Technically, it was released late December 2015... but The Revenant is leagues above all of the other films in this list. To be fair, I'm a 20-something dude, so that gives some background information.
@jqubed Yup, I'm an old lady, haha. Only this old lady has a way higher kill record in Battlefront than the guys in my house. I have yet to master growing up.
I just got Battlefront on a May 4th sale but I'm kind of disappointed and glad I didn't pay full price when it was released. I don't like that most of the game requires an additional Xbox Live Gold Subscription to access, and the offline modes are extremely limited and quickly get repetitive. There's no grand assault across large maps with a big army beside you; one of the modes you're totally alone unless you're playing splitscreen. I see there's more content coming, but it will also require a recurring subscription. That's pretty bogus in my book.
I also don't like the flying controls, but I'd really just as soon see a proper Rogue Squadron game get released, not that I've seen any plans for one.
@jqubed I really couldn't agree more. As a result of the limited partner play, we don't play nearly as often as we expected. Basically, it's become our late night, bored with tv thing. I don't mind the flying controls though. But there should be so many more maps to play in. Although master is sure fun to see how quickly we can die.
Deadpool was great, but I don't really have any strong desire to watch it again. I wanna see Hail, Caesar again. Them Coen brothers know how to put together a movie.
@nogoodwithnames really? I left Hail Caesar wondering what the check was the intent of what id seen. I enjoyed the characters but the plot... well, maybe you could tell me what the point of it all was?
@upbeatanime Yeah, I've heard. In particular, every review I've seen about R&C from non-professional movie reviewers gives it a glowing review so far, so I'm looking forward to seeing it later today.
Civil War is fucking great, but Deadpool has my messed up little heart. Having seen both a few times already (Yeah, it's been out a week and I've seen Civil War 3 times), Deadpool still wins. I heart DP.
@jaremelz For most of them i just wait till the legal stream. And them put them on the to-do list and wait some more. I spoze my concience is somewhat happy that i'm not waiting for "the internet".
@f00l I can't bring myself to go any route other than the legals viewing. I do go to my fair share of movies in the theater. Usually the superhero and sci-fi/fantasy stuff though.
@jaremelz Yeah, happy to pay, if it's reasonable. Get really po'd sometimes on the pricing.
Theaters: star wars, lotr stuff, stuff i really really wanna see big screen (usually cool mindbendy stuff, sf, fant, gorgeous films, spectacle films that dont suck), stuff friends wanna see big screen. Mostly, just too lazy to drive to a theater.
I would sit thru a remastered, HD sound 2001 if someone would release it.
Alright, it's not being released to theatres now because Paramount chickened out of going against Zootopia, but I got impatient and bought the Blu-ray of The Little Prince from France (because it was in theatres there last June). It's a beautiful movie and wonderful adaptation of one of my favorite books (and how often do fans of a book like the movie?). Whether you're a fan of the book or have never heard of it I strongly recommend it, even if you don't have kids. Keep an eye out for whenever Netflix finally releases it.
@jqubed Netflix made Paramount a pretty penny on that deal, it would have stupid to pass it up. Rumor has it that The Little Prince is to be the Netflix theatrical release that the "theaters can't refuse" . . . but Netflix will demand simultaneous theater / stream release and theaters don't want anything to do with day-and-date movie releases on any of their screens. The whole thing is bullshit by Netflix and it robs the US audience of a brilliant film on the big screen (unless you saw it in Santa Barbara in February). Theaters aren't going to support any film that you can view for pennies on a 3" screen while they're promoting it on IMAX on the same day.
@Pavlov So I should be blaming Netflix and not Paramount? Because Paramount sure didn't seem to do any promotion for the movie. I never saw an ad on TV or trailer in theatres (not that I go to many movies anymore). I'd go see the movie in an IMAX screen, but I've seen it and it's beautifully done so I think it's worth it. I can see how that would be a hard sell, though. Maybe people would see it on Netflix and go to the theater for the same reason after seeing it once on the smaller screen.
I watched an old Cohen brothers film called "The Hudsucker Proxy" for the first time this year and I loved it.
The only film on this list I've seen is 10 Cloverfield Lane, it was okay. And I don't have any particular desire to see it again. I'll probably rent Zootopia sometime soon. The rest of the films: meh.
Lego Scooby-Doo: Haunted Hollywood....because well who doesn't love Scooby Doo (and it's the only movie I've seen released this year) (have to make sure the kids grow up with an appreciation of the good cartoons).
I saw a riveting instructional video on how to tune a Lustre filesystem. The production value was spectacular. It felt like they were really going to run a 1500 node cluster on it when it was done.
Heart of the Sea; or was that 2015? I watch so many... as for "mediocrebot wanted to know what you think 8 hours ago", check your syntax. I don't think in the past, I thought. Well, actually I was asleep so nevermind.
@regnowsin I enjoyed it, but it didn't really… go anywhere. All journey, no destination. Reminded me of Wes Anderson films in this way, though I ultimately enjoyed it more than any Wes Anderson film.
@brhfl exactly my feelings. And Clooney acting just like he did in "Oh Brother" didn't help. The rest of the cast was great. But when I finished I really wanted my 2 hours back.
Dang, I must be getting old. I thought "there's no way we're halfway through May and I haven't seen any movies yet this year." But nope, the last thing I watched was Star Wars in December.
"You have not yet seen any movies released in 2016" is so far the best one this year. Didn't watch any other movies from the list, but "Hail, Caesar" is intriguing.
Also, superheroes suck. Aside from the old Batman movies, those are alright. The new Batman movies though? I love Nolan otherwise, but the Batman trilogy he did is just awful. Bloody awful. From a brilliant director, who did masterpieces "Memento", "Inception" & "Interstellar".
@Hair_in_a_can Agreed. It was terrible. I can normally find something redeeming in a movie. I struggled with this one. Gal was good. But to reduce Doomsday to a creation of that awful version of Luthor, just no.
Deadpool is total awesome sauce.
Technically, it was released late December 2015... but The Revenant is leagues above all of the other films in this list. To be fair, I'm a 20-something dude, so that gives some background information.
@haflander As a 44 year old woman, I'd actually agree with you, but it's disqualified. That movie shook me for days.
@jaremelz You're 12 years older than me?!
@jqubed Yup, I'm an old lady, haha. Only this old lady has a way higher kill record in Battlefront than the guys in my house. I have yet to master growing up.
@jaremelz
Growing up sounds extremely dull anyways.
@jaremelz "Growing up is not the problem, forgetting is."

@haflander Deadpool is better
The Boy so far. Waiting to watch The Conjuring 2
Deadpool, but I haven't seen Zootopia or Ratchet & Clank yet.
@kazriko you're in for a treat with both
@upbeatanime Yeah, I've heard. In particular, every review I've seen about R&C from non-professional movie reviewers gives it a glowing review so far, so I'm looking forward to seeing it later today.

@jaremelz 7 hours and no response to your last line yet? Sigh...
@cinoclav This tshirt exists and I must have it.
@jaremelz https://www.teepublic.com/show/343804-i-heart-dp
I prob won't hit a theater till Rogue One, so I vote for that.
@f00l I do get me some solid girl-wood when I see Forest Whitaker in the trailer.
@jaremelz

@jqubed Blame capitalism.
I watched an old Cohen brothers film called "The Hudsucker Proxy" for the first time this year and I loved it.

@FightingMongoos The Hudsucker Proxy is one of my favorite movies!
@FightingMongoos - You know, for kids!
Lego Scooby-Doo: Haunted Hollywood....because well who doesn't love Scooby Doo (and it's the only movie I've seen released this year) (have to make sure the kids grow up with an appreciation of the good cartoons).

Hail Caesar was very disappointing to me. I loved Hobie, but the rest was just meh. When it ended the majority of the theater I was in all went "huh".
@regnowsin so glad I wasn't the only one who feels this way!
I am cheap, I netflix everything, so I will see them when netflix finally sends me the bluray.
Dang, I must be getting old. I thought "there's no way we're halfway through May and I haven't seen any movies yet this year." But nope, the last thing I watched was Star Wars in December.
@DaveInSoCal Yes, Deadpool was excellent.
Well, I haven't seen anything in theater yet, but I just got the Deadpool Blu-Ray, so that's getting watched when I get home at midnight.
@PocketBrain Stop what you're doing and go home right now.
@PocketBrain I bought it on Vudu a week ago and have watched it nearly every day since then.
@RedHot Can't. Then I will not have a job and will not be able to afford the electricity to run the Blu-Ray player and TV.
@PocketBrain cough cough?
The Finest Hours is my favorite so far.
It's not technically out yet (I went to an early screening last week) but The Nice Guys is a pretty great movie.
@stardate820926 I 'm glad to hear that, been looking forward to seeing that one but wasn't sure if it was going to be as good as it looked.
"You have not yet seen any movies released in 2016" is so far the best one this year. Didn't watch any other movies from the list, but "Hail, Caesar" is intriguing.

Anyone see Keanu yet?
Haven't yet been convinced to set foot in a multiplex this year. Out of the list, I do plan to catch up on Zootopia though.
@trisk I saw it. Way too little actual kitty, way too much just flat humor.
@jaremelz Aw man really? That's too bad. I was really hoping it was good.
@mehbee Yeah, it just felt really flat and the pace was kind of a wreck. I had moderate hopes for it. Anything with the kitten was good though.
I've only seen Batman V. Superman this year, hence why I haven't seen anything good in 2016. That movie is the reason I take shots of bleach.
@Hair_in_a_can Agreed. It was terrible. I can normally find something redeeming in a movie. I struggled with this one. Gal was good. But to reduce Doomsday to a creation of that awful version of Luthor, just no.
Haven't seen a move in about 12 years, to I probably won't have a favorite in 2016.
The film by the way is very, very good, I personally watched it http://putlockers.zone/ Beautiful site and quality excellent
