If you are in Lake Wales or you took that one exit off of I-95 south of Ft. Pierce it is the citrus processing plant. There is no car sealed well enough to keep that stench out.
@yakkoTDI US 287 through the Oklahoma panhandle. You drive through a seemingly endless series of feedlots, packing houses, rendering plants, and offal dumps

Since I was a kid, the Purina Chow plant in Denver has been notorious for smelling bad. (Once we were driving by and my mother accidentally made a funny Spoonerism - she called it “Chowina Pee-ew.”)
Recently someone initiated a lawsuit to try to get them to curb the stench.
These days… it’s got to be the orange peel that my guy forgot to throw out and it’s now smelling skunk like, nice and moldy!
When I was a little girl we’d drive by a huge cow pasture almost daily and while us kids were carrying on about the stench my nana told us how that awful smell of the cows/cow manure was actually GOOD FOR US and that it cleaned out our lungs! After that, I would secretly take in deep breaths every time we drove past those cows!
@Kyeh Yeah, I think I’d get the blacked out cover-up for posting fake news if I’d written something like that on FB! But who doesn’t like a good grandma story… Lol
Hey you don’t have to ride in my car if you don’t like it, I guess you don’t truly need a Ride!
The driver’s shoes.
(There’s a story.)
We are in Houston. The smell is not just in the car. NO!!! Don’t open the window!
@hchavers But we have so many smells, with such variety…
(It used to be a lot worse, when Champion Paper still had a plant on the northeast side.)
Roadkill burning on the catalytic converter. (There’s a reason it has “cat” in the name.)
We are driving through Kaukauna, WI
(hometown of Merkts cheese spread)

@werehatrack @yakkoTDI Pulp mills have a horrific stink as well.
@yakkoTDI You might want to refresh the contents of your trunk.

I think the correct answer is “you”
Sports gear. Ugh
I believe this was definitively answered in the landmark 1937 case Smeltit V. Dealtit.
@macromeh Since diluted by the 1956 decision in Littletrees v. Funk, which arguably made the situation worse.

@Lynnerizer Haha - clever lady, even though I don’t believe her.

It’s just the dead body in the trunk.
@OnionSoup You know not to loan your car to @yakkoTDI without getting it detailed afterwards.
