Closest thing I could think that I regularly don't indulge in...like, when...okay, whatever. Ginger ale. The stuff in the glass bottles. I would say I get other types than Reed's Extra Ginger Brew, but that's pretty much all I get. I don't even like their other ginger brews; just the extra ginger brew, because it just seems flat without that "Stronger ginger bite"
@SSteve Seconding the Bundaberg recommendation. After years of chasing it at my kind-of-local Cost Plus World Market, Bundaberg turned up recently at my little neighborhood bodega. It's going to be a great summer.
Quality knives, both chef knives and pocket knives. Plus random Sci-Fi collectibles that happen to attract my interest. DVD sets for British TV shows. Fancy art glass. The list could go on for quite a while.

@olperfesser You can get on line but it's crazy expensive. Many, many, many years ago, drinking anything less than 25 years old was considered very bad tatse. I'm talking almost 100 years ago. Slowly booze got cheaper and cheaper and the well aged stuff became very rae. These days the public's taste for better stuff has grown, so there's some interesting stuff out there, like 25 year old Crown Royal. But even though the taste for good stuff is there, I notice too many of the wanna-be connoisseurs still do something totally stupid like mix it with Coke. Made me crazy when I used to tend bar.
@Teripie It makes me twinge to see good whiskey wasted by adding coke. or water for that matter. no more than a straw full is all you need people! Personally, I'm more into Bourbon than Scotch, by the time I really enjoy the scotch its too expensive and I drink too much for that. I just picked up a great bottle of uncut bourbon, Booker's I think.
@Teripie That's really interesting... I wonder if there's a "doughnut hole" caused by Prohibition? Its 100th anniversary is just a few years away, and I can imagine that during those years when everyone knew it was coming, supplies might have been drained. And after its repeal in 1933, there probably wasn't much interest in waiting 25 years until 1958 for the best stuff.
It's not gonna be extremely extravagant (still well within what all the metrics say is my range) but basically doubling my mortgage once it's built is going to take a bite out of my discretionary budget.
Luxury resorts for me. Proposed to wife in Aruba, honeymoon in Moorea and Bora Bora. Family vacation last year with folks in this Turks and Caicos. Work hard, relax softer.
My fanciest indulgence is probably fabrics and yarn. Silk velvet, ooooh baby. Hand-dyed merino, bring it on. Other than that, food ingredients, probably. Yes, I do buy morels in season.
@OldCatLady I got some I seriously love from Havel's Sewing. http://www.havelssewing.com/applique-scissors.html I covet some of the hand-forged French ones. (Hey, Meh: go talk to your knife suppliers and see if any of them have surplus scissors.)
@madamehardy The scissors could be a good two-for-Tuesday offering, being as they're already a pair. The writeup has a lot of potential, doesn't it @snapster or @JonT?
I'm a knitter and a spinner of yarn. The really good shit will set you back upwards of $35 a ball of yarn, so it's not something I can do whenever I feel like it. I'm currently saving for a new spinning wheel that'll set me back over $400. I buy whole fleece fresh off the animal, so getting to travel around and find them is fun.
I'm a car guy. I've owned some pretty nice cars over the past 20 years. Nothing ridiculously expensive, but I like to drive fast and look good doing it :)
Dollar store crap. Can't resist it. Really good tweezers. Silver jewelry, I have over 200 rings set with various stones. Escargot, but not the crap with the cheese in it. My dogs, kids, and grandkids; in that order.
My apartment. I can't really afford it, but the rental market has escalated in Chicago, and the cost of moving would wipe out whatever marginal saving I got on the rent.
The one thing I'm always okay spending money on is food. I love food and don't mind shelling out for a really nice dinner, or paying more for some high quality ingredients if I'm cooking.
I'll never forget some of the amazing meals I've had with my SO.
The problem with people who have no vices is that generally, you can be quite sure they're going to have some very annoying virtues.
My vices (indulgences) are too many to list (or count).
@Pavlov Yes.
Ramune
@chr +1
@chr how weird.. I'm sitting here sipping on one as we speak!
That list needs to be checkboxes so I can select more than one (or four, but who's counting?).
All of the above but mostly dogs.
Fine Dining and some retro video games are about it. Other than that...yeah.
Continuing with vmp!
Books. Could get them at the library, but don't. And hard copy rather than Kindle.
Closest thing I could think that I regularly don't indulge in...like, when...okay, whatever.

@Charcoalwolfman Have you tried Bundaberg? I'm a big fan.
@SSteve Seconding the Bundaberg recommendation. After years of chasing it at my kind-of-local Cost Plus World Market, Bundaberg turned up recently at my little neighborhood bodega. It's going to be a great summer.
Cigars & books.
You're supposed to spend money?
@techdude9 The best things in life are free
@jqubed The second best are very damn expensive.
@jqubed But you can keep them for the birds and bees
@Pavlov Preach it.
@SSteve Now give me money
Good weed! Umm, superior quality medical marijuana, that's it.
Jewelry with real precious metals and non-lab-created gemstones.
@katbyter It asked for fancy. I don't see how inferior gemstones are fancy.
@Fen_Star I guess if it's good enough for the Crown Jewels, it's probably fancy enough for me.
Honey, bring out the fine Chinette, we're having Popeye's!
My weed cellar
@droopus I'll be right over. I'll bring the Doritos.
If I'm feeling crazy, I'll throw an extra G in each of the kids' 529s.
Also a big fan of tipping 50-100%

@olperfesser Top shelf scotch is 25 years or older.
@Teripie, I have never seen better than 18 (Macalens) personally. I guess you have access to better quality than I do.

@editorkid Wow! Really good theory. Let's see if we can get a governemnt grant for a bazillion dollars to study it.
At this point, I'm gonna say "house."
It's not gonna be extremely extravagant (still well within what all the metrics say is my range) but basically doubling my mortgage once it's built is going to take a bite out of my discretionary budget.
Just saying the word "indulgence" is taking it to a whole other level honestly

@madamehardy High cost thread collections, silk and metallic and ...High-end sewing scissors. I have a deep desire to go check my collection now-.

@jsh139 I spend too much money on my one old car... but its not running yet so I don't consider it an indulgence
I really like firearms and archery. it can get expensive quick.
@geotighe Waiting for Meh to do something about it, maybe get some .22LR ammo for sale
@geotighe no joke...even with 9mm a date night runs me close to $100 without food.
Functional indulgence? Some good cheese, even though I have some lactose intolerance.
Feel-good indulgence? Stuff that doesn't do anything, like a purple penguin plushie.
@narfcake Purple? Purple!! Awww.
The dog.
European naked midget wrestling laser discs
Vinyl records
I buy wine in bottles. Sometimes with real corks.
Next week (hopefully) some King Solomon Hill and Frank Stokes recordings.
ice cream and chocolate
