I don’t go outside. There is an invisible menace out there terrorizing a nation. We must put an end to people not using their phone hands free while driving.
@andyw I had planned to retire (or partially retire) in June this year. Then came Covid19 and working from home in March. Working from home has been such a nice change of pace (most of the things I like about my job, with very few of the things that I dislike) that I have postponed my retirement for a while. Might as well keep those paychecks coming in while traveling and other recreation is limited anyway. And I have 8 extra hours not spent commuting every week for myself.
This poll seems biased against those of us who have gone to work every day, pandemic or otherwise, in that there is no option for “I fucking went to work anyway because I’m super important and necessary and shit”.
Never. This is Florida. We gots the 'Rona out there. Also a bunch of balls melting heat and ball eating gators. I didn’t buy a new A/C just to sit outside and get the 'Rona and the noms while sweating.
It is a huge to treat to have windows and doors looking out at my bird feeders while I work after years of never even knowing if the sun was shining outside the workroom. To actually bring expensive fabrics outside where it’s dirty and those same birds could shit on them is not an option.
We’re in a stretch of utterly vile 90±degree weather, so basically I’d rather chew off my own arm than spend time outdoors. Besides, I’m WFH through at least the end of the year, so I’ll have plenty of opportunity to work outdoors. Like maybe in October.
The cat won’t go outside, so why would I? Seriously, the cat refuses to go outside, and he’s an outdoor cat who used to only come inside to eat and occasionally sit in front of the TV and block half the picture. But I can’t say that I blame him. It’s hot. It’s humid. The insects are menacing. The snakes are probably getting cranky. The outdoors is best left to documentaries and paintings.
Why is there not a Never option?
I need my 5 screens to keep track of everything I am doing and there is no feasible way to relocate my entire workstation outside even if I wanted to in this heat.
I’ve never since the start of my WFH (mid March)?
I really wanted to check “too humid” and “too hot.” That should have been one answer.
@pooflady
what is this humidity you speak?
oh, that moisture thing
that when it happens, we go inside, turn on the ac and say, bring back the dry heat

working?
Never. Still working from work. I wish I could work from home.
Why go outside when there’s a perfectly good window?
Retired! Planned in 10/19 to be effective April 30, 2020, and I did!

@macromeh I’m glad it worked for you.
Never - too outdoors

@yakkoTDI
I prefer my computer to not spontaneously combust, so its inside with the AC and a couple fans.
My home is not a place of work.
Thankfully…
Never, because my computer set up is not easy to move, much less move outside.
I can live with the heat, but not the humidity. And the bugs. So many bugs…

I prefer to do work inside, on well lit spot with a comfy chair with a view of the outside.
I like my dungeon
one choice should be: No way in hell
or I like my dungeon thank you
or I’m a trog, I don’t go outside

Too humid, too hot, too sunny, too bug-ridden.
The only work I do out there is grilling. The computers are in a location next to the Wi-Fi, that we designated as “The Office”

That’s @OnionSoup’s fault.

Even if I had a pleasant outdoor area, I’m in a whole multi computer setup that doesn’t move well.
sadly i don’t have any of those things
Still in office, every day.
What is this “work” of which you speak?
Way too hot and humid in Florida. Plus threat of corona droplets imminent.
@bumblues Maryland’s too hot, humid and sunny as it is, I can’t imagine Florida…
Very early on in this mess, I did some studying for an upcoming certification from my porch, but since then, it’s been at my home office.
I go to work every day, wear a mask and gloves for 10 hours a day. This is why I don’t get an Irk, too tired or too slow.
