What's your favorite part of Meh?
1Just curious what other Meh visitors are using on the site. I personally frequent the Meh face of the day, answer the survey, look at the sales stats and for some reason enjoy zooming in on sales regions. However, I have never watched the video of the day (don't judge me). What are the features others favor? What's missing?

I can't say it's a favorite, but there's something to be said about a website that's akin to a Hyundai Excel that sold for $4,995 brand new in 1986. A great price, lots of features, looks good, but the reliability? Just like the car, this site is endearing in its random breakdowns and the occasional (or often) need for fixing shit that shouldn't have broken in the first place but did for no apparent reason anyway.
@narfcake everything starts small and crappy. USA was a poor, weak, and unstable union at the start, but now it is a giant superpower.
@JasonKim So by that logic, I'll say YAY for meh, which will turn into an ecommerce site to be reckoned with in the future! But does that also mean an amazonbuyout.meh is the horizon too?
@narfcake Over @snapster's cold dead body! No seriously if he sells this one to amazon someone ought to kill him
@chellemonkey A little extreme, don't you think? If it wasn't for Amawoot, then meh.com would have never existed.
@chellemonkey I think that someone would likely be jeff bezos. I do like @narfcake's long term view here that the reboot could prove useful in giving us a second chance to do better
@narfcake I was obviously exaggerating and I have really been enjoying being part of meh.com and woot was getting a bit large by the time it was sold. I guess it would be ok if @snapster started a new project when meh.com starts to get boring. But at least next time you could make sure I get in on the kickstarter? make a note in your calendar 10ish year from now that I get a personal email about it!
@narfcake an 88 Hyundai excel was my first ever car. I loved putt-putt!
The drumsticks
How can you not watch the video of the day!!!! (you can judge me).
@EthanP I agree! I don't watch some (games of chance never thrilled me and I need to start from the beginning of possum chronicles) but the rest? I loooooooove them.
@EthanP Mostly because I am generally watching a show with the wife when I check into Meh and she hates it when I have additional audio running when the TV is on :)
@PWiddy I agree with her!
I will sound like a brown-noser, but I love the funny, creative meh staff and community most. Really, why else would I come here multiple times a day? I don't really need things. Honestly, I'd prefer to have fewer things. But I nonetheless buy things because I want to support the place.
@SSteve that sparks an idea for a different site. one that hosts single day auctions from the people that came the previous day trying to get rid of stuff. eventually it'd balloon into eBay I guess.
@snapster Aw, someone already grabbed buyersremor.se ("aw" canceled if it was you)
Face of the Day and order numbers.
I mean...all the cool stuffs! They're ALL my favorites.!
The 'e', though I do have a mild fondness for the 'h'.
Definitely the videos; and the write-ups, order 'numbers', community, transparency/honesty, and the rest of the above. And thanks, @PWiddy- I didn't realize you could zoom to county level on the sales map, that's cool too.
This forum is my favorite part.
I like the videos and the funny picture at the end of the slideshow.
I find myself enjoying the forums most of all. However, every so often there is an amazing video to watch.
JonT
@phatmass @JonT is pretty cool but I somewhat question his taste in beer. I'm coming to Texas soon (Houston, Austin, and Dallas), maybe we can change that. Now that @galmaegi , that's a stand up guy.
@RedHot I hope you approve my taste in beer.
@phatmass
I come here for the paycheck and that's it
@MEHcus wait, are we supposed to be getting paychecks for being here? If so, i donate my back pay to meh for tots. It's never too early to learn to manage your expectations.
It doesn't suck?
@The_Baron You're thinking of BBEdit
@SSteve Wich, apparently, still doesn't suck.
I like the transparency and that @snapster is not only a part of it but often drives it. (still looking forward to that open forum product supplier negotiation BTW). I also like the Koreans, they are hella fun (that is the first and hopefully last time I'll ever use the word "hella"). I've also grown to like the atmosphere of the forums, early on I questioned how much I liked it here. As Meh has developed that has turned into adoration.
@RedHot spoiler: the guy didn't actually own the speaker docks ðŸ˜
@snapster I suspected something was up with that specific case just because of the way it was brought up. I can't say that has deterred my interest in the subject any.
they pay me to be their friend. err...wait. i pay them $5 a month. I FIGURED OUT THE TRUE MEANING OF VMP!
@carl669 but gullible doesn't start with any of those letters ;)
I'm here for Taco Tuesday and Flannel Friday.
Wait... that's not a thing?
@dis_member Oooohhhh....Flannel Friday. I like it!
@dis_member One for Wednesday is my favorite!
@dis_member Taco Tuesday is, at Rosa's. Wednesday is Mexican Buffet at Blue Mesa. Friday's is Lingerie Day at Twin Peaks (so I hear, haven't been)
While there are parts that don't really keep my attention, like the sales map, I love the whole site.
The forums that are not heavily moderated, so our conversations flow naturally.
The creativity and humor! The write ups, staff posts, and videos all have tremendously talented people behind them, making us laugh or shake our heads.
The overall attitude of the staff. They get the job done, without taking everything supersrsguis. Especially customer support.
The deals, of course.
The passion. This place has inspired so many people to DO something! Even if it's silly. The MehTV cast, @Starblind's tall tales, @Barney's love of all things purple, @jrwofuga's long wait for something in Georgia red. The excitement that mediocre breeds is palpable. This, I just realized, is my favorite part of meh and mediocre.
I really can't leave out my perfect meh face streak. That's pretty awesome, too.
@Thumperchick Yet, you somehow left out what should be nearest and dearest to you: The goat.
@Thumperchick I love purple!
@Cinoclav The goat is great, I can't believe I didn't list it. I think that got wrapped up with the rest for me.
@Cinoclav @Thumperchick Who? bleat
Lately I've been spending a lot of time in the Meh Room of Shadows. It took me a long while to do all the tasks to get the required parts of the password--hell, it took me a long while before I even realised there was a secret section in the first place. But once I was in, WOW was it worth it. Of course I bought the special Blue Fukubukuro and it was amazing, but that really is only the beginning. The secret protected forum, the private videos including the one where they put a human skull in a bowling ball, it's all just amazing. And I'm going to be the first to buy the 2015 Meh Staff Swimsuit Calendar when they go up in December. And that's just a tiny bit of what's there. And the craziest part is I found the first clue totally by accident, I was trying to copy some text and accidentally opened the source code. Totally mindblowing.
@Starblind Jeez, I did all the tasks (remember the snorkel gear & TSA photo?) and I still didn't get the super secret access password. I got gypped.
@Starblind Um. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but what you found is the utility closet. Stay away from the blue fuku. Really. It's the toilet cleaner. Everything else is probably hallucination from smelling the blue fuku. You should really find your way out now. Or, if not, please fix the leaking water pipe in the left back corner.
I love purple.
@rockblossom Huh. I guess that would halp explain why so much of the secret content is breakroom supplies and dust.
I'm not a video watcher either. (Except for "Something went terribly wrong," which I saw many, many times in the last couple of weeks.) Not into the faces (my streak of not-clicks is about 90 now -- I haven't been counting -- but I still think Meh should recognize it as a legitimate streak). But none of us take ourselves too seriously and when we do we get pretty funny but gentle reminders. And remember that time we all rushed over to Ello to check it out and then decided we were having more fun here? Or when something just happened. I know someday we'll all bitch about the boring Fukubukuro and how no one ever gets bubblegum machines anymore, but I bet this will still be a fun site even then.
@editorkid Perhaps you'd like a bubblegum machine?
I do appreciate that there isn't any appreciable trolling. Whether it's because they haven't discovered this site, or y'all have really good moderation skillz to keep them out. Oh, we do get pissy and bent out of shape, but we do recognize it, apologize, and move on.
Real people don't do that. At least not very often. Thanks for keeping it civil.
My favorite part of this site is how much fun everyone is having. I feel like it's a social gathering at @snapster's business. We're all just hanging out, buying things, playing games, discussing life, the universe, and everything. It's the online version of a barber shop experience. I'm appreciative that something like this exists.
@DaveInSoCal ditto. I must admit I was a little bit lost when everything was down yesterday
I love when I buy stuff and it hasn't shipped 10 days later.
@givemeyoursoul Ah, the gift of anticipation.
@givemeyoursoul Having experienced shirt.woot not ship out an order for 5 weeks before, 10 days is nothing.
Something went terribly wrong.
The excitement of 11:59 pm, and then the disappointment (or lack thereof) of 12:00 am.
@Mofongo I for one am quite appreciative of being disappointed at midnight. But that's mostly just because I'm still waiting for my new credit card to show up so I can't buy anything anyway
the Tootsie Roll center
I heard they are going to be selling babies, for really cheap.
@theco2 And twins on Tuesday.
@theco2 What? They've figured out how to regenerate entire babies out of baby arms?
@Starblind Awesome! Taco Tuesday just got a little better.
@Kidsandliz Cloning is amazing!
All of y'all.
Many of you have already highlighted some of my favorite things, but as someone who's worked with online communities for a few jobs I'll honestly say that this is the best one I've ever been a part of. In the vast internet landscape filled to the brim with online communities teeming with trolls, hate, incomprehensibility, and stupidity, I'm proud of our community and that I had a part in shaping it and helping it grow (along with all of you).
So thank y'all for letting the majority of my job be chatting, joking, and BSing with you instead of warning, banning, and shaking my head as silent tears stream down my face into a coffee cup held by a shaky hand.
GROUP HUG!
I also genuinely enjoy most aspects of the site, I read the product story, click the meh face, and watch the video every day.
We love you too, @JonT ! Meh is awesome because of a lot of great people, and management environment that lets them continue to be awesome. Nobody gets sole credit, but remember: the community is awesome because you allow it to be. A lot of people are here because over time Woot's community moderation went from normal to a little twitchy to utterly insane, and the community left because they were either directly affected and got fed up with their awesome posts being deleted, or indirectly because the resulting lack of awesome made the Woot community lame and inhospitable. It was a tall order, but you gave all these people somewhere to come home to. The community is awesome because you've built an environment that encourages that rather than snuffs it out. So thanks, not just for being awesome, but for letting everybody else be awesome. Nobody could have done it without you.
@Starblind Sincerely thank you for the kind words, it makes my day when I hear that y'all are enjoying what we're doing here.
@JonT Thank YOU for not fucking it all up! :)
Oh, another favorite is that it isn't blocked at work!
No votes for Possum Head Chronicles yet? I love that series, it's so dark and slightly disturbing but with cheerful music. I had never danced along to someone stripping meaty bits off a skull before. Oh yeah, the community isn’t too shabby either.
Cheap crap and the chance at online glory.
