Find a straight stick, jab it in the ground pointing at the sun, so there's no shadow. Then wait fifteen minutes.
That either tells you the time, or helps you find north. Can't remember which.
@saodell This is actually the way to find East, as the shadow will point east as the sun moves west. Scouting FTW!
