@awk It did say “most like to do on your days off”, not what responsible adults do. What I actually do and what I like are different, and sometimes I can go weeks without doing what I like.
Wow. No one wants to talk about it? When younger and had a kids I worked an extra job. When kids grown I put a lot time into yard and house improvement. Now, it’s just me and a dog in an apartment. After a week of running a delivery route the last thing I want to do is go outside in Florida summer. The big cool down will be here in a couple of weeks and I’ll be spending time with grandkids.
I like to play board games. I spend all week (and sometime the weekends) glued to a computer screen for work. Last thing I need is to be on a computer playing games, too.
I like to “do something” on my day off. That really could be a lot of different things: take a day trip, go for a hike, lunch and a movie, visiting a museum, etc. My wife, on the other hand, loves to sleep-in until 3:00 in the afternoon. Doing that would drive me crazy and I would feel like I was “wasting” the day.
@DrWorm I can get with both sides of this one- sometimes I need the sleep- like this week, I have been running on 4-5 hours/night, and tomorrow, on my one day off [worked SSM, off T, work WTF], I’ll likely sleep til at least noon, but I also am a night owl, so getting up before 10:30-11:00 is anathema to me anyway.
If I have 2 days off in a row or more [like when I’m off next SSM] I’ll get up at 10:00 and it feel like I have forever to get stuff done… [until I get to 5 or 6 PM and only have about 25% done of what i had planned].
I’m retired, so technically all my days are days off. However I take classes Tuesday through Saturday, and I have a standing doggie play date every Sunday morning. So actually I have only Mondays where I don’t have to be up and some place in the morning. I usually spend that morning reading. Reading has always been my most relaxing activity. It’s not something you can really multitask, like watching TV, or playing a board game.
What I do on my days off is mostly catch up on chores and take care of the pets/wife with a little bit of hobby activities here and there when I can sneak it in.
What I LIKE to do is play video games and assemble models.
I would like to just simply hang out with a few close friends but what I actually do is either go to work or do chores.
Also, today is Monday, way to early to start looking toward the weekend.
I also am in the “like to do (fun) v get to do (chores)” but even when I do have true free time I am totally unprepared: I’d like to read a historic bio or go for a long walk or bike ride at a leisurely pace, but I don’t have the book and it’s too hot/cold/rainy/etc to go out, so I’m binge watching or reading Meh forum threads I missed. :p
I go for long walks, up to five miles, every weekend. Just walking around my neighborhood, or adjacent neighborhoods. There’s a flea market nearby on Saturdays and Sundays, and sometimes I’ll walk through, see what people are selling. If someone’s selling old records, I might pick up one if I see something I want and in good shape.
I put “catch up on chores” with the understanding that this includes things like sleeping and bathing.

My wife lets me sleep in before I catch up on chores, and then binge watch something with her
@kaighintze Can you explain this “sleep-in” thing to me? I’m not familiar with that phrase…
@tohar1 Probably a typo. Likely should read “slip in”.
/image bow chicka bow wow
@medz I’m not familiar with that term either.
Maybe you’re still a newlywed??
Hmmm…
@tohar1 “sleeping in” involves staying up 3 hours later than usual, and then staying in bed one hour later than usual for a net loss of 2 hours sleep
All my days are days off. So, whatever I want to do.
Go for a long run

I’m baffled.
Why wasn’t Go to the bar and continue studying to be a bar fly on the list?

It’s good exercise, too!
