@chienfou I think the point is that the thing they will miss least about summer is not having to put on a coat, but that they will not miss it much because it will be cold outside. I assume they like cold even less than overly hot. Or I could be wrong.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@chienfou I guess that was easy. I like NOT having NOT to have to put on a Coat before I go out side, I love wearing shorts & a T-Shirt. You should NOT go outside during Winter without a Coat & you should be wearing Long pants to keep your legs warm & a Long sleeve shirt.
@mycya4me
Sorry, the way I read that the two negatives cancel each other out which means you’ll miss having to put on a coat…
Since you admittedly like wearing shorts and t-shirts that would be the thing you would miss most not least…
But now, with your explanation I see what you meant - thanks.
@macromeh Sleep masks are your friend! My bed faces sunrise (slightly SE), plus there’s a security spotlight outside my window. A sleep mask has really helped.
@Kyeh@lisagd The master bedroom has a vaulted ceiling and there is a fixed arched window in the peak. No luck so far finding a curtain or blind that can be easily opened/removed for that.
@Kyeh@lisagd@macromeh What I use is a soft/ thick pillow that covers my eyes & some of my nose, It is easy to follow you when you turn over, Being it bing a pillow it just don’t fall off! It is Dark & anytimes the slight weight helps me sleep!
@callow@Kyeh@lisagd Our arched bedroom window is a separate unit with a horizontal bit of wall between it and the main windows below it.
The tricky bit is that we want to be able to easily uncover the arch window when desired. One option that I’ve considered is making a couple of quarter-circle pieces (maybe of rigid foam with fabric covering) that would fit snugly within the arched window opening. A pole with a hook could catch loops for placement and removal.
Another might be a pleated blind that lowers from the top of the window. But that might get easily hung up and be a nuisance.
@lisagd north texas… blackland prairie ground is unstable. If the ground is not watered frequently in the summer, the slab foundation can crack. I spent $23k om repairs last year so protecting the foundation is important
Summer itself. But first, IT NEEDS TO LEAVE.
@werehatrack YES!
Mosquitos!
@andyw Oh my yes! Yes yes yes! I hate those things so much.
The bugs!
All of the above & bugs.
MOSQUITOS

@cholliday
Can’t you just say ‘no’?
Not having to put on a Coat because it is COLD outside!
@mycya4me
I’m really confused…

The sun rising so damn early.
(East facing bedroom windows. )

@lisagd I have a sleep mask and it helps. But it often comes off when I sleep-thrash.
@macromeh It’s hard to find one that fits well and stays in place, that’s true.
@lisagd @macromeh
Room-darkening curtains really do work …

@lisagd @macromeh Ohhh - fancy architecture! Maybe some sort of fancy blackout shade? Something like the custom ones @callow makes?

I have a skylight above my bed that has a sliding shade on it that you open and close with a long pole with a hook; kind of a nuisance but it works.
@Kyeh @lisagd @macromeh Anything (almost) is possible with custom.

@callow @Kyeh @lisagd @macromeh Instead of a hook and a loop, consider an inverted pocket and an angled tongue on the end of a long handle,
My $200/month water bill keeping the foundation watered.
@ironcheftoni Why is your foundation so dry? Isn’t concrete supposed to be dry?

The cast on my broken wrist.
The weather. I’m not really into summer type of person and it’s really hot to go out.
