@Cerridwyn@yakkoTDI Who said anything about “traditional” in the traditional sense? As C said above, my first next meal was donuts and coffee. So that’s when i “broke fast” on Sunday. And i AM always excited for donuts and coffee. Guess it’s the sugar high.
And, yes, i confess i am old. Wishing you get to enjoy that too. (Would be mean to not wish that for you.) But if you are currently fit, be sure to stay that way. if you get off plan, it’s VERY hard to get back that way, as i’m finding.
@Kyeh@Pavlov That they do, but i believe most of them just lie around snoozing and let one or two do the work. Not convinced it’s tasty rats that are making most of them fat.
Christmas punch: a bunch of fruits steeped in hard cider and spices with rum. Usually served warm in a mug with a spoon, but there no judgement in whichever way you consume it
I probably won’t be eating any of that as I don’t celebrate thanksgiving or Christmas.
I will, however, be running a double header turkey trot. This year it’s 2 5Ks but it used to be 5 miles and a 5k.
@phendrick, my life is so free of stress at the end of the year compared to everyone else. No pressure to waste money on stuff no one wants or needs and no trying to travel at the worst time of year. Instead, I see my friends and family throughout the year whenever I feel like it.
I am also running a 5k a week after the turkey trot, a half marathon in February, and a 15k in March.
@kittykat9180 Gotcha. For me, both Thanksgiving and Christmas bring back fond memories of family and friends no longer around. Also, i cherish the promise of peace and happiness, whether it will be delivered or not. And the music is still very meaningful to me. Furthermore, the end of year rat race will be there, whether you celebrate or not.
BUT, “No pressure to waste money on stuff no one wants or needs”; so why are you regularly on THIS site?
@phendrick, I don’t have to worry about the end of the year consumerism as I work from home and only go out on Sunday evening for groceries, so I can avoid all that.
Do you think I’m buying stuff every day on here? I make a purchase about 1 - 3 times a year. I like the polls and the sarcasm.
Breakfast. And lunch. And dinner. And occasionallt Tex-MexBaconLettuceAndTomato, which has a liberal schmear of guac added, to make it an LBGT. I plan to have one for lunch tomorrow, in fact. (Today’s will be pizza that somebody else is buying.)
@werehatrack TIL. LBGTs are edible. Personally, never cared for guac on sandwiches. But, like queso and salsa, indispensable around corn chips. And tolerable on salads and as an adornment on some soups, such as (hot) tomato. (Why did my mouth just start watering?)
@phendrick
There’s a town that host it as part of their Christmas celebrations. There’s a like 15-20 stores that participate and all the cookies are bakery made. You go to each one and get a cookie, it promotes shopping too.
Only time will tell
Food!
@yakkoTDI Exactly. Not having that between now and New Year’s would be boring.
@rockblossom @yakkoTDI
Then painful, then eventually lethal…

@rockblossom @yakkoTDI
That came up as they always do- randomly…
… and too late
All of it, though I like the birthday cake the most.
I like to eat it, not think about what it represents.
A gentleman doesn’t tell
@OnionSoup
My first thought was well
Corn bread casserole
Drinks!
Beggnog:
So good, they begg for more.
@PocketBrain Nothing to do with this?
@PocketBrain, I make a Slippery Slide Through a Muddy Chicken Coop every few years.
1 oz Irish cream
1 oz coffee liquor
1 oz vodka
Top off with eggnog
@kittykat9180 @PocketBrain
OMG… having had chickens I can definitely relate to that!
@PocketBrain
I just usually do eggnog and jack I’ll have to try that.
Truth be told, I usually use two shots of rum.
Sunday breakfasr
@phendrick I didn’t know anybody still did a traditional Sunday breakfasr. You must be old.
@phendrick @yakkoTDI not necessarily, because when they wrote this, that would be the next meal that they ate, whatever it was

If I didn’t want my chicken rotisseried then I shouldn’t have one as a pet.
@Pavlov Even chickens find there’s no such thing as a free lunch?
But what do i do with all these cats i’m feeding?
@Pavlov @phendrick Thank them for keeping the rodent population down around your property?
@Kyeh @Pavlov That they do, but i believe most of them just lie around snoozing and let one or two do the work. Not convinced it’s tasty rats that are making most of them fat.
@Pavlov @phendrick Maybe you’re feeding them too much.
My mom’s cooking.

Cranberry sauce

@kittykat9180 Humbug, to both paragraphs. imho.

@kittykat9180 Heh, i’ll try to be more sarcastic for you then, especially on the polls. Maybe tonight’s will ask about Christmas plans.

Thanksgiving eggrolls using all of the leftovers.
Just the festivities. I do a cookie walk and I’m thinking about hosting a cookie exchange and possibly going to Chicago to go their Christmas market.
@Star2236 “cookie walk”?
Guess i’ve lived a sheltered life and had to search. For others like me, https://everyday-reading.com/cookie-walk
Guess it’s not a local thing here.

I’m just happy to still have living friends I can physically be in proximity to. And we all still have most of our teeth.
But I suppose comestible wise… New Year’s pancakes at whatever diner is not full by the time we all wake up.
The day after Thanksgiving sandwich.
@jitc Hope you haven’t made it yet.
@jitc @phendrick Mine’s tuna salad, which has to be made from a freshly opened can of tuna.
@jitc @phendrick @werehatrack I’ve kinda weaned myself off the cans into the pouches. (Though price per ounce, nothing beats canned.)
Chocolate Truffle Bomb
@heartny Yum. That would be a good answer for this thread, too: https://meh.com/forum/topics/thanksgiving-whats-a-stage-stealing-side-side-dish-to-bring-on-the-big-day
@Kyeh Good point. I think I will double-post
