My best headphones were all free. Years ago when I played music at clubs, I had a supercheap pair of Sony headphones. Drunk dude knocked over a table with my gear, only thing that broke was the headphones. (Also the vibe, since the music stopped) He felt bad and sent me a new pair of MDR-V700s the next day. Used those until I got a free pair of Sony PlayStation Gold headphones (work reward bonus program), which are super comfortable and work on PC.
Had a Best Buy gift card to use, so I got some Sony on-ear noise cancelling. They live in my travel backpack, and I sometimes pull them out by the cord. They haven't broken after years of mistreatment -- that makes them keepers. I replaced the foam ear-pads (with "leatherette") when they disintegrated rather than buying a new headphones. Hopefully, Meh will still be around when they get run over by a truck or something.
I'm typically an earbud kind of guy. The iPhone headphones that come with the phone won't stay in my ear for the life of me and over the ear headphones are just a bit too bulky for me. A good pair of earbuds for $20-$40 usually does the trick for me.
I got infuriated by noise when on trips (train, air, etc) and finally broke down and got a pair of Samsung Level Overs for about $200. I'm told the Bose has better noise cancelling but I am so over wires, and therefore wanted a set with Bluetooth and NC. Options become very limited in this space. Fortunately, these sound good, noise cancellation seems pretty darn good to me, and they are exceptionally comfortable.
The only drawback to them is the size. They are huge and don't fold, but given the other upsides, I'm really glad to have gotten them, and at the price I paid.
I bought the Func headset and it is very comfortable and it makes sounds in my ears, plus I can stick the microphone/cable different sides, which is lovely.
I don't recall the exact amount but they were made by David Clark.
$100 on a pair of Sennheiser earbuds. Worth every penny.
$55 for a of Jabra bluetooth headphone headset.
Last year I paid like $60 for these:

They sound great, but pinch my head after an hour or so.
$200+ on a Yamaha pair.
I like them. They smell like cat pee now so I have to fix that.
Ear buds = $50
