@katylava well apparently you lived to tell they tale since you sold them weapons… so are those ridiculously expensive things actually any better than much cheaper decent quality knives?
@Kidsandliz i have only used super cheap knives, and said super expensive knives. they are so much better than cheap knives, but i've been told they are not better than lower-priced quality knives.
@katylava The real value of the cutco knives is the lifetime warranty and free sharpening. My exes bff works for Cutco in the head office, so we have a pile of them. If you're in the area, it's worth going to the factory and perusing their seconds. No warranty, but affordable and still good knives.
Going back a few years, I paid $15 for an 11-piece forged knife set in a block. It was supposed to be 12 pieces, but I'll take $45 off over a missing paring knife.
200+ on a single knife. Not exactly a kitchen knife, but there's no reason it can't be used in the kitchen. I'm waiting for this to arrive at my front door.
Henkels zwilling 4 star 8", 6", 4", 8" carving, 11"slicing, block, sharpening steel, and a couple cheaper henkels - tomato slicer and vege peeler. Bought between 15 and 25 years ago and still sharp as new.
The highest amount I ever paid was around $120. I think the highest price I ever paid was for a bargain set of knives in a cheap holder. As I was unpacking, the holder tipped over on the counter, a paring knife came lose and landed on my foot. Took three stitches, a couple of weeks hobbling around without a shoe (in January, in Kansas) listening to coworkers make jokes about my knife-wielding (in)ability, and a ton of cleaners trying to figure the best way to get blood out of carpet.
Ceramics, baby.....
@droopus Yep.
@droopus I try to like them, but they're too lightweight and they're really fragile.
All of my cutlery came from my wedding registry. Over nine years ago. So I've never bought knives. Today's deal won't change this fact.
Ohh the poll isn't registering votes. Interesting, sorta.
@Thumperchick Registered my Meh when I clicked on it, but now it's gone.
@pooflady My Meh is still there. o_0 weirdness
I don't recall ever buying a set of knives... they've just appeared in my house.
However, 15 years ago I did sell my parents a set of knives for over $700 (my grandparents too). They still have them.
@katylava And yet here today you're selling total strangers knives for $30.
@katylava Were they Cutco knives?
@Kleineleh indeed they were
@katylava well apparently you lived to tell they tale since you sold them weapons… so are those ridiculously expensive things actually any better than much cheaper decent quality knives?
@katylava For $700 & still around after 15 years, I figured they must be. My cousin sells them & I can't come anywhere close to affording them.

Magical poll!

@somf69 Hey that is what I clicked before you posted this. How do you know it isn't mine - all mine??? LOL
This is like voting IRL!!
@Ignorant we try our best to provide an authentic experience
I'm totally on this poll issue... stand by.

@shawn Yeah gonna get done fast when you have to first go looking for (or doctor) dog/computer photos LOL
@Kidsandliz
i'm just gonna sit here and watch
@Kidsandliz I can't wait until this poll gets fixed so I can vote on it
@shawn ooh ooh I'm not scared - I'll vote but that big knife will not make me buy
@JonT whatever… (said in my best mocking my teen tone of voice - oscar worthy I am sure)
@shawn I see it is fixed…I voted… give those doggies doggie treats.
@Kidsandliz , What else did you want @shawn to do when the server was rebooting? : /
@caffeine_dude don't forget test running
@harrison like this?
@harrison Meh, real men don't test! If it works for 10 seconds, it works forever.
@caffeine_dude no, REAL men edit their code right there on the production server.
We got my Kai Tan Ren's for ~$200ish a few years ago. I still love them.
I'm waiting for..
Henckels Miyabi Birchwood
or
Shun Classic.
"Damascus Blade" is so cool !!
And.. this.
@Gaster Yes, Shun knives please. We want Shun!!!!
@Gaster That's what's up!
@Gaster Hubby and I have a full set of the Shun Edo line... they're... amazing.
The last time I needed knives, I went to Dollar Tree. So I know nothing about expensive knives.
@Ignorant if I can vote for what??
Voting is all fixed up again. Choose wisely my friends.
Note the first sucker.

@rockblossom At least you didn't try to catch it - "A falling knife has no handle."
@JonT Oh, I tried to catch it. Fortunately, I lack coordination as well as common sense.
@rockblossom
The knives that get the most use in my house are the steak knives my mom got as a gift from Reader's Digest in the 80's.
10 bucks for three sets of knives. I'm the dude that got three different complete sets of kitchen knives in my meh kickstarter box.
Check out Rada Cutlery. Reasonable prices, great quality and made in the USA. I swear by them.
