets that came as part of my employee of the year package last Dec.
Banana or an apple.
Banana and peanut butter crackers.
Whatever is free in the work supplied snack area. I did not realize I could live on cheap ramen noodles for lunch over 5 years!
Either Ramen noodles or a ham sandwich, depending if my wife is around to complain about the smell.
@hchavers
Maybe check the “best by” date on your ham…??
@chienfou @hchavers Or perhaps shower more often…?
Protein shake ie soylent green in a blender.

What is this “workday” of which you speak?
I’m upset more people didn’t vote for the fish in the microwave option if for nothing else than humor’s sake.
@zinimusprime We have someone who did that at work and he hasn’t lived it down in months.

@Fuzzalini @Kyeh That’s gross. You gotta at least clean up after yourself. So many adults are overgrown children.

A protein bar and an apple.
I save my calories for dinner so I can sleep, otherwise I try to go to bed hungry and end up snacking for hours.
