@jsh139
Fun fact: Since we have no satellites outside of the Milky Way Galaxy, we cannot take photographs of it. Most images are artists’ renderings or images of other nearby galaxies, such as Andromeda and NGC 6744 (pictured here). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/NGC_6744
@jsh139 Yeah, before saw the actual choices on the poll, I was saying it has to be “Milky Way” because (other than Andromeda) it is the only galaxy I can name.
My wife’s family’s car when she was growing up was a Galaxie 500 named Moby.
And I’m surprised you left out OpenVMS Galaxy architecture. It was awesome but the twits at Compaq/HP who couldn’t spell anything but windows made sure it never went anywhere.
Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is my all time favorite book series. That being said, my '66 Galaxie 500 has to be my favorite. I’ve had it since high school and the bench seats are the size of twin mattresses.
@rockblossom it’s just a dwarf galaxy in the local group… That if memory serves doesn’t really match up to any real galaxies in our 'hood.
And wow, Stargate ships built with current tech( with alien influence/design help) traveled faster and farther than Trek ever did… All of Star Trek was within the milky way, even Voyager was just cast to the far end of the galaxy, with estimated 75 years at maximum warp to get back to sector 001(earth)
Meanwhile the Daedalus, Odyssey, Apollo, and Sun Tzu, took about 2 weeks to cross the intergalactic void. ( I didn’t forget the others, korolev was destroyed by the Ori on its maiden flight, and the George Hammond was tasked with “Homeworld defense”)
well, yes, it is “Alien” Tech, even if you are referencing the ancient’s Gate network.
1.The Ancients didn’t evolve on earth.
The Alterans evolved on Celestis in the Alteran Home Galaxy. eventually there was a schism between 2 groups of Alterans, Scientific vs. Religious
the Scientific group left home, traveled to “Avalon”(The Milky Way) eventually becoming the Ancients/Lanteans, while the religious faction stayed behind becoming the Ori.
2.The original Tau’ri Hyperdrive (in Prometheus) was reverse engineered Goa’uld tech, with Asgard Help.
Later Vessels got wholesale Asgard Hyperdrives, transporters, computer cores, and weaponry.
(and eventually the entire Asgard knowledge base)
and no need for anyone else to call me out, I know, i know… I am Definitely a
especially when it comes to StarTrek, and StarGate.

@jsh139
Which four out of five Americans cannot see from their front porch.
@jsh139 yes. my vote too and it should have been in the choices…

@DVDBZN that is a fun fact, indeed!
Cheer up, suckers!
Alan Rickman was a national (yes, not our nation) treasure, and Galaxy Quest proves that.
What about the galaxy from Men in Black?
The more you see the word “galaxy,” the more you’re convinced it’s spelled wrong.
Once in a sentence, it looks fine. But by the 7th time in a list, you’re like, can’t put my finger on it but it doesn’t look right.
@MehnofLaMehncha
The daily plight of a coder -Googling “boat” because it doesn’t look right the 42nd time it’s typed.
I’m kind of obsessed with my Galaxy Note 5. I fall in love all over again every time I use the S Pen.
“A Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” all the way. Shame that the other books never got adapted into movies…
Honourable mentions are “Galaxy Quest” & Monty Python’s wonderful song.
@thismyusername Ooh, I did not know about this!
@thismyusername 1000% interested in this
@thismyusername WOW !!! !!! !!! !!! Well, I now have something to look forward to in my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
The Milky Way is a type of galaxative.

@ELUNO Now that’s some galaxy I can get behind!
Rebel Galaxy is pretty good, but I really like Rogue Galaxy.
No love for the classic Pinfari Zyklon / Galaxi roller coaster?

Remember AudioGalaxy? Illegal MP3 downloading never surpassed the wonders of AudioGalaxy.
@sanspoint Oh wow, I did not remember that at all. Nostalgia hitting me…

Andromeda hands down.

I mean, if I absolutely had to pick one… I guess… GN-z11?
Just to be thorough, I have to toss in that other galaxy in our neighborhood - the Pegasus Galaxy.

@earlyre no need to call me out, I’ll do it myself…
NERD!!!
@earlyre Yup. Pegasus is an irregular dwarf galaxy in the 'hood of Milky Way and Andromeda, and was depicted as such in SGA.
And is the tech really “alien” if it was created by a race that evolved on Earth?
And there’s the galaxy-hopping Destiny -ultimate fate (and ironically, destiny) unknown …
well, yes, it is “Alien” Tech, even if you are referencing the ancient’s Gate network.
