What'll you have, Mr. President?
12Have you seen the dumpster fire over on shirt.woot? It’s got so bad they’re doing Soviet revisionist history on it. I refreshed, and shirt page and discussion page both vanished.
Ah, here’s the shirt page, note there are two designs for equal opportunity offense. No sign of the discussion page.

They seem totally surprised that offensive political shirts would cause offense.
(And you can blame this post on that offensive button on the bottom of the page that told me to do it.)

I still see the discussion thread: https://forums.woot.com/t/whatll-you-have-mr-president/453927/26
@dave on facebook, people are sending folks to meh… Thought it was funny…
It’s weird, in that the original designs in the derby the second “joke” (socialist/millionaire/hypocrite) the punch line was “What’ll you have, Mr. Sanders?”, but that got changed to Mr. President in the offering that’s set off the dumpster fire. I dug through as much of that forum as I could stand but could not find any explanation as to the change.
@stolicat The “Mr Sanders” line makes a lot more sense too…but is so last election…neither shirt was “funny” They were just bitter and mean.
and I can’t find a direct link to that derby now …
@therealjrn ah, here’s the link - thanks google.

@stolicat Let us all Praise Google
@stolicat
There were two different listings.
This is the one which you were referring to:

@blaineg gets it.
Linking the Prime Day BOGO shirt banner to the order page of those shirts was a special little bit of Woot fuckery as well. lol
I’m sure it all sounded great in the pitch meeting.
Of course, something like that would NEVER happen over here. Nooooooo. All of our mehtizens are so level headed and respect each other’s political views.
@Barney That’s right!
@Barney @therealjrn It’s better than almost all others, actually, and part of the reason I hang out here. I’ve had to bite my keyboard’s tongue a couple times but I enjoy staying politically civil.
@stolicat Yes, it is pretty good overall.
I have a friend who spends a great deal of time on Ravelry and she says it was a “helluva mess” over there.
@Barney @stolicat @therealjrn
Photos?
Is there a coupon?
@llangley Ha! It’s a BOGO with your Prime account!
@therealjrn Haha! So…in for 2?
I’m such a trouble maker…
@llangley You can buy one of each
The shitposting was worse this time than it was the last time with “Make America Civil Again”.
But then, we are talking about a site that managed to enrage folks when they sold a blank t-shirt before too.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
HeeHeeHee…That discussion board just warms my dark soul. So much pure entertainment!
@mfladd IKR. What a bunch of snowflakes that didn’t vote.
I’m too busy with the real world to get worked up over a t-shirt being sold online. Woot is an equal opportunity offender. /shrug
in for 1
…why wont the place your order button click?..
/giphy triggered
@Mehrocco_Mole
@Mehrocco_Mole Should you be caught or killed, the secretary will disavow all knowledge of your actions.
So are they still printing the shirt for people that bought it?
@RiotDemon Yes- in fact you can still order one. Or both.
I’m bemused. Why, if so many condemned the shirts, were there no shirt derby entries lauding the Glorious Orange and mocking its victims? They can censor what I wear, but they don’t have the courage of their convictions in public? Say it loud, they’re Orange but not proud.
@OldCatLady Tell that to @f00l
@OldCatLady @therealjrn @f00l I don’t get it either. The first shirt is obviously about President Clinton and the second is President Obama. President Trump isn’t even involved.
@f00l @OldCatLady @therealjrn
Oops, my bad. In the original competition the 2nd shirt had Senator B. Sander’s name on it. Apparently the “non-political” Woot! people
changed it.
