3 G.E.T. black melamine 6 oz. serving bowls model HSB-106. I actually like these and wish there were more, though the 12 oz. variety would probably be more useful. Hard to find on the web; even the G.E.T website doesn’t show the 6 oz. ones. I have some family who like to throw parties, so maybe I can talk them into ordering a case and selling me about a half dozen. These look like they would be great for serving dips or such. If you get some, note to NOT USE BLEACH to clean them and keep them away from regular or microwave ovens.
All in all, worth the trouble and the somewhat over $49.99 spent on Meh-rathon merchandise that I was pretty picky on. Definitely has raised my average outcome on IRKs.
@phendrick For that dress, if you were in or near Houston, there’s a clothing swap going on at the Montrose Center tomorrow where it would be a welcome addition. Those happen once or twice a year, usually. 2X should be way too big for me, but if it’s a Chinese-size-range item, it might actually be too small.
@werehatrack It’d be about a 2 hour drive each way, in an untrustworthy almost two-decade-old pickup, so not particularly interested. Even if it survived the trip, it’d probably cost me more in fuel than what that dress would be worth.
I think I’ll put it up on Craigslist locally if it doesn’t fit anyone in my son’s family – haven’t talked to him yet since I got the box. He’s hard to get hold of on Saturdays – thinks they’re for work vacations or some such. Before I retired from junior college teaching, Saturdays were just another day for grading; don’t miss that aspect at all.
I might offer to swap it for homemade cake or several dozen CC cookies or fudge brownies.

This one has me wondering if somebody was pulling random pallets down from the tops of the racks, and found an IRK that had been hiding for a very long time. Or maybe they found a whole pallet of IRKable schmutz, and this was just a random sampling of the pile. Either way, it was emphatically an IRK in the grand tradition, and the leopard-print bag is just outrageous enough to be useful. (It’s slightly bittersweet as well; Lee would have adored it if she were still here.)

If we were in easy drive distance I would throw some $$ your way for the luggage and bring the extra bags. Mine got destroyed on the last trip I took. I keep putting off buying more since I don’t have any plans made yet.
@lonocat If you don’t like puzzles donate them to a local school. Our librarian has them out and the kids go before school and work on them, and when there are doubles, the kids have contests, etc. Just a thought. We also have a few classrooms that have puzzle stations.

@lonocat Midland/Odessa, eh? Folks I know who say they’re from those parts are generally determined to stay that way. OTOH, the only time in the past two decades that I had a vehicle failure that caused me to seek a repair shop during a trip, the need became inescapable as I pulled into Midland. The shop I found was near downtown, and they got the job done and had me back on the road without scalping me. There’s a lot of places where that would have taken a miracle. In this case, the miracle was that I coaxed it into getting me to a motel for the evening, and then to a repair shop in the morning. The failure went critical in their parking lot.
OBTW, the vehicle wasn’t mine, The owner swore he hadn’t noticed anything wrong at all, but the last person who’d driven it besides him said that yeah, the noise had been there, and yeah, he’d told the owner. Said owner had once driven a similar vehicle with an identical failure until the damn wheel tried to fall off. (Front wheel bearing, GM van, sealed-unit bearing and hub assembly.)
The cheapest IRK I have ever received, in a way; arrived on the same day the refund (plus sales tax!) hit my credit card. My daughter was home from college for a night and eagerly claimed the first 3 items.

Got mine today…fairly happy with my first (not for a lack of trying) IRK. The box came appropriately poorly taped and slightly damaged. It took a bit to find the shipping label and I actually got worried for a few that someone had left something nefarious on our porch. Then I saw the label and read Side Deal, and was instantly excited for my IRK!

Got my IRK today and mostly similar to what’s been posted: black bag, bath set, couple random phone accessories and tiny stretch pants my youngest daughter might fit in lol.
Also got this, either a slush/icee maker or maybe soft serve ice cream. But having a difficult time finding it anywhere online, let alone meh/sidedeal/morning. I was hoping to find directions or recipes but so far haven’t found a single mention of it anywhere and very little markings to help.

I received a True&Tidy mop, some stamps, a phone grip/stand, and a dark blue IRK bag. Cat is for photo purposes only and was not included in the box. At fifty bucks an IRK now, my tattoo is almost paid off.
Strangest IRK I’ve gotten. My daughter is happy about the pack of 8x10 canvas panels and the Juku light games coding kit.

Holy schnikes! Apparently, I hit the IRK lotto this time.
Two huge boxes and an exasperated FedEx dude showed up at my door this afternoon (wasn’t expecting anything until end of the week).
First one seemed apparent…had to check though as we all know Meh can be sneaky and it is in fact a perfectly new, unused and undamaged 11 piece Cuisinart Chef’s Classic Stainless Blush Series pot/pan set with lids! Currently selling for $200 that that jungle place!!
Also stuffed in the box was a single gray pixel tracker, some socks, a magnetic power bank and the black IRK bag.
The other giant box, also opened and verified, is a pretty tight 2 piece HM Hardside matching luggage set! XL and Medium sized…also in the box were a neat little set of rubber stamps with ink pad, a gold pop-socket and a navy blue IRK bag.
@PHRoG least regrettable IRK I’ve ever seen. Either one of those 2 big boxes would have been a good haul, and you got 2x boxes with less than 1/2 a regret!
@haydesigner That’s weird, even though I bought one of those coffee things last year (I think $29 or $39). But usually you get at least some variety of crap even if it’s stuff they sweep up off the floor, picking out (hopefully) any dead rats they find.) So it’s rare to get a single crap, or, wait, here we call it a regret, but if you whole life has only one regret, that’s doing pretty good.
@haydesigner Did you open the box to see if they stuffed anything else in there (including checking that coffee holder thing)? They often stuff things in boxes or other weird places.
We got a Cuisinart air fryer. I’ve always talked trash about these things, as they’re essentially just convection ovens and we have a convection oven, but my daughter was stoked. I have to admit, it heats up and cooks the food quickly and it was pretty tasty. Not bad.
@Snivles I have a convection oven too but if I need to cook a small batch of French fries, I’m not going to use the huge energy hogging oven for that task. That’s where the air frier comes in. I have one big one large enough to cook a pizza so I rarely use the oven now.

@sammydog01 My first air fryer came in an irk too. It was obviously a return because part of the plastic case was broken but it worked fine. It was so small it couldn’t do a full batch of fries so I gave it to a friend and bought a bigger one like this:
Very expensive but I am definitely getting my money’s worth because I use it nearly every day.
Coincidentally, Like you, I just bought a Ninja Foodie during the most recent mehrathon on February 13. Used it yesterday to cook some rice and it worked great. Plan on using it again today for bean soup using the pressure cooker feature. It’s versatile so it will become one of my main kitchen appliances. The only problem is finding a place to store it when not in use. It’s huge!!! (That’s what she said.)

I received a large beat up cardboard box and thought, well, I got screwed. It turned out to be a 3 piece Olympia luggage set that the largest piece may have been used once and returned. The other two pieces were unused. As I was getting ready to throw the large box in my burn pile I noticed a sound. Turns out there was a deck of cards, some batteries that I can’t use in my devices CR2016 not CR2032, an air tag, and a Meh bag.
@Ecriscit I think CR2016 may be the size used in TrackRs, making their usage slightly more probable for some here. If you have managed to avoid collecting any of those traditional tokens, congratulations.

@tinamarie1974 it’s a good thing she is! Her name is Juniper and she’s a mess! I can’t complain though. She’s almost completely house broken. She is insanely playful and our other Dane mix, Willow loves her. She’s treating her like she’s her own which is kind of amazing.

My mom used to have a ton of plants like this under and around the big picture window in the family room… of course no cats at her house to eat them, dig in them or knock them over (or since she had some cacti get stabbed by them ).
@Kidsandliz@sammydog01@Star2236 well the orchids and cacti up top get misted a few times a week but I only really water those every 2-4 weeks depending on season. The rest gets watered roughly every week. I would say it takes roughly 10-12 gallons? Just estimating. I also keep two humidifiers going at all times. That probably sounds insane to anyone that lives in a humid climate but we don’t and our furnaces pull so much moisture out the air, it’s bananas. So it actually just makes it livable. I think last time I counted I have about 145 indoor plants…… That doesn’t include the ones in the murder shed.
@Kidsandliz nah. It’s not a biggie. I have 25-30 in my garage. I love them but I truly don’t need one. They’re rad for grocery store trips for sure though. They hold a really great amount and are sturdy.
@sammydog01 trust me. She’s very much basset. She has really short legs. We were laughing hysterically last night because Willow Ie blaster would grab a toy and tease her and jump on the couch. She’s so short and long that she can’t jump on the couch so Juniper Ie master would run after her and try to jump but then basically bounce off the ropes like a pro wrestler and fall down. It was too damn funny.

I Thought I had a house full of plants but you really put meaning into that. You have the perfect window for it and I love the way they hang from the window on the bar. It gives me ideas on how to add more plants to my space lol. I’m definitely running out of areas to put plants but there’s so many more I want. I think I’m think I’m gonna get one of those big wooden plant stands with the multiple different shelf’s so I can put a lot of them on there and add more. Do your orchids bloom? I don’t see branches on a lot of them. I can’t believe you run 2 humidifiers with that many plants. We won’t run one bc the all are plants produce so much extra humidity (we live in a very humid climate though). Well good to hear from you again

That standing picture brings back a lot of memories to me, looking at your dog’s shape. My previous dog was half basset, half who-knows (the owner of the mother didn’t know for sure, but thought maybe some lab). Super cute as a pup, not so much grown up and filled out (looked much like a stuffed, dog-shaped sofa cushion with basset fore-legs). Early on, I asked the vet how big he thought she’d get. He said, 40 pounds? I thought, That big? She made it to about 80, mostly muscle, really strong, though didn’t look nearly that heavy. But docile, though she had a deep bark that would intimidate anyone at the front door.
She was VERY smart, VERY head-strong. Smartest dog I’ve ever had anything to do with. By the time she died (cancer), she knew probably 3 or 4 dozen English phrases, and could act on them (if she felt like it). For instance, late on I realized she couldn’t see very well any more, as she would stumble when we were walking at night and came to a curb. I worked with her some and it didn’t take long for me to get her to follow my voice: I could give a small tug on her leash and say “Step up” or “Step down” and she would do so just the right amount and thus negotiate curbs. She knew “Go left” and “Go right” at corners and knew “Let’s go across” meant we would cross to the other side of a street. She slept on a cushion at the foot of our bed, but wouldn’t let us sleep until she got her nightly bed-time treats (vitamins and teeth cleaner). When she was going to the vet for treatments, they were impressed when they saw how I walked her and how she responded.
She’d stick her nose in your crotch, waiting for a head scratch. Even better, she liked her chest rubbed below her collar. But her favorite: she’d walk past you, then back up and present you with her backside, just waiting for a good rub above and around her tail.
The whole family cried when she was put to sleep. I miss her still. My current dog, though lovable, is a relative moron. She’s stubborn, only hears me when she is hungry or otherwise knows food is involved. When I walk her, I have to hold the leash very firmly, lest she veer into the path of an oncoming car or truck, which she thinks she should chase (we mostly don’t have sidewalks here, just bike lanes). Not only does she not follow voice commands, she tries to pull me at right angles to our intended route, and though only 50 pounds, she is probably as strong as my previous dog (current one was rescued and determined to be at least half lab; later they decided that maybe a good portion of her DNA is pit bull). I’m about 220 pounds and I have trouble controlling her walk at times. She has actually pulled me to the ground several times when she lurched unexpectedly (squirrel, possum, cat).
She’s dumb, but I would cry over this one now.
I lost a lot of my pictures in a house fire several years ago. But now, I’m curious if I can locate any on old computer files. If I can find any, you’ll see the resemblance I talked about in the shapes.

A bunch recently just lost the last of their flowers so I cut the stalks back. I do that because the new stalks typically produce more flowers. I also feed a light fertilizer that I make every time I water them except when they’re in bloom. A few of them are 15-16 years old.
@phendrick@sammydog01 I feel you. We had a full blown basset when we lived in England. We wound up rehoming him with a basset rescue when I went to work because he developed a seriously unhealthy attachment disorder. I had him from 7 weeks and we did everything together for the first two years. When I started working it was a massive shock to him. He would just howl for hours. We tried all kind of things but finally decided it was in his best interest to bring him to the rescue. I will say it was the best and worst day ever. The sound of 9 bassets running around was amazing. He wound up going to live on a farm with another dog in Sheffield and lived an amazing life. I did cry for three days straight after we rehomed him though. One of the hardest decisions I’ve made.
This one is already proving she’s going to be amazing. She’s smart as a whip and super mischievous. She’s also taking cues from her “big sister”. I know that when either of them is gone there will be some serious ugly crying going on. The two we have now are both Great Danes on their mothers side so it’s just fitting.
@Kyeh it actually was. I put a little rope of marzipan in there as well and the icing was a cream cheese affair. I don’t like the overtly sweet icing and sugar on traditional king cakes. It’s just too much IMO. The tartness of the rhubarb and strawberries was perfect with the little bit of almond sugary goodness and the cream cheese just rounded it out perfectly.

West can be great too but sometimes they can get too warm depending on the placement or climate. In the PNW west windows are typically fine unless they get too much direct light. I just water them really well every 2-3 weeks typically and the misting is great for the roots. They just don’t like to be really wet. I’m going to start trying to mount some on cedar boards this summer.

@Kidsandliz@Kyeh@sammydog01@Star2236 yeah. There’s a ton of people that debate the ice cube thing but I think there was a study done, which I will have to go look up. It’s about the ice cube watering. Some plant people lose their ish over it because orchids are typically found in subtropical or tropical climates which rarely have low temps. But I guess the aerial roots etc don’t have any real damage until exposed to temps in the 20s? Again this is all paraphrasing from a very tired unmedicated neurodivergent brain piece. Anyway the temp from melting ice is typically between 33-36 degrees and I guess what they found was that it actually aided in the longevity of blooms on the stalk. So doing the ice cube once a week with a humidifier or just misting, I recommend the longburst sprayers that a lot of hairstylists use, would probably be an amazing way to treat them. I would say if she wants so get really clever she could mix a solution with a weak fertilizer and freeze it so they get fed at the same time. Then just use plain ice when the stalks bloom.

I read the same thing about orchids. I haven’t had an orchid in a long time bc I killed a few. I could never remember to water that frequently. I water my plants about once a month but there are some now I do on a weekly basis so it might be time for another orchid.
As far as the orchids, they’re pretty resilient. Most usually die because of overwatering or insufficient indirect light. I only water mine properly once a month roughly. I’m seriously considering starting the frozen fertilizer ice cube trick though to see what that looks like as it would be way faster for me.

He’s hard to get hold of on Saturdays – thinks they’re for work vacations or some such. Before I retired from junior college teaching, Saturdays were just another day for grading; don’t miss that aspect at all.

This one has me wondering if somebody was pulling random pallets down from the tops of the racks, and found an IRK that had been hiding for a very long time. Or maybe they found a whole pallet of IRKable schmutz, and this was just a random sampling of the pile. Either way, it was emphatically an IRK in the grand tradition, and the leopard-print bag is just outrageous enough to be useful. (It’s slightly bittersweet as well; Lee would have adored it if she were still here.)

If we were in easy drive distance I would throw some $$ your way for the luggage and bring the extra bags. Mine got destroyed on the last trip I took. I keep putting off buying more since I don’t have any plans made yet.
@lonocat If you don’t like puzzles donate them to a local school. Our librarian has them out and the kids go before school and work on them, and when there are doubles, the kids have contests, etc. Just a thought. We also have a few classrooms that have puzzle stations.

@lonocat I wish! I am in northern PA but my parents are southern NM. I love the southwest. I can’t get enough time off work to drive out and visit so I fly to El Paso when I get the chance.
@lonocat Midland/Odessa, eh? Folks I know who say they’re from those parts are generally determined to stay that way. OTOH, the only time in the past two decades that I had a vehicle failure that caused me to seek a repair shop during a trip, the need became inescapable as I pulled into Midland. The shop I found was near downtown, and they got the job done and had me back on the road without scalping me. There’s a lot of places where that would have taken a miracle. In this case, the miracle was that I coaxed it into getting me to a motel for the evening, and then to a repair shop in the morning. The failure went critical in their parking lot.
OBTW, the vehicle wasn’t mine, The owner swore he hadn’t noticed anything wrong at all, but the last person who’d driven it besides him said that yeah, the noise had been there, and yeah, he’d told the owner. Said owner had once driven a similar vehicle with an identical failure until the damn wheel tried to fall off. (Front wheel bearing, GM van, sealed-unit bearing and hub assembly.)

Got mine today…fairly happy with my first (not for a lack of trying) IRK. The box came appropriately poorly taped and slightly damaged. It took a bit to find the shipping label and I actually got worried for a few that someone had left something nefarious on our porch. Then I saw the label and read Side Deal, and was instantly excited for my IRK!

Holy schnikes! Apparently, I hit the IRK lotto this time.
Two huge boxes and an exasperated FedEx dude showed up at my door this afternoon (wasn’t expecting anything until end of the week).
First one seemed apparent…had to check though as we all know Meh can be sneaky and it is in fact a perfectly new, unused and undamaged 11 piece Cuisinart Chef’s Classic Stainless Blush Series pot/pan set with lids! Currently selling for $200 that that jungle place!!
Also stuffed in the box was a single gray pixel tracker, some socks, a magnetic power bank and the black IRK bag.
The other giant box, also opened and verified, is a pretty tight 2 piece HM Hardside matching luggage set! XL and Medium sized…also in the box were a neat little set of rubber stamps with ink pad, a gold pop-socket and a navy blue IRK bag.
I can’t seem to find an active listing for it…but, the jungle place has the unavailable listing with camelcamelcamel saying it once was selling for $270ish back in 2018/2019.
Absolutely cannot claim regret on this haul! Thanks Meh.

We got a Cuisinart air fryer. I’ve always talked trash about these things, as they’re essentially just convection ovens and we have a convection oven, but my daughter was stoked. I have to admit, it heats up and cooks the food quickly and it was pretty tasty. Not bad.
@Snivles I have a convection oven too but if I need to cook a small batch of French fries, I’m not going to use the huge energy hogging oven for that task. That’s where the air frier comes in. I have one big one large enough to cook a pizza so I rarely use the oven now.

@sammydog01 My first air fryer came in an irk too. It was obviously a return because part of the plastic case was broken but it worked fine. It was so small it couldn’t do a full batch of fries so I gave it to a friend and bought a bigger one like this:
Very expensive but I am definitely getting my money’s worth because I use it nearly every day.
Coincidentally, Like you, I just bought a Ninja Foodie during the most recent mehrathon on February 13. Used it yesterday to cook some rice and it worked great. Plan on using it again today for bean soup using the pressure cooker feature. It’s versatile so it will become one of my main kitchen appliances. The only problem is finding a place to store it when not in use. It’s huge!!! (That’s what she said.)

Never had an air fryer so I don’t see the appeal. Probably won’t get either unless Meh sends me one too. To me it’s just another appliance to store. But if I got one for free, that’s a different story
I received a large beat up cardboard box and thought, well, I got screwed. It turned out to be a 3 piece Olympia luggage set that the largest piece may have been used once and returned. The other two pieces were unused. As I was getting ready to throw the large box in my burn pile I noticed a sound. Turns out there was a deck of cards, some batteries that I can’t use in my devices CR2016 not CR2032, an air tag, and a Meh bag.
All in all, no regerts.
@Ecriscit I think CR2016 may be the size used in TrackRs, making their usage slightly more probable for some here. If you have managed to avoid collecting any of those traditional tokens, congratulations.

well the orchids and cacti up top get misted a few times a week but I only really water those every 2-4 weeks depending on season. The rest gets watered roughly every week. I would say it takes roughly 10-12 gallons? Just estimating. I also keep two humidifiers going at all times. That probably sounds insane to anyone that lives in a humid climate but we don’t and our furnaces pull so much moisture out the air, it’s bananas. So it actually just makes it livable. I think last time I counted I have about 145 indoor plants…… 
That doesn’t include the ones in the murder shed.

I love them but I truly don’t need one. They’re rad for grocery store trips for sure though. They hold a really great amount and are sturdy.

@sammydog01 trust me. She’s very much basset. She has really short legs. We were laughing hysterically last night because Willow Ie blaster would grab a toy and tease her and jump on the couch. She’s so short and long that she can’t jump on the couch so Juniper Ie master would run after her and try to jump but then basically bounce off the ropes like a pro wrestler and fall down. It was too damn funny.

I Thought I had a house full of plants but you really put meaning into that. You have the perfect window for it and I love the way they hang from the window on the bar. It gives me ideas on how to add more plants to my space lol. I’m definitely running out of areas to put plants but there’s so many more I want. I think I’m think I’m gonna get one of those big wooden plant stands with the multiple different shelf’s so I can put a lot of them on there and add more. Do your orchids bloom? I don’t see branches on a lot of them. I can’t believe you run 2 humidifiers with that many plants. We won’t run one bc the all are plants produce so much extra humidity (we live in a very humid climate though). Well good to hear from you again

That standing picture brings back a lot of memories to me, looking at your dog’s shape. My previous dog was half basset, half who-knows (the owner of the mother didn’t know for sure, but thought maybe some lab). Super cute as a pup, not so much grown up and filled out (looked much like a stuffed, dog-shaped sofa cushion with basset fore-legs). Early on, I asked the vet how big he thought she’d get. He said, 40 pounds? I thought, That big? She made it to about 80, mostly muscle, really strong, though didn’t look nearly that heavy. But docile, though she had a deep bark that would intimidate anyone at the front door.
She was VERY smart, VERY head-strong. Smartest dog I’ve ever had anything to do with. By the time she died (cancer), she knew probably 3 or 4 dozen English phrases, and could act on them (if she felt like it). For instance, late on I realized she couldn’t see very well any more, as she would stumble when we were walking at night and came to a curb. I worked with her some and it didn’t take long for me to get her to follow my voice: I could give a small tug on her leash and say “Step up” or “Step down” and she would do so just the right amount and thus negotiate curbs. She knew “Go left” and “Go right” at corners and knew “Let’s go across” meant we would cross to the other side of a street. She slept on a cushion at the foot of our bed, but wouldn’t let us sleep until she got her nightly bed-time treats (vitamins and teeth cleaner). When she was going to the vet for treatments, they were impressed when they saw how I walked her and how she responded.
She’d stick her nose in your crotch, waiting for a head scratch. Even better, she liked her chest rubbed below her collar. But her favorite: she’d walk past you, then back up and present you with her backside, just waiting for a good rub above and around her tail.
The whole family cried when she was put to sleep. I miss her still. My current dog, though lovable, is a relative moron. She’s stubborn, only hears me when she is hungry or otherwise knows food is involved. When I walk her, I have to hold the leash very firmly, lest she veer into the path of an oncoming car or truck, which she thinks she should chase (we mostly don’t have sidewalks here, just bike lanes). Not only does she not follow voice commands, she tries to pull me at right angles to our intended route, and though only 50 pounds, she is probably as strong as my previous dog (current one was rescued and determined to be at least half lab; later they decided that maybe a good portion of her DNA is pit bull). I’m about 220 pounds and I have trouble controlling her walk at times. She has actually pulled me to the ground several times when she lurched unexpectedly (squirrel, possum, cat).
She’s dumb, but I would cry over this one now.
I lost a lot of my pictures in a house fire several years ago. But now, I’m curious if I can locate any on old computer files. If I can find any, you’ll see the resemblance I talked about in the shapes.

A bunch recently just lost the last of their flowers so I cut the stalks back. I do that because the new stalks typically produce more flowers. I also feed a light fertilizer that I make every time I water them except when they’re in bloom. A few of them are 15-16 years old.
@phendrick @sammydog01 I feel you. We had a full blown basset when we lived in England. We wound up rehoming him with a basset rescue when I went to work because he developed a seriously unhealthy attachment disorder. I had him from 7 weeks and we did everything together for the first two years. When I started working it was a massive shock to him. He would just howl for hours. We tried all kind of things but finally decided it was in his best interest to bring him to the rescue. I will say it was the best and worst day ever. The sound of 9 bassets running around was amazing. He wound up going to live on a farm with another dog in Sheffield and lived an amazing life. I did cry for three days straight after we rehomed him though. One of the hardest decisions I’ve made.
This one is already proving she’s going to be amazing. She’s smart as a whip and super mischievous. She’s also taking cues from her “big sister”. I know that when either of them is gone there will be some serious ugly crying going on. The two we have now are both Great Danes on their mothers side so it’s just fitting.

@Kyeh it actually was. I put a little rope of marzipan in there as well and the icing was a cream cheese affair. I don’t like the overtly sweet icing and sugar on traditional king cakes. It’s just too much IMO. The tartness of the rhubarb and strawberries was perfect with the little bit of almond sugary goodness and the cream cheese just rounded it out perfectly.

@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @sammydog01 @Star2236 they really love south facing windows. I would recommend indirect light. West can be great too but sometimes they can get too warm depending on the placement or climate. In the PNW west windows are typically fine unless they get too much direct light. I just water them really well every 2-3 weeks typically and the misting is great for the roots. They just don’t like to be really wet. I’m going to start trying to mount some on cedar boards this summer.
@Kidsandliz @sammydog01 @sillyheathen @Star2236 Hmmm - that’s quite different from what she’s doing, I think. She’s in a condo so there’s only one really good window, facing west, and she waters much more frequently. But then it’s very dry here.

@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @sammydog01 @Star2236 yeah. There’s a ton of people that debate the ice cube thing but I think there was a study done, which I will have to go look up. It’s about the ice cube watering. Some plant people lose their ish over it because orchids are typically found in subtropical or tropical climates which rarely have low temps. But I guess the aerial roots etc don’t have any real damage until exposed to temps in the 20s? Again this is all paraphrasing from a very tired unmedicated neurodivergent brain piece. Anyway the temp from melting ice is typically between 33-36 degrees and I guess what they found was that it actually aided in the longevity of blooms on the stalk. So doing the ice cube once a week with a humidifier or just misting, I recommend the longburst sprayers that a lot of hairstylists use, would probably be an amazing way to treat them. I would say if she wants so get really clever she could mix a solution with a weak fertilizer and freeze it so they get fed at the same time. Then just use plain ice when the stalks bloom.

I read the same thing about orchids. I haven’t had an orchid in a long time bc I killed a few. I could never remember to water that frequently. I water my plants about once a month but there are some now I do on a weekly basis so it might be time for another orchid.
