@werehatrack The reason being cavendish bananas are garbage. If you get a chance, try different varieties from a tropical farmer’s market or Asian store.
@Weboh I’ve tried a number of other varieties in the past twenty years without effect. The reason for my dislike goes back to the early '60s. We had bananas in the back yard, and late one summer, my father hung three large stems in the shed to ripen. So, of course, they all ripened at the same time. The splash damage put me off of them pretty much permanently.
@werehatrack That’ll do it. So nobody else has to go through the same trauma, there’s tons of uses for green bananas. Fry them like plantains, cut them thinner and fry them into chips (that last a long time), pulverize them into flour, give them away, compost them, feed to livestock… They produce so much abundance but if you’re creative you won’t waste any of it.
Ok Back when frozen yogurt was a big deal and we had yogurt shops with all kinds of toppings…I would go on the day they had peanut butter flavor, I would always get banana slices on it and it would tasted wonderful! I finally asked what the liquid was that the bananas where floating in cuz it tasted so good! Well, it was fresh PINEAPPLE JUICE! And to this day I marinate my banana slices in pineapple juice! Tastes great AND keeps them from turning brown…can store them 2 days in fridge this way too. Try it!
@chienfou Back in another lifetime, I worked in a restaurant where it was a seasonally featured and very popular dessert item. The little twist was the butter pecan swirl ice cream sourced from a supplier whose name escapes me. But I still remember that taste
Growing up my Dad used to make homemade banana ice cream whenever we had a family get-together in the summer (sometimes peaches if in season). The old style, with hand cranking and rock salt. What a special memory .
Nowadays I take the lazy no-churn road…mashed bananas, heavy whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk. Mix and freeze. Not the same but still pretty damn good.

@werehatrack Trebuchet is one of my favorite fonts. Probably doesn’t go well with bananas.
@werehatrack Did the doctors laugh at you while helping get the banana unstuck?

@yakkoTDI Once the trebuchet has flung them, they tend to just peel away from the target and drop to the ground.

Cinnamon
My mom used to slice bananas lengthwise, then top with marshmallow créme and jelly. Kind of like this, but no PB sandwich component.
Monkeys
pan fried along with rum, butter, cinnamon & brown sugar

@tasu99 Does it soften the texture…say the banana was slightly green?
@tasu99 Thanks for the tip

True enough… Not a complaint, just a note for those that don’t know what BF is.
