@werehatrack all trolling aside, it was the best movie, and if we’re including the various serials, then it would need to be Andor, which is a prequel to Rogue One.
@werehatrack@yakkoTDI I did it myself, back when the movie was released. And got called on it by my stepdaughter who doesn’t care about Star Wars at all, but lives for makeup.
@xobzoo Even Lucas wanted to forget the Holiday Special. But we will never allow him the luxury; it has been preserved as a mark of eternal shame unto him and his memory, for all time.
@xobzoo@yakkoTDI Fortunately for us, Lucas no longer has the option, and he has stated that if he’d had the ability to recover and destroy all of the copies of SWHS, he’d have done so. But because it was broadcast in the era when people were already taping things off the air, he’d never get them all. Disney owns it now, and after one also-embarrassing resurrection attempt, it’s buried as deep in their vaults as Song Of The South for an entirely obvious reason. (They don’t hand out an Emmy for “Most Embarrassing Attempt At A Tie-In”, but Song of the South at least got an Oscar for Best Song.)
We literally just got done watching Ep 9 The Rise of Skywalker last night (after watching the entire series, 1-9, in chronological order over this past week!) So imagine my surprise seeing the socks come up tonight! Either the Force is with Meh by helping them to score a purchase from me, or Meh is listening in at my house again…
I’d previously seen all of the movies over the years, but had never watched them in actual order. I was a little kid when the original trilogy came out and I wanted to see if it changed the depth of my understanding of the story. It definitely did.
I know lots of people have strong feelings about the prequel and the sequel trilogies (especially JJ Abram’s treatment of the story in the last couple of movies), but I really enjoyed them. (I may have enjoyed the sequel trilogy a lot more because I’m a big fan of Adam Driver, and I LOVED his Kylo, and his storyline with Rey. ) Plus…seeing Luke, Leia, Han and Chewie return in their iconic roles just made the entire sequel trilogy such a blast for me to watch!
I was genuinely sad last night when we finished watching The Rise of Skywalker because it sounds like Disney has no plans to continue the Skywalker lineage arc since Ben died (even though Rey took the name). I’m not sure a Star Wars without a Skywalker will feel the same to me.
I actually thought about it briefly before typing…but since it’s been 5 years since the movie came out I figured everyone who cared to know, already did, lol! But you are right…I shouldn’t have said it, and I apologize.
I guess I’m just feeling kind of bitter that I won’t get any more Adam Driver/Kylo Ren storylines. I think they could have gone so much deeper with his backstory and rise to power.
@pmarin@yakkoTDI We can hope. For about a decade, there was a convention dealer here in Texas, Lazy Dragon, that displayed a bloodied latex JarJar head on a pike at the back of their sharp-pointy-things booth.
Rogue One because it’s the least “Star Wars” of them all. It’s just a good movie all around. I loved that not only was it easy to get wrapped up in the story and characters but that unlike much of the main movies, nobody had plot armor and every good guy was at risk. You feel the increased tension that came from the realization nobody was safe
Was Revenge of the Sith left off the list on purpose? Maybe because it’s the most obvious pick for the best non-OT movie. I really like the Tartakovsky Clone Wars series, the episodes are short enough that I’d consider them all together as a film. Absent that I guess I’d pick Rogue One. I didn’t hate Solo, either, but I wish Lord/Miller were able to direct from their original script.
Rouge One.
@yakkoTDI yes, those rosy cheeks were so compelling
That’s no typo, it’s a blatant troll! (And someone had to do it.)
@werehatrack all trolling aside, it was the best movie, and if we’re including the various serials, then it would need to be Andor, which is a prequel to Rogue One.
@werehatrack It was an unintentional, I really should go to bed because I am sleepy troll.
@yakkoTDI It was worth doing, whether you meant to or not.
@werehatrack @yakkoTDI I did it myself, back when the movie was released. And got called on it by my stepdaughter who doesn’t care about Star Wars at all, but lives for makeup.
None of the above
The OG where ok. But the new ones I don’t like.
I like them all! Except maybe the Ewoks animated series. LOL
So you are admitting that you liked the Star Wars Christmas special, eh @PooltoyWolf?
/showme The Star Wars Christmas Special
@haydesigner You should not have reminded me of that! On the other paw, the LEGO Star Wars christmas special is great.
@PooltoyWolf WHAT!?! Ewoks where the best! I love the 2 movies they made
Star Wars Christmas Special!
Oh, and who could forget The Ewok Adventure?
@xobzoo Even Lucas wanted to forget the Holiday Special. But we will never allow him the luxury; it has been preserved as a mark of eternal shame unto him and his memory, for all time.
@werehatrack @xobzoo Why doesn’t he just release an edited version with new special effects and other piles of poop included?
@xobzoo @yakkoTDI Fortunately for us, Lucas no longer has the option, and he has stated that if he’d had the ability to recover and destroy all of the copies of SWHS, he’d have done so. Definitely Rogue One.
After the original trilogy, they all seemed rather meh to me, as if taking themselves too seriously…
@phendrick “You came in that? You’re braver than I thought!” is serious?
/youtube Star wars Christmas special
@Pavlov many things have been made that were worse, but that was a particularly awful effort.
Not a movie, but Andor is my most favorite story to have ever come out of the Star Wars Universe. Just incredible.
By “Clone Wars,” do y’all mean the Genndy Tartakovsy animated semi-feature? Because that’s worth at least an honorable mention.
@jsfs Rebels is worth an honorable mention
Spaceballs
@heartny OMG that was an awesome film! I think George Lucas liked it!
DIPLOMAT! RAT-A-TAT! FAT CAT! AWESOME!
@heartny Merchandising!

Rogue One
The Bad Batch was a remarkably good animated series, albeit with a bit of excessive plot armor at times
The Clone Wars TV series was also rather interesting.
@Wireball_ yep it was, I really enjoyed it

Something went terribly wrong. Please try again.
You mean almost everything after RotJ?
@haydesigner I am so, so sorry!!
I actually thought about it briefly before typing…but since it’s been 5 years since the movie came out I figured everyone who cared to know, already did, lol! But you are right…I shouldn’t have said it, and I apologize.

The Naboo Jar-Jar Binks Chainsaw Massacre
@pmarin Please tell me it is Jar-Jar getting chainsawed like the scene in Scarface.
@pmarin @yakkoTDI We can hope. For about a decade, there was a convention dealer here in Texas, Lazy Dragon, that displayed a bloodied latex JarJar head on a pike at the back of their sharp-pointy-things booth.
@pmarin @yakkoTDI Darth Jar-jar would explain many things.
@werehatrack @yakkoTDI @blaineg but to complete the extension of the name, I think a Jar-Jar head preserved in a Jar would be more appropriate.
EDIT It would be the Jar-Jar-Jar.
@blaineg @pmarin @werehatrack @yakkoTDI Jar Jar in a Jar makes me think of this T-Zone
Rogue One
This is like which film is the Best of the Worst. I guess I would say “The Force Awakens” as it is the least terrible.
But I would love to see “Rogue One” as originally intended by the Director. It was supposed to be a combination of “Star Wars” and “Apocalypse Now”.
Rogue One because it’s the least “Star Wars” of them all. It’s just a good movie all around. The one on YouTube where fans each took a few minutes of the movie and recreated it then put them all together to complete the film.
The fan-made TIE Fighter anime short film.
Don’t like Star Wars. Liked it when I was a kid but not now that I’m an adult.
