My phone has a headphone jack, a SD slot, and a removable battery. Also, Amazon isn’t even offering “up to $0.47” anymore because it’s a Windows Phone.
Quite honestly, I’m angered by it. I detest the idea of wireless headphones: one or two more batteries to worry about keeping charged or that won’t last as long as I want/need them to, tiny earbuds to fall out and get lost forever outside or even just disappear in the house, more expense because wireless, and perhaps most aggravating of all, lack of easy high quality sound. I have tried half a dozen Bluetooth headphones over the years, and every one of them imparted some amount of degradation to the sound quality. The novelty of not being tethered to my phone was cool for about 5 minutes before I realized the cord really didn’t bother me much. (I have narrow ear canals too, which means most earphones, earplugs, etc. just don’t work for me. I need nice large cushy over-ear cans, like my Sony MDR-X10s!)
The industry, spurred by Apple, seems to believe in forcing consumers to change their habits for no good reason. You can’t really argue that manufacturers NEED the tiny extra space occupied by the headphone jack for more technology or features. That jack has been in our phones for over a decade…they don’t suddenly need to remove it for something else to fit.
@djslack Blunt answer: if the phone is actually thinner than the headphone jack, I don’t want it! These devices are approaching the point of being too thin and frail to be practical.
@PooltoyWolf As a previous dissenter, I held the same opinions as you. Now having the Note 10+, I see that for my situation, it’s not as dire as I initially thought. I use my ATH-M50xBT headphones and they work great with a really long battery life. And I keep the USB-C AKG earbuds in my bag in the unexpected situation where my headphones die.
I’d still prefer a headphone jack, but it’s not the end of the world as expected.

Not at all, some of the “brave” phones have empty space where the jack was. But they do need to pad their profit margins with ridiculous things like $200 earbuds.
@ybmuG No first hand experience, but from what I’ve read, the function of USB C to headphone adapter varies wildly between phones & adapters. So look for what other people recommend.
@blaineg thanks. I have a great sennheiser external conference speaker (like the one meh sold a while ago) but it lacks Bluetooth and I really don’t want to have to replace it.
Have the Note 9 and I’m not upgrading to the Note 10 because they removed the headphone jack.
As long as my computer has one
I haven’t used wired head phones in years. Cords suck.
I hate headphones dying or dead because I forgot plug them in.
@rtjhnstn we are taking the plugs away so your headphones will last forever
As a scat fetishist I’m in favor of all eliminations.
What is worse for conference call than everyone being on a Bluetooth headset. Give me wired or give me frustration!
@hchavers
Wait, what’s the problem with that?
I think these people coming over and eliminating our headphone jacks is wrong-headed.

@narfcake You’re the ultimate minority.
@therealjrn Their market share rounds to 0%.
@narfcake Yes, I know Narf, as you have frequently told us.
It’s your imperfections that make you so perfect.
@therealjrn Well at their rate of decline, their market share should be in the negative percentages by this year’s end.
Don’t care. I don’t use headphones on my phone. Ever.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@PooltoyWolf A problem for some phones is that the headphone jack is thicker than they want to make the phone now.
But you could always do this:

@djslack @PooltoyWolf That guy’s a hero. Looks like an interesting channel too. Thanks.
@PooltoyWolf And this has a headphone jack.

@blaineg That is a very good point.
I, for one, am happy that headphones are light enough not to need them anymore.
Headphones with a wired and wireless option tho? My savior
@eethomp Sorry, non-ionizing radiation cannot cause cancer.
So is there a legit usb-c to headphone adapter of any sort? I have a dying Note4 and would rather buy a NOS replacement than a gimped 10
