We got some on a previous sale, and the comments about the appearance not matching the package are accurate. My opinion of the flavor was that it fell somewhere between unobjectionable and sub-mediocre. It definitely did not rise to the level of good. That said, I ate a fair number of them before I got to the point that I did not want to see any more. We took the remainder to a gaming night session and tossed them on the snack pile. Most of them vanished.
I’ve been noticing a lot of repeats lately. It is disappointing to be passing up on the same crap that I rejected a week ago/month ago/during the Mehathon.
Chickpeas are the first ingredient?
No thanks. Cook them for a vegetable with salt and pepper. Give me all the flour, sugar, and chocolate for my cookies.
A couple of guys in my office always miss out on snacks. One is lactose intolerant and some other digestive issues and the other has celiac disease. I’m tempted to get these for them.
Well, I took the plunge and placed my order for the chocolate chip brownies and THEN came to read Meh’s underwhelming reviews. I really didn’t know whether to laugh or cry! …
Sadly…
I went back and cancelled.
I’d love to hear from the 184 people who purchased these today though, are THEY repeat buyers or what? And what are their reasons for buying them?
Though honestly I could buy these again. The mint one was basically a breath mint that was slightly chewy (can’t taste the chocolate). The pumpkin spice one was a similar “gumball” of cloves and nutmeg; edible, and can freeze and defrost, but not exactly a thing I would want to be a staple.
Some of these are something that can belong in an MRE. The regular chip and birthday variants are… from the era where hardtack and swill were considered consumable.
@pakopako
I’m still learning and Google is my friend… MRE - Meals Ready to Eat. Hardtack and sowbelly are things I hadn’t heard of either.
Hardtack is a rock-hard, long-lasting cracker made from flour, water, and salt, while swill (historically paired with rations like sowbelly or salted meat) refers to poor-quality food or slop.
TBT - I added that emoji. Like you didn’t already know…!
After reading THAT little tidbit I’m most definitely glad I cancelled my order! Absolutely no doubts were left rattling around! Thank you, VERY MUCH!
I purchased the chocolate chip and birthday cake variants of these on a previous sale. I have seen a lot of people who got ones that looked really brown and burned compared to the packaging, I did not have that problem. Visually mine looked exactly like the image on the package…that said…they tasted like beans. Like, literally slightly sweet chickpea was the only flavor I could taste and it was not something I could handle. I think I ate four bags just to see if I could get used to them before I gave up and threw them out.
@skelex if you don’t mind something bean-y, try “red bean paste”.
Though this is kind of a misnomer. These things are like 90% sugar and 10% bean. Slight exaggeration, but these really are similar to Nutella in terms of sugar to everything else ratio.
Though if you’re curious about candied beans vs jelly beans: https://www.pinoycookingrecipes.com/recipe/candied-white-beans
Because of the candying process, these are very much still mostly sugar (with some fiber thanks to the bean skin) in the same vein of joke that apples can be just peanut butter delivery systems.
The first ingredient is chickpeas. At least that bodes well for the calorie / protein tradeoff (if we ignore the taste factor).
But how do they have so many calories (100 in “a serving” and there are 5 servings in a packet. If they don’t taste as bad as everyone says, then that’s 500 calories I’ll be scoffing.

These are disgusting. I threw all mine away. Here’s what they looked like – definitely not like what’s on the package.
@cengland0 I think I saw one of those on the ground outside PetSmart. I didn’t pick it up.
Ew, no. I want nutty, glutinous meat based snack bites. Wait. That sounds horrible too. Never mind.
@Pony Hmm…pistachio crusted bacon jerky. Mmmm.
@Pony @thevorlon they have those: little lard/butter bites

@goldnectar Although we’ve featured this before, this is a new batch with new flavors.
@goldnectar so this is for those of us who see maybe 2 or 3 products during a mehrathon.
Meh seems to be getting more meh lately.

@BioBill yeah, but anybody can do that.
Might as well eat an apple, 10X better treat than some play doh disguised a cookie.
I can confirm that these are not very good. Of the flavors I got previously (sprinkles and mint chocolate, I think), the mint chocolate was edible.
A couple of guys in my office always miss out on snacks. One is lactose intolerant and some other digestive issues and the other has celiac disease. I’m tempted to get these for them.
@tweezak The one with digestive issues may have a problem with the chickpeas and prebiotic. I know I would

Rule number one of fidget club is, You never talk about the rules.
You broke that rule.

@Lynnerizer Skinnerbox response?

@Lynnerizer the reason I bought them the last time was because I’m Celiac so all my food needs to be gluten-free. I’m never buying these again.

For some examples:

In bulk, these things are about $0.40 an ounce; a far cry from JIF which usually retails at half that https://www.amazon.com/Jif-Creamy-Peanut-Butter-Pound/dp/B01M6WM4C5
But there’s also bite sized servings (similar to JIF-to-go dipping cups, these would be more like solid balls of Nutella). Mizu yokan is more or less “sweet water jelly” (but very solid jelly, like a piece of Turkish delight or large jelly bean).

Yuck.
These look awful and have too many negative comments. Pass

… and yet have so little protein.
When are these f***ing things going to ship??? My order is still processing.
@Trinityscrew And now that they have arrived I wish they hadn’t. I only tried the mint chocolate so far, but they’re not very good.
