@gregormehndel Ditto on Latex and if you consider how long they last, they aren't nearly as expensive as they seem. My folks still have a Sears branded queen size latex mattress that they got nearly 40 years ago and it still sleeps great! . . . is there even such a thing as non-virgin Latex?
Waterbed! And none of those waveless fauxs either.. Helped my back when I needed it, now I can't find any more (old school). Would get this but only need twin, don't have the room for a queen.
@MsELizardBeth .. Never got used to the wave, did they? Once you get used to that movement and learn how to dismount it becomes a life saver (at least it was for me).
@cercopithecoid hmm what about a bug chunk of precambrian shield rock where the closed cell foam is a lifejacket with a zipper? Spent way too many summers sleeping like that...
I personally despise foam toppers, memory foam, etc. But others will love it. I would suggest, if there is more than one bed in the apartment, using two different types
The Tempurpedic mattresses are now only a 10 year warranty. They should still last longer than a typical mattress, but the warranty no longer reflects that.
2)Serta mattresses http://jonsguide.org/best-top-serta-perfect-sleeper-reviews/are aiming for the higher end than they used to. Their new iSeries and iComfort mattresses are pretty high quality. Conversely, the Stearns and Foster mattresses tend to be a bit overpriced for what you get, and get low ratings on both Consumer Reports and Sleep Like The Dead.
Any mattress I happen to be sleeping on at any given time is my favorite. Just let me sleep.
@Pavlov I was absolutely just thinking this
Millie
By mattress, you mean 'workbench; right?
@TheCO2 you don't know how to spell - either that or need a dictionary.
Virgin latex. Expensive. Worth every penny.

@Oldfeet Is a mattress still a virgin after a couple with children sleep on it for 40 years?

@unkabob i HAVE an old school king size waterbed mattress in the building in the back. Killed mom's back and dad's knee.

Plywood. Closed cell foam for when I feel like a bit of luxurious living.

Hey, how different is Neoprene from foam? Because I just got a great idea . . .
Buckwheat hull.
Hair
@cazwell3 I hear hair makes good tampons too...
Whatever kind Jane Fonda was rolling around on in the opening of Barbarella. Am I right, eh?
Rubber/latex which lasts forever. Very hard to locate local source.
Oil resistant.
