What are you handing out for Halloween?
6I don’t get really any trick or treaters (which makes me sad, I love seeing their costumes.) on the off chance they do come ill just empty one of the bags of candy I bought into their bag. Probably ones of the ones my boyfriend bought that I don’t like. I also have a bunch of Halloween socks, books, bugs, tattoos, stickers ect. I can hand out. I got it all from (one of) the liquidation places down the street. I was gonna do a trunk or treat with my sister and nephew but had to busy of a week.
To the person who has the Sea World stand, what do you have in it this year?

Disappointment
My costume

Live in middle of nowhere, so don’t get any trick or treaters. Shame for them, I’d be handing out $100 bills …
Maybe not, but since I don’t get any, I can say that.
@OnionSoup Same. I don’t even put up any outdoor decorations, because they wouldn’t get seen.
@OnionSoup Send me your address. I’ll come alleviate your disappointment four one or two of those $100 bills.
As expected no trick or treaters… which is fortunate because I forgot to pick something up just in case.
This year I went for Wendy’s Boo Books, play dough, stickers and candy. Kids will have a good mix to choose from!!
@tinamarie1974
Boo bucks, you’re awesome. I wanna come to your house.
POPSOCKETS! SPA KITS! POLLY POCKETS! AWESOME!
@Star2236 come on by!!!
Trick or Treat is 2 hours here. We get over a hundred each year, rain, sleet, sun, whatever. Not much happens in the first 20 minutes. Then it gets serious.
Chocolate and sugar. Beggars choice. Chocolate is mostly reecees, snickers, mars, mounds, whatever little fun size came in the bag. Sugar is always skittles–you are a monster if you do not offer them–sweet tarts, sprees, bottle caps, etc.
@KNmeh7
What’s with this 2 hour time limit for trick or treating now days and also starting at like 4 when it’s not even dark. Back in my day (when we walked up hill both ways lol I’m not that old) we didn’t have a time limit or start and stop times. We just went till we couldn’t go anymore of had enough. People really are staring to ruin it for everybody lol
@KNmeh7 @Star2236 I don’t remember a time limit either but since now I stay outside to keep the kids from having to go up and down the steps, I’m glad for it. Ours is 6-8PM and by 7:30 or 7:45 it’s usually quiet.
I get anywhere from 12-20 trick or treaters every year. I don’t think many on my street turn on their lights. I fix up little baggies of things I like in case I’m stuck with any stuff. This year it’s little bags of cheezy poofs, mini cookies, Reese’s pumpkins (cause Reese’s rules Halloween), gummy bears and tootsie pops. This year I put together 24 bags. Although, I don’t expect many since we just got frigid temperatures this week. In case I get more than that, I have my stash of movie snacks I can raid. Latecomers will be getting the movie box size of peanut M&M’s!
GITD rubber duckies! We’re nerdishly excited about it.
@Thumperchick
Rubber duckies!!! And they glow in the dark, man your cool.
@Star2236 our army charging in the sun:

@Thumperchick
Those are so cute, I love how their dressed up for Halloween too.
@Star2236 @Thumperchick
SO COOL!
@Thumperchick That’s pretty awe some!
No one owning up to the marijuana laced candies from urban legends then? Or the chocolate bars with razor blades in them?
@OnionSoup putting razor blades into the chocolate bars is extremely time consuming.
@natasha_natasha @OnionSoup All of the urban legends about halloween razor blades I’ve seen were for apples, a far more credible hoax - and so far, still just a hoax, going on 55 years at least.
@natasha_natasha @OnionSoup @werehatrack
Back in the early 90’s it was a real thing with with someone putting razor blades in candy in my area. I still remember that from the news. For years our parents SERIOUSLY went over our candy.
@natasha_natasha @OnionSoup @Star2236 @werehatrack
“Back in the day” we used to let kids (and their parents) bring their loot to the ER to get it x-rayed. Never found anything to my knowledge.
@chienfou @OnionSoup @Star2236 @werehatrack
Me to my coworker earlier: “Hey [Coworker’s name] do you think you could spot a razor blade if someone hid it in an apple at Halloween?”
Coworker: “What are you bringing to the Halloween potluck tomorrow?”
Me: “I haven’t decided. Probably something with apples.”
Coworker: [silence]
@chienfou @natasha_natasha @OnionSoup @Star2236 @werehatrack
(it’s not the one I was trying to find, but close enough)
@OnionSoup given your user name, also the occasional chocolate-dipped shallot vegetable?
@natasha_natasha as a kid I would be scared of the person who put time and effort into doing this.
As an adult, seeing someone tempering chocolate and baking their own bars (with jail escape tools) sounds impressive.
I’m living in a retirement community, though I’m far from retired myself. I don’t have to worry about having tons of leftover candy I shouldn’t eat but will anyway.
Kids choice, full size candy bars or Casery Phone Rings, have about 100 of each
@cbilyak That’s clever! Some kids will probably want those rings just for the novelty!
Although … full size bars, mmm.
@cbilyak @Kyeh
Gotta get rid of meh stuff somehow lol. Are phone rings not popular anymore? I never put that or a pop socket thing on my phone to begin with so I have no idea.
@cbilyak @Kyeh
@blaineg @cbilyak @Kyeh that’s my favorite Halloween comic. It reminds me of my grandma. The only trick or treaters she got were us grandkids so she gave out full size snickers and three musketeers cause they were papa’s favorite. Makes me think that’s why she lived to be 98.
@cbilyak ALL the Casery Rings went, score!!!
We get average 100 trick or treaters. This year, we have Oreo cookie 2 packs and Pokemon TCG Halloween packs.
Last year, we gave out Pokemon cards and Oreo 6 packs. That was the Oreo equivalent of a full size candy bar. The cards were still more popular.
@fait
I didn’t know Pokémon was still a thing, I’m old
I will let kids pick something from the trunk.
@yakkoTDI Where’d you get that dead hooker, son?
Dad jokes.
Fidget clickers, Slim Jims, and Banana bread cookies, of course… Only have about a dozen fidget spinners left from prior years
@caffeineguy
I guess you gotta use your meh stuff too
Slim Jim’s lol I can’t say I ever got that or banana bread cookies while trick or treating
Bought 18 bags of fun sized candy that we really like. Kids get two each. My pick because it would just take too long for them to choose.
Hoping for lots of kids, hoping for lots of left overs. It’s a win either way!
@callow What is that skeleton thing?
@lisagd it’s a skeleton sewing machine
@lisagd @Thumperchick
I thought that’s what it was, pretty cool. I was trying to find a small bag of milk duds and sugar babies but I didn’t see any at Kroger. I’ll have to stop at another store to look for them, I love those around this time of year.
@Thumperchick That’s what it looked like it might be, but its such a specifically seasonal thing, I wasn’t sure. Does it really sew?
@lisagd I’m pretty sure it doesn’t. But I’ve only stalked it online.
@lisagd @Thumperchick @callow
That’s the goofiest skeleton thing I’ve seen yet! It’s weird enough that they’re selling skeletons of animals that don’t have them.
@Kyeh @lisagd @Thumperchick It does not sew, it is sound activated. I have a bunch of unrealistic skeletons and love them. I don’t have the 12’ one.
@callow @lisagd @Thumperchick
That’s hilarious!
Cavity Seeds. Happy treats that become trick trips to the dentist kiddies!
@duodec Are you a dentist?
@blaineg No but I’ve often though of starting the Underemployed Dental Professional Benevolent Association…
I’ve got weeds are everywhere, so I get almost no visitors. Still like separating my candies into gift bags

(Yes, those are those are soft baked breakfast bars for the monsters who don’t want gummy bears, Snickers, or peanut butter cups)
Stroopwaffels and fidget spinners. You know where they came from, and yes, we still have a few left.
Backstopped with small (but not microsized) candy bars.
I’m also going to try the potato thing. SWMBO thought I bought the bag of baby red taters for her.
@blaineg We set a record. NO visitors, not a single one. I ate some Milky Ways, turned out the lights and went to bed.
@blaineg And your wife got to keep the taters!
My friend down the street is carrying on with their decades old tradition of fresh made donuts. I think he’s crazy (as does his wife) because he broke his leg and ankle in four places last week. But I hear #1 son is taking over his duties.
Disappointment
@carolqueen by disappointment, do you mean that you handed out TrackR pixels!

I knew I had to go into the office on Halloween so I decided to buy a bag of candy from Target (not cheap) and went to Dollar Tree to get a cute bucket and some treat bags. I divided up the candy, put them in the bags and filled the bucket. I tied the bucket outside this morning as I left for work. When I came home, the bucket didn’t look touched. Typically only a few kids usually show up, if any, so I figured I would bring the leftovers into work like I did last year. I noticed on my communities Facebook page that a number of people were posting Ring videos of a group of older kids who were going around the neighborhood dumping entire bowls of candy into their bags. Apparently these kids don’t even live here any longer. Sure enough, when I went out later, my bucket of candy was completely empty. Too bad they ruined it for the rest of the kids who were legitimately Trick or Treating. Guess I won’t be putting out any candy next year. What a waste of money. Should have filled the bucket with TrackR Pixels.
@heartny Around here people have posted on Nextdoor that the greedy creeps have even stolen their candy bowls.
Fidget spinners, fun putty, little rubber ducks, full size candy bars… Speaking of which i need @meh to sell more of that Fun Putty
@bootsmonday no
Had to work so brought in part of the 5# bag of ‘Mars Candy’ mini bars I had bought last week at WM. Gave a big tray to the guys at my PT office on the last day of my post-hip-replacement PT last Friday, brought some in to work Monday and Tuesday for the staff in the ER (my first week back since Aug surgery) and the few kids we saw. Have some left I am saving for this weekend when I will be working with a different group of folks.
Live at the ‘edge of town’ so never have gotten any T-or-T-ers at the house.
