What is the best short film you've seen in the last year?
3Okay, the music thread is great fun . . . However, being the cinephile I am, I'm curious - what is the best short film that you've seen in the last year? I have a hard time distinguishing what may be the "best" (and perhaps we might want to categorize by genre if this thread gets traction) - but here's the best short-doc I've seen in a long, long while. Enjoy! And share!

And there's also this masterpiece:
Set against the space-race canvas of the 1960's, Anomaly is inspired by the traditional Christmas Nativity and explores, through a modern-day lens, the events of two-thousand years ago. It is a story about relationships that intertwine around an unprecedented astronomical event, as a couple navigate life's realities at a time of unfathomable significance. Filmed on location in NYC, Maine, Kansas, and Colorado.
Double click (quickly) once it begins to launch full screen or click to watch it on Vimeo directly . . .
Okay, this is a 2013 video but I didn't see it until last year. It's embedded in this Rolling Stone page but it is well worth looking at. Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone," seen on TV with changeable channels and every channel lip syncing the song.

David Cronenberg's "The Nest". It's on YouTube but I won't link it 'cause even the preview pic is NSFW. Probably not one to watch with the whole family, but it is quite a bit more horrifying than even most full-length big-budget movies even come close to.
I'm not a film buff, but I know what I like.
Too Many Cooks really stuck out for me based on it's bizarre surrealism and innocent foreshadowing. Honestly, you have to watch it multiple times to really appreciate what's going on.
I really like this topic, I didn't get a chance to watch these yet so...

@carl669 I enjoyed that one too, however, if I remember correctly it took a lot of heat for being somewhat "recycled" (storytelling) . . . I didn't necessarily agree. Great VFX. Good pull.
@carl669 Thought you may enjoy this:
@JonT
I think you're just about skewed enough to like this one about as much as I do . . . .
@Pavlov I wanna check out a bunch of these tonight, thanks!
@JonT If you have time, this one is short - about a year / year and a half old . . . But kicks ass.
This one will mess with your head for a few weeks (or more). Click the image to watch on Vimeo.
Your first selection - Beautiful by Night - "Everything is desperately important to me, but nothing matters".
Brilliant.
Thanks for sharing.
I like this thread too - don't know why it doesn't get more traction.
This one is my favorite from last year...
@thismyusername Very nice!
This one popped up on Vimeo recently.
Not perfect . . . . But, Whoa.
