@rtjhnstn I’d hope so. Deck shoes (boat shoes) would be gross with socks on. Especially when they are wet deck shoes.
@kittykat9180 Deck/boat shoes have non slip soles (like Sperry Topsiders for example - I have several pairs of those in various states of disrepair) and are often made of a treated leather that can withstand being wet with salt water and still stay soft. The inside of them are finished really smoothly. Sometimes they are made of canvas but those don’t last as long since they are often wet.
More on where I’m going/what I’m doing than the shoes. I won’t take off socks to wear shoes (sandals are not shoes!), but I won’t go out of the way to put on socks if I’m just running to grab the mail.

@rtjhnstn Robe + Sandals w/Socks is the ideal “getting the mail while cold/sick/hungover” outfit. Should not be worn off of one’s own property.

I don’t wear socks with flip flops, high heels, flats, strappy sandals, etc.

I feel like this is another one of those things that feels better in Meh’s neck of the woods than in colder parts of the country.
I had a pair of Glenn socks and wore them once (to the doctor) and he told me a story about George Bush who loved fun socks.
Sadly, I lost one of the socks that night, here at home, in my house, I have no idea what happened to it. It’s been a couple of years now…
