For me, it’s more the feeling a story gives you, rather than the medium. Realistic psychological horror that pulls you in & inspires you to empathize with the victim is what gets to me the most, although it doesn’t happen often. I don’t scare easily, it’s more of an uneasiness that sticks with me.
@Targaryen That makes sense because your imagination can really take over while reading, but if the images are created for you, they end up being limited & don’t necessarily fit into your experience of the world like stuff in your own head would, and ultimately, you know they’re not real, no matter how realistic.
Watching it. Reading I can just stop. I don’t play the games.
@Kyeh That’s fair.
Experiencing it.
@rockblossom You want to be in a horror?
@Targaryen “Wanting” was not in the question - just what was scarier.

For me reading gets me more, but that’s probably because I really get into it when I’m reading.

@ircon96 Yeah exactly, especially for horror stuff too I have a decent imagination so I get pulled with good writers.
