@hchavers
You shower your beans to rehydrate them?
The bath, I get, a good long soak does wonders for their edibility, but a shower [i.e., rinsing them], while perhaps helpful in reducing dust and removing dreck and detritus, wouldn’t seem to be too ephemeral to affect their hydration status.
Practical evidence seems to support the same outcomes for human-beans.
@nobile
If I’m feeling somewhat crampy after exertional sweating [legs, arms, not abdominally], I drink water with a small amount of equal parts of salt and baking soda [like 1/4 tsp each in 12-16 oz. H2O].
This seems to both rebalance any NaCl deficit, and at the same time, counter any residual lactic acidosis remaining in my [overused old] muscles and has been very effective at keeping any actual muscle cramping from appearing.
This is not medical advice, just a personal anecdote.
YMMV.
@ircon96 yeah, even back when I was drinking liquid IV daily, my sodium levels were barely at the lowest acceptable end of the range. I started taking medication that doesn’t let me have things with acids, so I couldn’t take electrolyte mixes anymore, got the sodium pills prescribed instead. They’re more convenient and affordable than the electrolyte packets, so I stuck with those even after I stopped taking that other medicine
@nobile I come from a long line of salt addicts, although i don’t even add it to my food, i just like too many things like ramen that come pre-loaded with it. Sadly, I’m a middle-aged woman who eats like a frat boy.
bloodletting with leeches
@Mehlachi yes
@Mehlachi that’s your solution to everything
Iced tea or soda. Sugar free of course
I wanted a choice, E) All of the Above, but in the order that the presented, skipping D).
Hot bath or shower to rehydrate the dehydration. It works for rice and beans.

Stand in the rain.
Open my mouth.
Look up.
Remember to swallow occasionally.
@phendrick
That last bit seems to perhaps be the most important to remember.
@phendrick @PhysAssist Another vital thing to remember: avoid doing this near bird feeders &/or bird-filled trees. You’ll thank me later.
Not drink water :p
Take a sodium pill and drink water

@nobile @PhysAssist If only my sodium intake were low enough to warrant this method. <sigh>

I go for a run in the desert.
@OnionSoup
Just gotta to push the limits, don’t you?
@OnionSoup @PhyAssist I hate runs in the desert - cactus makes terrible toilet paper.
@macromeh that’s what the scorpions are for
@OnionSoup @PhysAssist He knows what’s up.
