@RiotDemon I am patching walls and painting. And getting it ready for other projects: new toilet, medicine cabinet, and tile repair. I don’t even want to think about refinishing the tub and shower yet - I don’t want to put new stuff in because I don’t know how long I will live here and the house isn’t worth that investment. Re-finishing it from almond to white is my best option
@mfladd all the cabinets in my house are almond. The master bath is the worst. Almond cabinet, biscuit toilet, beige shower tiles, white marbley floor tiles, and then the land lord painted the walls yellow.
I’m trying to buy my house. I’ve already got a cabinet sitting in the garage for me to rip out the ugly vanity in my master. I’ve already replaced the top and faucet because I wanted to gag at the pink laminate that was in there.
@mfladd And I’ve been suffering for months with a dribble instead of a shower because I’m afraid to try to disassemble my Chinese made faucet unit and haul the parts to a home improvement store to see if they can be replaced. I’m reasonably sure the faucets the problem as the water pressure in all other bathroom fixtures is fine. Also it’s almost impossible to change the water temperature. I salute your resourcefulness. I’m thinking about signing up for Planet Fitness and just using their showers,
@moondrake It’s funny you say that. I gave up my PF membership sometime ago. I may have to go back for the showers because painting the tub/shower is a 4 day drying time, not including all the prep - which I will notoriously drag out. That’s a lot of time sink bathing.

Trying to find good rates for a trip to visit relatives and a couple of old friends in Las Vegas. Yes, really, not a vacation though I plan to drop a few coins in the slots, probably at a store. Finally got days off in mid April, so I thought I’d get flights booked.
So far spent the afternoon seeing RCOB (red cloud of blood) in fury at dealing with the f*cking airlines and their price increments for choosing different return flights from the base 1AM red-eye, and charging for or disallowing carry on bags(!!!) and prices doubled or more since my last flight for a checked bag (which I would have to do). Damn those bastards. If I could get enough days off to drive I’d do it just to not support them.
@f00l I used to enjoy it. I seriously would drive instead if it was closer, but its 1800 miles… I just can’t take that many days off for the round trip. I just wish there was a good alternative.
Found out Amtrak stops in Las Vegas… New Mexico. But not Nevada. Guess its still too podunk to have train service.
@moondrake Just checked, all the applicable flights are more expensive than Spirit or AA out of O’Hare, and the commute into shitcago to get to Midway almost makes up the cost of luggage tickets, so no joy. I used to like Southwest; just wish they were at the closer airport.
@RiotDemon Yeah I have seen this channel before. Grownups playing with potentially dangerous toys having fun destroying things. Fun Entertaining. There is also a channel somewhere doing a similar thing with a press - that channel likes exploding items. Liked the cards better than rubber bands, paper and lacrosse ball. CO2 cartridge was fun too. Nice that the bike lock was a fail.
@f00l As a kid I had a cat who’d go out in snow over her head, leap into the air when we’d lob snowballs over her head… had a blast. As our front walk was on a hill too bad we didn’t think of trying this with her.
I threw a pork shoulder on the smoker and then fired up the yard implements to try to tame the weeds that have taken over since the rain started a few weeks ago. It’s supposed to rain again tomorrow so today was the only day for it.
I finished edging after dark and got the lawnmower stuck in the ditch so bad I had to pull it out with a truck. I’m going to hate to see what my yard looks like tomorrow, but at least it doesn’t have patches a foot high anymore.
And the pulled pork was outstanding over a baked potato with some Carolina bbq sauce on it. I smoked the fat cap that had little strips of meat I cut off the shoulder separately and it rendered down nicely to basically some cracklins for the pups, so they were excited too.
I’ve got a nasty cold, so I played video games almost all day. Mostly played Overwatch, @Targaryen how was the league? I’ve never gotten into watching it.
Baked cookies for an event on campus tomorrow (today) while watching the latest season of British bake off. Then the husband cooked burgers and pork chops on the grill since it was the first sunny weekend in two months. Omg they were good! !
This lovely Sunday morning I am sitting in my back yard swing reading and listening to the birds sing, the big wind chime hum melodiously and scratchy Mexican radio from the neighbours who never find nature sufficient. It’s 68, sunny, with a light breeze. It will be in the mid 70s this afternoon. I’ll break out my jewelry making stuff and sit on my screen porch to work on a piece I need to make for a charity auction.
It’s rainy and dreary today. Yesterday was nice. Today sucks. Just finished making a cake and brownies for the event at school. Watching the Simpsons while waiting for time to head back to church for lenten study. Whoooo i live an exciting life.
Today I woke up early and started a loaf of bread. I’ve made it many times before, and it always tastes great, but this time I really want to give it time to rise & proof properly. Going to take it to a friend’s house around 5pm, lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise.
My daughter and I spent all weekend marching around the city trying to sell Girl Scout cookies. She reached her goal, but so many people didn’t even bother answering their doors.
@guyfromhawthorn I was trying to get some rest after another 64 hour week and the darn doorbell kept getting rung (plus all the political calls; had to turn off the phone ringer).
Working on the @!#@! FUCKING bathroom. UGH!
@mfladd what are you doing now?

@mfladd fyi, if you are planning on selling, there is quite a few people that still like almond… well, at least here in Florida.
@RiotDemon almond…ugh. It’s so b.l.a.h.
I just wish I had the skillz to throw up shower tiles quickly w/o a learning curve…but I don’t.

Visiting my son, DIL, and 18-day old grandbaby.
@sligett welcome to the word grandkid sligett
Worked all day. Relaxing while dinner cooks now. Putting feet up, sipping a beverage and binge watching soon.
It’s sunny and 75* right now. I’m firing up the grill!
@ruouttaurmind 34° here with about 6 inches of snow from yesterday. Plow had it about 2 1/2 feet at the end of the driveway.
@speediedelivery NO thank you!

@duodec
Consider shipping your bags separately. Via FedEx or UPS or whatever.
I hate dealing with the airlines.
@f00l I used to enjoy it. I seriously would drive instead if it was closer, but its 1800 miles… I just can’t take that many days off for the round trip. I just wish there was a good alternative.

@duodec That’s why I only fly Southwest.
@moondrake Just checked, all the applicable flights are more expensive than Spirit or AA out of O’Hare, and the commute into shitcago to get to Midway almost makes up the cost of luggage tickets, so no joy. I used to like Southwest; just wish they were at the closer airport.
@duodec Living in the southwest no doubt makes them more accessible.

Here, everyone.
Have a worthwhile day.
The sled and Maru
@f00l I have shared this video with others too. It’s wonderful. Maru has great parents.

Saturday afternoon?!? It’s Sunday morning! Time flies whether you’re having fun or not…

I’m playing what’s that smell in the mud room. I’m pretty sure it’s not mud.
@sammydog01 eek!

White whole wheat: https://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/classic-100-whole-wheat-bread-recipe
While that’s been happening, I watched some Starcraft, did some laundry and shopped some eBay. Weekends rule.
@UncleVinny yum! I recently made a batch of crescent rolls from the King Arthur Flour website and they were delicious
I just woke up. It’s Sunday afternoon now.
@LordSalem
Excellent!
I also got up seriously late.
@f00l @LordSalem I got up at 3:30 to drive my husband and kid to the airport. I hate you two. I will probably hate you less after my upcoming nap.
@LordSalem @sammydog01
I reward you by waving my wands and making your nap extra-long and extra-undisturbed.
PS. Powerful sinus infection cohabiting with me. So I have an excuse.
My daughter and I spent all weekend marching around the city trying to sell Girl Scout cookies. She reached her goal, but so many people didn’t even bother answering their doors.

@duodec I’m glad I live in a “no exit” neighborhood. It’s rare that I get solicitors.
@RiotDemon Those are the neighborhoods we tried to hit up for sales because people couldn’t get away
I think I spent most of the day drooling in my lap. I medicated my allergies into compliance.
