My nightstand has a triple qi charger that I have not taken apart to disable the LEDs in yet. I don’t know why every manufacturer thinks a charger needs to glow, nor why every wife I have thinks a bedroom needs to be completely dark. But I do know whose side I get to take in that debate.

Wizards Unite does look pretty interesting, though. The RPG-like skill tree system is promising.

I have so many backup batteries, I’ve lost count. Most of them I’ve purchased from meh (several have been given to loved ones, many temporarily shared with colleagues; it’s nice to be able to bail out the boss and to be the go-to guy for yet one more thing ). Some of them are pretty cool, like the one built into a stand, which I sometimes take into a meeting since it nicely supports my iPad. I have the recently offered auto DC adapter with ionizer for my car, several charger bases. All the ones I carry around have builtin surge suppression (which seems to be standard these days?). Lots of backup cables.
The day-to-day bag usually has three or more batteries and as many lightning cables, along with one or two charger bases. A couple of these are in smaller sub-bags (one of which holds my iPad and another has my “almost the most minimal essentials”), so I can quickly pull out a set and go. My other main bag always has at least one of each as well. I always keep a few stowed away at work.
The backup battery and cable are almost as important as my wallet.
Ironically, I purchased a new phone about a month ago, and my battery is holding up well so far, so I rarely need the backup lately (I needed it greatly just prior to the recent upgrade, part of why I acquired so many), and generally don’t carry it to lunch or on other short excursions.
Moreover I try to use Qi as much as possible. All of those devices are from meh, including the pair of fancy ones with the nice BT speakers (one for the wife) that sit on our nightstands. I have a Qi disc at my desk at work, there’s one in the kitchen and two in the living room at home. The big bag has one too, but I cut back and took it out of the day-to-day.
But here’s a thing meh needs to offer (in addition to higher quality lightning cables; almost every one–of numerous–that I’ve purchased from meh has crapped out; on the other hand, actually, a Qi battery would be better):
Combined charger base and battery (so you only need the one power source but can cover both situations). BTW the first one I purchased didn’t work right, but they sent a replacement that’s been working great. I got mine cheap (and black, because the best power sources are) on Prime Day. When I’m bagless or otherwise going minimal, this is the battery I bring.
Really one of those two-in-ones with a builtin Qi pad would be ideal.

@Fuzzalini Awesome. Glad to help. Be sure that 1) a plugged in device charges from the AC when it’s plugged in and that 2) the battery itself charges via its AC plug. The dysfunctional one I first received would only charge via the micro port and any USB-connected device would always pull from the battery itself, even if the battery-charger was plugged in to AC power. They were happy to send a properly functional replacement.
@joelmw At least the lights (I’m assuming) were clear enough that you could figure out that there was something wrong. I wonder if it was just the AC plug that was bad, given your symptoms.

I have charger cables, charger ports, and battery packs all over my house, car, and workplace. My phone is still always dead, my cables are always broken, and my battery packs are also usually dead.
three basic charging cables. one long one in the living room plugged into the og brick that the phone came with (so i can use my phone on the couch comfortably), and two shorter ones - one in the bedroom and one in the car (plugs into stereo). no power banks.
i have an iphone SE and i only charge it once a day or every other if i forget. only use the car charger if i’m driving a long distance using gps. other than that the only thing that drains the battery is snapchat.
@lifftchi i’m in the same boat! before this i had the 4S for a long, long time and it served me well. i finally upgraded because the iOS was outdated and the phone had water damage and it was cheaper/more practical to get a newer model. now, the iOS is again becoming outdated on my SE and i don’t want to update because i think it will affect how it runs, but if i don’t update, i eventually won’t be able to use the apps i want to use, so on and so forth into the catch-22 that is apple and their short hardware shelf-life due to the short software shelf life.
i would also like a better camera, but otherwise i love my little phone. the size is right and it’s easy to use - i don’t ask for or need a lot when it comes to a smartphone which is why i went with the iphone in the first place way back when. also not looking forward to having to pay ridiculous amounts of money for a phone. i miss when i could just walk into verizon and ask which phones were available for free with my upgrade. sigh…

@zinimusprime How does that drawer work with the wiring to power the plugs? Stiff wire usually doesn’t like to flex and bend much.
@tightwad We ran the wire through a flexible metal sleeve and made sure we left just the right amount of slack. It’s a dream come true.
