My knuckles used to dry out in the winter, and the solution was rubbing chapstick into them. Something like vaseline would also probably work. IMO, preventing water loss externally like that works better than moisturizers – your skin is meant to keep external water out!
@Telanis Duke Cannon makes a brand of moisturizer/hand lotion called Bloody Knuckles. Maybe you should try it. Some of their other products are really good. I use their beard balm, for example.
@tweezak According to their site, it wasn’t for the military.
The history of Vaseline® Jelly starts in 1859, when Robert Chesebrough travelled to Titusville, a small town in Pennsylvania. That’s where oil workers had been using rod wax, an unrefined form of petroleum jelly – then just a simple by-product of the drilling they were working on – to heal wounded or burnt skin.
To hold my teeth in my head.
To erase that last mistake.

@Telanis this could be a thing. Dad used to do Vaseline and socks in winter. He was a machinist.
Not sure if there was some relationship. With fluids they used. Break fluid for example is extremely hydroscopic
@Telanis @unksol I rather enjoy my break fluid, but I find it more diuretic than hydroscopic.
@macromeh @Telanis I suppose I should spell correctly. The coffee just gave him headaches… So still a chemical problem but a little different
@unksol, are you sure you’re using all the correct words?

@Telanis @unksol I think Vaseline was developed for the military. Soldiers used it on small cuts and abrasions to prevent cracking and aid in healing.

@tweezak @werehatrack Rod wax? Really?
@werehatrack Thanks for the info. I guess I was misinformed. Not the first time.
@kittykat9180 clearly not. I want to blame Swype but hydroscopic vs hygroscopic had to be me
Nothing. Never chewed, maybe because my teeth were bad. Now it would pull on my caps.
For blowing bubbles. People freak out when you blow spit bubbles. Orbit Bubblemint works well.
Xylitol gum helps keep the cavities away.
A gum to keep my teeth in place!
@brainmist Is it the gum that holds them or is it the bone that holds them and the gum is just the protective covering? Inquiring minds want to know!
@brainmist @tweezak The gum protects the bony jaw which provides the structural anchor. It’s a system; if either part fails, so does the system.
Dad gum
To put under desks at K-12 schools so the kids can find it and having some used gum to chew.
