What Goats with White Wine? (September 2022 Scapegoat Blame Thread)
16Wait. September? That can’t be right. It’s like May 2020. Where has the time gone?
I guess @hchavers did catch a whole month of flak in August so September checks out. That means it’s time for someone to finish out the summer and lead us into the falling goats. Who better than our in-house wine snob, @MarkDaSpark?
A toast to the goat, even if we’ve not heard much from @MarkDaSpark since the beginning of August. There’s no escaping the angry mod when you’re to blame, and we all know it’s your fault. Here’s to cooler days and cooler goats.

I’ll drink to that!!

What a perfect and elegant image, that wine accessory thing! I’m sure our goat could tell me the proper term for it, right, @MarkDaSpark?
@Kyeh.
Wine pourer thingy … so you don’t lose any precious drops of wine!
(It actually is called a Wine Pourer)
@MarkDaSpark What? No elegant French name or anything? It’s a bit weird with the goat seemingly vomiting wine, but kind of elegant as well. I assume it aerates the wine?
@Kyeh Probably no aeration to speak of. Just saves those precious drops of elixir!
Seems like there was one that went on the bottle, but IIRC, it fell off easily! I got several, but my latest one goes on the decanter, and you just turn the bottle over!
@MarkDaSpark Oh, that’s clever.
@Kyeh @MarkDaSpark
I use a vinturi and love it. I also have a thin glass/crystal one but the name escapes me and I’m at work…
@Kyeh
And you turn it back over to get the wine back into the bottle to serve it!
@chienfou @Kyeh
The original ones used to include a mini filter for the top to catch stuff (cork bits, sediment, etc.), but later ones left it off. Guess they figured we already had those … although looking now, it appears some still include it.
I have 2 of these packed away in my wine gatherings box (along with filters, wine pourers, wine-away spray, corkscrews, Argon cans (used to keep oxygen from open wines), Wine Charms (used on wine glasses), and other wine necessities.
@chienfou @MarkDaSpark Wow, that second one is a classy-looking device!
@Kyeh @MarkDaSpark
That looks like a Vinturi on a stand!
What goats with white wine?
Goat cheese, obviously.
Now I need a snack; I’ll hoof it on over to the quick mart.
@phendrick A snack you say?
@mike808 @phendrick
Mmm… tasty!
@mike808 @phendrick @pmarin
Is that store in GA?
@chienfou No idea. Maybe Rome, GA, in the 14th District?
Should I post about Halloween in September?
@mike808 Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if the stores are already talking about Christmas!!
@Lynnerizer I was at Lowes earlier this week in one of the back corners of the store (picking up polycarbonate roof panels, TYVM) and I had to snake my way around 3 pallets of artificial X-mas trees to get to 'em.
@bee1doll @mike808 @Lynnerizer Heck, Christmas stuff was so early July.

@MarkDaSpark…Blame! this goat for The Goat, Serena lost her final professional match last night, I’m sad & it’s all your fault.
@ircon96 Yes I wish she had gone out on a win.

@ircon96

/giphy Goat-don’t-care
@MarkDaSpark Now now, don’t be a hater!
@ircon96
To be a Hater, doesn’t one need to care first?
@MarkDaSpark Well, what a fair-weather goat we have here.
Fuck. Just fuck. It’s hot. It’s actually muggy this morning. Due to the heat, the house is closed off at night, with the A/C going. Cats and dog can get out through a small opening in a screen door (above that is blocked with a thick piece of foam).
Open up the office, cats come running in for their morning treats. I do a short headcount. Need to find Wanda.
Go into the garage to open the door for air. Step outside. Look down the side of the house. Puzzled at what I see. When did we get a bush by the tree?
Then I realized what I was looking at. Ah, shit! Close the door, run inside shouting for Brian. And I was shouting. He hurriedly got dressed. I went outside and started corraling cats, getting them back into the house. Bucky went out the cat door. Set the catdoor so that it wouldn’t open either way. Go outside and was able to get Bucky. Do another headcount.
Sorry, it’s blurry. Brian had already started cleanup when I took this. Head counts, it was still kind of dark outside.
Blaming the goat.
Unblame? No cats were hurt, no cats got out of the yard. And believe me, that’s huge.
@lisaviolet Glad it missed your house and no animal decided to explore the great unknown . I know you dread having all the animals in your house for several days while the fence gets fixed. Hope they don’t drive you crazy in the meantime… and of course then there are escape artists when the two of you go in and out yourselves.
@Kidsandliz Thanks. We kind of have the door dashing under control. The office has a sliding door that leads to the backyard. And we can close the office off. So, if a cat dashes under feet into the office, there’s no place to go since the door to the backyard is closed.
It’s muggy and 85°. It’s a little after eight. This heat wave is supposed to start dying down after Tuesday. I sure hope it does.
The neighbors were super nice, he offered the use of his truck to haul the tree stuff away. Brian just wanted access to their back yard so he can clean up the mess on that side of the fence.
Add to that mess, the trash pandas made a right mess in the entry way. We have a fountain that’s ground level. The water recirculates. There are three bowls, one flows into the next.
It looks like they brought the whole neighborhood for a bath. It didn’t help that I’d put an old bag of dry dog kibble out there for the birds and forgot about it. The raccoons found it. The bag has now been dumped in the front yard for the crows, not that there was much there.
Welcome September!
@Kidsandliz @lisaviolet
Wasn’t me! I was busy drafting all the wrong players in Fantasy Football yesterday!
Happy that all the animal children are fine.
BTW, I wouldn’t look in your Attic right now … (trouble comes in 3’s)
The bird holder was a gift from my nephew … the wine, well, there’s a whole story that goes into it. TL:DR is that it’s a blend that 5 of us helped to create for the old WW (new Casemates Wine) site during a Napa/Sonoma wine tour.
CellarTracker Woot Cellars Revelry from Wellington (one our favorite wineries in Sonoma/Napa area).
Basically, @snapster and @Winedavid49 got together and added wine to the old site, and then did it again here with Casemates.
We had lots of participants, and started doing gatherings to share wines. Even a competition for distance and how many (some were in California, others in Detroit, Northern Virginia (NoVa), New York City, Buffalo, etc.
During an online discussion in a WW thread, someone posted that one member who had family, history, and contacts in Napa/Sonoma wine industry should host a tour. His HS (or college) reunion was coming up, so it worked out for our first RPM Magical Historical Tour of Napa/Sonoma!
Repeated about every 2 years, and in 2016, we got a chance to “blend” a wine for a Woot Cellars offer (if it was good enough). We were divided into 2 groups, and then each group was divided into teams of 4 (total of around 28 or so people).
The first group went first on their blending, while our group did some tasting (and spitting, 4 or 5 wineries a day necessitated doing so!).
Then we tasted our previous group’s team blend. Almost good, but not quite there. Using their blend as a base, we altered the percentages of the grapes used (Cab Sauv, Cab Franc, Merlot, Malbec, & Petit Verdot) until we had a blend we thought was “just right”.
We started high fiving (for you young’uns that’s raising 1 open hand and slapping someone else’s open hand) each other. Then said we should call this wine “High Five”!
Both groups joined and we started tasting each Team’s blends. Ours got the most votes, but the final determination would be at dinner that night with the 2nd place blend.
Once again, at the dinner, our blend won! Woot Cellars Revelry is the result. The winemaker, Peter Wellington was (he retired) one of our highly respected winemakers, especially with his insights into winemaking.
@MarkDaSpark @snapster @Winedavid49
Wow! Impressive! Did they actually produce the blend, or was it a one-time experience?
@Kyeh @snapster @Winedavid49
Not only was it the Woot Cellars Revelry offer (click on that link above), it was also used by the winemaker, with some slight changes, as that year’s Victory Reserve blend by Wellington Vineyards.
@MarkDaSpark @snapster @Winedavid49
Fantastic! Have you continued with the blending competitions?
@Kyeh @snapster @Winedavid49
Sadly no. Because in 2018 we went to Lodi/Amador wine regions. And then the kerfuffle preempted any others.
We are discussing one next year, to coincide with the 5 year anniversary of Casemates! A newbie tour in Napa/Sonoma before or after a Casemates event, then a veteran tour in summer of Oregon wineries.
But I was a Wine Judge at a couple of New World International Wine Competitions (NWIWC) through another favorite Wine.Woot winemaker! That was an experience!
@MarkDaSpark @snapster @Winedavid49
I bet that was a blast!
@Kyeh @snapster @Winedavid49

FYI, Buena Vista (Oldest Winery in California, 1857) gave us the first (or so) “talk” by the “Count” who founded Buena Vista (Agoston Haraszthy, self-proclaimed Count of Buana Vista). He became a regular after we gave a positive response to him!
He served as the first Sheriff of San Diego before moving north (thus BV has a “Sheriff” label) to wine country. Also, he brought back around 300 wine varietals from Europe.
Hey goat (@MarkDaSpark) you can buy that goat wine poury thing (along with a bunch of other ones) for under $23. Maybe you should reward yourself with one for winning the goat so you have something to remember this month by since the trophies are long gone.
https://www.wildlyrefined.co/product-p/goat-m-antique.htm
@Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark
So, the TL;DR version is:
Go trophy yourself.
@Kidsandliz @mike808
Do they carry them at the brick MorningSave store is the question!
@MarkDaSpark @mike808
@Kidsandliz @mike808.
Nope! But lots of other good stuff! Although I guess the Beer BottleKeeper could work …
@Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark @mike808
I want a brick and mortar morning save store near me!
God, I hate a whiner…
@Kidsandliz
That’s perfect!! Every wine drinking goat should get one of those! Heck, I’d even put one on my olive oil or soap bottle on the kitchen sink!! And at $22 it’s a bargain!!
I suppose I should check previous goat months to review the duties involved.
Nah …
@MarkDaSpark Just showing up and interacting will set you above a couple of our previous loser goats (looking at you, @yakkoTDI, @hchavers .)
And educating/informing us about wine is definitely a plus! We had a fruit-tree expert goat - @Weboh, and a Lego expert goat -@kykazaa, but no wine goat AFAIK. Lots of inventive and clever goats in the long-past glory days of goatdom, but noticably fewer recently.

@Kyeh He said they named it after Berta on Two and a Half Men. I’m not sure it was intended as a compliment.
@ircon96 No, I don’t either.
Blame! 45 days and counting that we can’t drink the water (and two weeks prior to that we had 2 weeks we couldn’t drink it either). And they haven’t even tested it yet because they know it will still fail. And despite all the blame shifting and butt covering our mayor and governor are doing they still are idiots. Denying responsibility does not make it true. Unblame. At least it is finally back on. The national news finally got someone to act to do anything at all.
Blame. The national news is over it and moved on. Unfortunately locally we aren’t and can’t. And the EPA and FEMA said they’d only help get it back on, not fix the underlying issues. So… the question becomes, while it is free, how many cases of water can you fit into 525sf? I have already paid for 9 and that’s a budget killer. I’ve picked up 9 more counting the 3 deliveries I arranged to this HUD (Blame that management isn’t doing that - although corporate brought down 5 cases for 128 apts when they came. Hmm I think this is an “are you kidding me? Just 5?” situation). Unblame someone else, not management, arranged a delivery too.
Blame. I am up at this hour because the damn cats knocked over a stack of 4 cases. Unblame neither cats nor water bottles got broken. And while I was up I killed about a dozen roaches feasting in the cats’ food dish I forgot to pick up (blame) for the night. Unblame killed, blame they were there to kill to begin with, blame mgt only has a roach killer company come once every 3 months and I have to buy tons of combat - which, unblame, is starting to work.
@Kidsandliz Whew! That’s a lot… The goat has his work cut out for him this month! But seriously, good luck with ALL of that.
@Kidsandliz
Hey! No blaming for what happened prior to my ascension/decension(?) to the GOAT throne!
Blame goes to the Goat then on the throne!
@MarkDaSpark No - the can’t drink the water is still continuing on your watch as was most of the national news stuff. And the cats knocked over that pile the other night.
@ircon96 It is a giant PITA. And then the fuckheads who own this building “randomly” picked me for a white glove inspection. Notice on the door this morning. I didn’t see it until 10, they were inspecting prior to lunch. By law they were required to give 24 hour notice. Fortunately I called the people you call for complaints who let them know they were breaking policy and so as I had the place cleaned up by 3pm I let them inspect so that I didn’t have to vacuum again Friday due to cats. I am on the waiting list to get away from these pieces of shit who bought the place. Previous owners never did this kind of thing to us.
@Kidsandliz Given your work and your health issues are you locked into this god awful place and state or is there any hope you can return to a civilized state at some point in your life.
@Kidsandliz
The cats … ok.
But the water …
@Kidsandliz What a bunch of useless tools! They have nerve doing inspections, considering the level of neglect they subject you & your neighbors to! I’d start collecting some of those roaches you have to hunt/kill in a baggie, & next time they show up like that, hand it to them & ask them wtf they intend on doing about THAT! Maybe if they did more pest inspections & fewer tenant harassment visits, they could accomplish something useful.
@Felton10 I am on waiting lists to get the hell out. Trouble is so many on the waiting lists also live here and the lists are longer than they used to me. Here - next to no waiting lists. Gee I wonder why. Too many people leaving. The place I most want to get into has 93 on the list before me and only 70 apts. someone else got out last month after 3.5 years on that waiting list. But I am on a number of waiting lists.
@Felton10 PS and some places out of state. Places in state out of this county (three counties come together here with the city as the epicenter) so escape the water issues.
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz
Poli-Ticks (on both sides) … screwing up on Critical Problems for decades! While combating lesser problems.
July 1st our enlightened Democratic Majority (have to look if they’re still in Super Majority or close) in California had their idiotic law go into effect … you have to ASK for your straws, utensils, condiments, etc. now.
Of all our problems, that’s the “critical” issue they worked on.
Good luck on getting a new place soon! As well as getting the city to fix your water!
@Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark Doubt if having to ask for straws etc is as life threatening and inconvenient as not having clean drinking water. If that is all you have to complain about, I’d say you are pretty lucky.
@Felton10 @MarkDaSpark I’m pretty sure he was making a joke. Besides you don’t drink wine through straws do you. Oh wait you might have snuck it in somewhere in those water bottle cover thing for beer. Then you’d need an opaque straw?
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz
Dude! It was the FACT that THEY thought it was more critical to pass that law INSTEAD of working on more important issues (such as water, power, etc.)!! That’s what I was complaining about!
Still having power issues because they shut down our 2 Nuclear power plants and the weeks of 100° degree heat with everyone needing to go to Cooling Centers because you aren’t supposed to use AC during the day! And even with Solar, unless you have Powerwalls (or equivalent) to store the power, you are shut down!
Heaven knows what’s going to happen with the Power Grid when their plan to ban non-electric cars fully goes into effect. And the roads as well, because our high gas taxes (53.9 cents per gallon, $5.25 per gallon average price) pay for them.
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz
We use more subtle ways than those beer hats!
Baby Flask
For women:
@Felton10 @MarkDaSpark I bet no one thought of the unintended consequences of getting far less in gas tax money or added drain on the power grid. That shit show will be fun to watch (not, well except in “told you so mode” which won’t exempt you from the circumstances). And of course then the other problem is all the people who drive for 1000+ miles basically straight through except for stopping at night if it takes 45 min to charge the car back up that will turn into a 3 day trip. That is the main thing that I dread about only being able to buy electric cars. When I travel I don’t have time to have 45-60 min stops each time I need to “fuel up”.
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark
Oh, I am quite sure that they have considered the consequences. They most likely initially plan to ratchet up the fuel taxes, in order to more quickly get the remaining petroleum powered vehicles off the road. Then per-mile taxes, higher vehicle registration taxes and more new and exciting taxes to replace that revenue stream.
Something’s been feasting for weeks on the leaves of my tomato plant and I finally found it! Blame/unblame, I guess.
@Kyeh Damn hornworms! You need some braconid wasps to take care of those little buggers!
@ircon96 @Kyeh
@ircon96 @MarkDaSpark Lots of wasps around here but not the right kind, I guess. Lots of birds too - you’d think they’d snap up a big juicy morsel like that.
@Kyeh @MarkDaSpark Actually, they have a pretty fascinating (but gruesome, if you’re a target insect) life cycle, they’re parasitic/deadly to a variety of garden pests & the best part is, they don’t sting! I believe you can buy them, but there are things you can do to try to attract them to your garden, according to this article:
https://drecampbell.com/braconid-wasps-garden-benefits-how-attract-them/
I don’t have a Wine Buying Problem … I have a Wine Drinking Problem (I’m not drinking fast enough!)
FYI, we usually found on the Woot Cellar wines that they improved after a year in the bottle. So any Meh Cellar wines should be the same.
@MarkDaSpark Man, I was pretty disappointed in that Meh rosé. Are you suggesting it will get better over time?
@macromeh It usually does after a year. Try it again next year.
@MarkDaSpark Thanks, I’ll give it a shot. I’m definitely not a wine connoisseur, but I like what I like. My yardstick for rosé is the Pedroncelli meh offered in spring 2021. It was bright and refreshing, while the One Day Rosé seems rather bland. The latter was delivered to me late in the day in ~100F weather - the bottles were actually hot to the touch coming off the truck. I can’t help thinking that didn’t improve the taste any.
@macromeh
Yes, that might have ruined some or most. Were the corks pushed out or wine coming out the ends?
@macromeh lol
“Corks” … forgot it was a screw cap! One problem with screw caps … overheated wine will push the cork or wine out past it. Not so much with screw caps!
Almost forgot today is Thursday …
@MarkDaSpark You are the hostage for the month. Right?

@MarkDaSpark No cheers is what you say when you drink beer. At least that is what was said when I lived in the UK. Of course I don’t drink wine, beer or margaritas so I might be missing something (all pun intended)
@MarkDaSpark Blame - Boiling water right now means when you are done and wipe the inside of the pot to dry it the paper towel comes away black. Not drinking that. But I am still not going to drink wine, beer or margaritas.
@Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark
Euwww. Do you have a filter pitcher?
@Kyeh @MarkDaSpark No. I hauled 2 large containers elsewhere not on the city’s water system and filled out. Now I don’t have to boil to clean dishes or cook. I still use bottled for the cats and myself to drink. Going to another nearby city to do laundry too. Don’t want a light yellow stain on light clothing.
@Kidsandliz
That’s not BEER in the UK! Well, neither is “light/lite” iterations!
@MarkDaSpark You need to tag whomever it is that always says on the product thread that it can’t make margaritas. BLAME I can’t remember whom that is.
@Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark
That would be @alacrity.
@alacrity @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @MarkDaSpark

@Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark @mike808 @OldCatLady @RogerWilco @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack
Did you go through and count them?
Credit still goes to @alacrity who originated this piece of scintillating wit way back in 2017 or something.
Now I’ve proven that I also spend way too much time goofing around in the forums, past and present.
@alacrity @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @MarkDaSpark @mike808 @OldCatLady @RogerWilco @tinamarie1974
@alacrity notes when something will make margaritas, but @RogerWilco chimes in when they make shitty margaritas. Which is what I said. But you’re 100% right about who tags things in re: their functional margaritability most often. My bad.
@alacrity @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @MarkDaSpark @mike808 @OldCatLady @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack
This thread makes really shitty margaritas.
@alacrity @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @MarkDaSpark @OldCatLady @RogerWilco @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack

Way back in 2017, with the word “shitty” included. He looks pretty hot there, I have to say!
Next PSA:
BLAME: A trash panda ripped open the screen on the shop window and has been camping out in the crap stored in the rafters. I had wondered why I was suddenly finding raftercruft on everything; now I know. Exclusionary tactics are being deployed. The most annoying part is that I’m probably going to need to install a screen door so that I can keep the big blower moving air out while I work, but preclude unwanted small visitors. Damn trash pandas are getting positively arrogant. (A friend who lives several miles away called them “the raccoon mafia” because one or two will stand up and stare at you while the rest of the gang scurries from place to place past them. They apparently have learned that four of them working together can topple a city trash bin.)
@werehatrack Yeah, I hate them - way back before I knew better I thought they were cute. Huh.
@Kyeh @werehatrack
@Kyeh @werehatrack
@Kyeh @werehatrack Apparently >40% of raccoons tested are positive for rabies.
Once when investigating a ruckus among our chickens, I came upon a 30lb raccoon standing upright and growling at me. That dispelled any notion I had of them being “cute”. (Also, their poop is nasty tarry stuff that is difficult to clean up.)
/giphy slim-translucent-memory
Blame. 6+31+15= 52 days of can’t drink the water (with a bunch of days of no water at all). And actually it would be 55 days since it took them 3 days to tell us. Immediately prior to that we had 2 weeks of allegedly being able to drink it coming off 2 weeks of not being able to drink it. They keep lying about the end being in sight. Been saying that since about day 7 or 8.
@Kidsandliz. Wow.
But useful idiots will still keep voting for Them!
@MarkDaSpark idiots is the operative word. This state has a ton of them who vote against their own best interests and believe lies. At the state level that is republicans. At this city’s level that would be democrats.

@mike808 Better than “With a magnifying glass.”
Blame. Fred Franzia, the man behind “Two Buck Chuck” and other value-priced wines like Franzia’s box-o-wine, has died at 79.
Pour out some drain plonk.
UNBLAME - we can finally (allegedly anyway if you are gullible enough to believe what you are told in this city) drink the water. Some of us want to see the mayor and governor guzzle the stuff first, wait a few days to see if they get sick… and we have limited trust we will find out in a timely manner if it is undrinkable again. And no one is telling if they will test it every day until a pattern of drinkable water is seen.
Of course drinkable is relative because BLAME - too much lead and copper in the water so the are advising babies (eg formula) and pregnant women don’t drink it.
BLAME - we have no water, 2 days in a row, in our apartment building because the water pipes have been broken two days in a row (yesterday and today).
BLAME - today is the last day free water is given out, but
UNBLAME - I have a stash “just in case” the inevitable happens (our track record isn’t that good on that, finally fixed pumps or not as plenty of times we have good water pressure and can’t drink the water).
BLAME - I need a shower and haven’t been able to take one due to no water.
@Kidsandliz
/giphy stinky-stinky-stinky
@MarkDaSpark Now it is unblame. Water is back on. I took a cold shower (no hot water as it takes about 12 hours for the apt building’s hot water heater to heat up) just in case…

But did you end up with a “light yellow stain” on you???
Edit: So there is no confusion …

@mike808.
Using California approved textbooks?
Educational textbook publishers went by bigger markets (IIRC), thus CA, FL, and TX were the 3 markets that textbooks were tailored towards. California educators are VERY liberal.
Florida recently rejected a lot of textbooks for injecting non-relevent material into math books (others too)! So many examples of Common Core nonsense as well.
I’m all for making learning easier, and educating our kids to think things through, but far too many “educators” are indoctrinating our kids.
California recently ranked 44th in Education:
https://www.kusi.com/new-study-finds-california-schools-ranking-44-in-america/
More fun with CC …
@MarkDaSpark Um, you *do" realize that this “Common Core nonsense” you point out are actually consequences from prohibiting use of CC?
Please stop misrepresenting individual state’s failed educational systems as somehow a result of CC when in fact, no such thing ever happened.
Even then, CC was a result of individual states meeting to define CC in the first place. Then the Republican-controlled legislatures got mad they would be held accountable if they were going to take Federal taxpayer dollars to implement it. What a bunch of pious hypocrites who screw over our kids with their “states rights” (code for confederate secessionist racism if we’re going to be honest) indoctrination and then complain, blame everone except themselves, and whine for taxpayer-funded federal bailouts to save the same state-run educational systems they destroyed.
Even dogs know not to shit where they eat.
@MarkDaSpark @mike808
One of their secondary goals is to destroy the public school system entirely so that they can replace it with a privately operated one that is run for profit and held to no standards whatsoever. And guess who would be owning and running those schools? Anytime you hear the word “vouchers” , start cleaning the guns.
@MarkDaSpark @werehatrack
You mean like using taxpayer money to pay for indoctrinating kids?
WaPo:
From YU itself:
If it is a “religious corporation”, then why the fuck is YU defrauding taxpayers by pretending it is an educational institution?
That’s not a First Amendment issue. That’s fraud.
I guess when the majority wants everyone to pay for a common education, that’s “socialism”, but when you’re told you can’t take taxpayer money to educate children and indoctrinate them in religious teachings, that’s a magical infringement of a corporation’s so-called “First Amendment rights” and somehow “oppression” in enforcing the separation between church and state? WTF are they smoking?
@mike808 @werehatrack
Nice jobs of blowing smoke. First off, pretty sure that judge (whom, btw, isn’t the final arbiter of Law in NY) is going to be overturned. While one, if extremely technical, can say a Yeshiva is just an “educational corporation”, it is in fact a Religious based one! Look up the definition!
BTW, educational =/= non-religious. Rabbis are foremost teachers of Judaism, IIRC. Many educators at the University of Notre Dame were priests.
I like how “it never happened” when those are ACTUAL examples of teachers using CC. But please, keep using the Liberal interpretation!
Used to be getting a liberal education was being exposed to a wide variety of things, not today’s Liberal indoctrination where you need safe spaces and self-segregation (look it up, people are pushing it in dorms, etc.).
Why parents are fighting back all over the US, and being labeled wrongly by the Left.

@MarkDaSpark I have once again experienced that, although Long John Silver’s social media folks play up their ITLAPD deals, their actual B&M stores have no idea.
Which means you walk in thinking ITLAPD and then discover YTA.
Blame! Arrrggghh!

But it’s sunday now and you can bet that i’m all right

@mike808 Cool cat, man.
@mike808 What??? He ATE the batteries??? @shahnm now what are you going to do?
@mike808
@Kidsandliz @mike808 @shahnm
@Kidsandliz @mike808 Only thing we can do, really. The cat has to remain in the fridge and shit out whatever batteries might be needed on demand.
@mike808 @shahnm You might need to insert cat kibble in the cat for the cat to act like a battery vending machine. Just sayin’
@mike808 That’s what our grandson said! Before you get mad, hear me out!
Lol
@Lynnerizer OMG - is that really your grandson? And was he eating sour cream?
@Kyeh
Sure is, that’s Malcolm, 6 years ago! He’s such a cutie pie! Looks like there’s leftovers of some sort in the sour cream container, looks a bit chunky to me. My DIL took the pic and sent me that mornings shenanigans! Lol
@Lynnerizer He’s adorable! The expression on his face is so great!

I kinda thought there would be more whine … err, WINE questions this month!
@MarkDaSpark I guess maybe all the
whinoswinos are already over at Casemates?@MarkDaSpark Actually, what’s your opinion of those canned Mimosas being offered right now?
@Kyeh
Tempting. But I have waaaaayyyyyyyyy too much wine as it is!
And it’s spelled “Wineaux”.
@MarkDaSpark As in “Oh Neau! We’re out of Pineau!”
@mike808 Exactly! And I found just the wine for you! Pinot More.
Unblame.
Made it back from a 4-hour trip to Lowe’s and finished off the hair dryer holder project for SWMBO.
@mike808
You just need to add the eyes and nose, it’d be perfect!
@MarkDaSpark you know, that is the best looking salad Ive seen in a while!!!
@tinamarie1974
This salad looks good too!
@MarkDaSpark @tinamarie1974 That second salad has almost enough bacon.
@MarkDaSpark Too much cheese, but featuring one of my favorite vegetables, cow.
@werehatrack You can never have “too much cheese”!!!
@MarkDaSpark @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack
@MarkDaSpark I am the AntiCheezus. For me, the correct amount of the vast majority of cheeses is precisely zero. I make exceptions for mozzarella and a few that are similar, but the plastigoop sold as “cheddar” in the US is one of the things that is Right Out.
@werehatrack.
That’s not Not Cheese …
@MarkDaSpark @werehatrack no cheese, that is just wrong
/giphy say it ain’t so
@MarkDaSpark @tinamarie1974 @werehatrack
This, of course, is why I even own a laundry basket. Why did I even waste my money on cat beds (one on the lower left, and a raised one on the lower right)?
OMG they are multiplying!!! Just like dirty clothes do.
@Kidsandliz
Genetic selection at work… I wonder what is in that laundry. Should I be worried?
@Kidsandliz Seeing these without my glasses on, at first glance it looks like a view from above down into a cup of very weird coffree.
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh
Works better as a smaller picture!
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh
Fried chicken … or Puppies?
@Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark Chihuahuas or blueberry muffins?
@Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark
@Kyeh @MarkDaSpark that cat looks like a pretty normal cat. LOL. The places they choose to sleep can be so weird. I swear some of them have rubber bones or are boneless.
I had a window box of lawn grass on a table by the window for my cats to chew on. One cat of mine slept so often on that he killed the grass due to lack of sun.
@Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark They do have unusually loose ligaments, I think.
/giphy liquid cat
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @MarkDaSpark Some people maintain that cats are liquids.
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @werehatrack
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @werehatrack
@Kyeh @MarkDaSpark @werehatrack If they are liquid does that mean they are soup?
Hmm cat soup?
@Kidsandliz @MarkDaSpark @werehatrack
I have that middle bowl, but in blue - it’s Toby’s water bowl!
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @werehatrack
Hurricane on my doorstep-shit, shit and shit.
@Felton10 Yeah … I hope all you Floridians stay safe!
@Felton10 @Kyeh Yeah it looks like it will be a real problem for a huge swath of the coast. I have several family members in Tampa and am currently working with someone who lives on a canal in Tampa. I hope that somehow it doesn’t land as a force 4. Good luck boarding up and getting out.
@Felton10 stay safe my friend
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Well being 50 mile south of Tampa we are going to be affected by it big time. With all the stuff going on with my wife, need this like a hole in the head. At least we had the good sense when we built this house to spend the extra money to put in hurricane windows in the entire house so no putting up shutters or boarding up but power outages and the nice little pond we get in our back yard due to run off from the golf course cart path could be a problem with all the rain we might get (do have flood insurance). Thanks for everyone’s well wishes.
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @tinamarie1974
Yes, good luck Felton and continued healing prayers for the Mrs!
I have family in Fort Myers, Tampa and Ocala, already called to check in and wish them well. Prayers, good thoughts, luck and a lot of love for everyone who’s going to be affected. Stay safe!
@Felton10 @Kyeh @Lynnerizer @tinamarie1974
Presuming you even have power to answer, how is your family surviving this?
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @Lynnerizer @tinamarie1974
Stay safe, Florida peeps!
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @Lynnerizer @tinamarie1974 Only lost power for 15 minutes so far today even though 34k of the 36k who use PRECO in Manatee county lost power. And we only got 5 1/4 inches of rain when we were predicted to get 20-25 inches. So a lot better than most. And with hurricane windows and doors throughout the house, wind was no problem. Thanks for asking.
@MarkDaSpark Accurate enough about me when I lived in Miami. Then I escaped.
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @Lynnerizer @tinamarie1974
Another friend has a generator. So there’s that, because Solar won’t do!
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz @Kyeh @Lynnerizer @tinamarie1974
A LOT of energy in that storm. Too bad it couldn’t be bottled.

So @MarkDaSpark, I assume this is your wine glass?
Or maybe you’ve got this one?
@MarkDaSpark @werehatrack Oops my bad. That is what I get for not reading the thread well.
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh @werehatrack
Duh!
@MarkDaSpark @werehatrack Oh wait it is the goats fault I posted his image in his thread he had just posted because it is his fault I didn’t read well enough. Opps!
Unblame. It’s gonna happen!
@mike808
Wait … We have to wait 2 more years?
Woot! Only
Left in my sentence! And looks like we’ll have a Scream Queen for Halloween!
PS, great book, horrible movie. Lost 3 days from the book!

October PSA:
Blame. I took my muscle relaxer b4 I knew there was a thon. Now I am fading fast zzzzzzz
@tinamarie1974 But who knows if there’s even going to be IRKs…
@tinamarie1974 and right after I said that, there was one, but I’m out of practice, couldn’t get the sequence right!
@Kyeh and I was already asleep! Those muscle relaxers are potent!!!
@tinamarie1974 I guess that’s good, since you probably needed the sleep! Did you get an IRK since then, though?
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Well I only see just now (7:37pm central) there is one. I guess I missed the entire boat for irks. Oh well. Don’t need cooking items so those deals aren’t useful for me.
@Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974 Sometimes there’s one more late at night, I think?
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 Well somehow I got the one just now despite refreshing too soon so having to do it again, clicking on meh instead of buy first… I got very lucky. Good thing I set the alarm as I am being forced to learn a new stats program that is not intuitive and requires typing in a bunch of commands to do even simple things and that is not what I want to do. I have procrastinated until the very last possible minute such that the person I am working with gave me a call today telling me she was calling as a debt collector. so I am finally buckling down and learning the fucking program in between checking meh for irks.
In case anyone wants a free, lots of functions stats program, download R and Rstudio. You can upload excel data files. Plenty of youtubes telling you how to use it. But it is a real PITA compared to SAS and SPSS and for that matter even doing stats on excel (although excel is a PITA if you have to repeat the stat over and over on different variables and R, as it is turning out, not so much so). I did not want to learn yet another stats program. Nope nope nope.
@tinamarie1974 @Kidsandliz Congratulations! It’s your reward for buckling down and learning that program!
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 I’d trade not having to learn how to do it rather than get an irk. Knowing my luck I’ll get one worth about 50 cents. It would cost me way more than $10 to have someone do all the work I need to do with that fucking program for that class the two of us are creating the shell for. The other person took the easy way out using seniority to claim first dibs on excel and so I got to be the one stuck learning R. We are teaching how to do stats in both. Grump grump grump.
@Kyeh @tinamarie1974 You guys get an irk?
@Kidsandliz @tinamarie1974 Yes!
@Kidsandliz @Kyeh woo hoo!!!

(Also nice to be reminded of the days when the Philly kids weren’t shooting at each other.)
@phendrick I’d forgotten about them until I went looking for another song to add.
