My ass it ain’t battery related! I dunno know what they’re called but I like the largeish straight tube shaped ones that are about the size of a AA. I like to pretend I’m a robot eating a plate of batteries.
@aetris@djslack there are indeed gnocchi is often made with a combination of potato and flour, too, but it’s probably the easiest pasta to make gluten free.
@Pony You beat me to it, so I’ll add my second favorite…rotini.
Can’t believe I’m actually taking the time to post about noodles…Damn you Meh and your mind control
@RedHot You’re saying things like, “hey, buddy,” and, “hey, guy,” because now that you’re older, you’re discovering that someone who was once your buddy is now your guy.
And someone who you used to call guy is quickly becoming your friend.
@kittykat9180@stolicat Canned ravioli was like one of the very few things I would eat when I growing up. I preferred it straight out of the can—ew. Now the thought gags me.
@tinamarie1974 honestly, I was surprised at how good it is, especially if I take the time to get some of the water out of it. That, and since I stopped eating pasta I don’t feel like I’m going to explode.
depends on what i’m making. but for the classic “i’m in the mood for red sauce and meatballs” craving, definitely thin spaghetti.
i love all pasta but the additional ones i buy at the store include: penne, ziti (without lines), half size or short rigatoni, elbows, fettuccine (fresh only), israeli couscous, glass noodles, and rice noodles.
less commonly purchased: cavatappi, casarecce, campanelle, large shells (for stuffing), mafalde, tortellini (fresh only), telephone cord.
@djslack any kind you want. i had to look up the “official” name which i guess is long fusilli. but it’s colloquially called telephone cord or telephone wire.
@djslack yeah! thin spaghetti is still my go-to noodle but it’s fun once in awhile. the tough part with the bagged noodles though is it can be hard to find a pack where you don’t get too many broken ones. i hope to one day come across it in a box.
Angel hair
Any of them as long as they are cooked properly and on my plate!
@chienfou and, while you are at it, that you didn’t have to cook it?
@Kidsandliz !! BONUS !!
The one that has all that sauce on it.
them all!
Lasagna
My ass it ain’t battery related! I dunno know what they’re called but I like the largeish straight tube shaped ones that are about the size of a AA. I like to pretend I’m a robot eating a plate of batteries.
@nogoodwithnames My robot dog likes the sauce that comes with Lucas batteries.
@nogoodwithnames rigatoni
I like that pasta that you eat with sauce.
@SpyreFox Someone’s gonna get on here and say it’s gravy. I’m in camp sauce, but just want you to know it’s coming.
@djslack @SpyreFox @andyw did above. I always figure they are the authentic Italians.
@djslack @SpyreFox goes with both - sauce and/or gravy
Does tortellini count? Any stuffed pasta is fantastic, but tortellini has little pockets for sauce collection
One day I discovered radiatore. It was really good. But so is most pasta.
@djslack That’s my favorite also.
Rotini-The spirals hold more sauce (or gravy-the name depends on your location and/or origin.
@andyw that’s what makes radiatore so good as well. They’re like little sauce grabbing sponges.
Gnocchi! Mmm.
Lasagna second.
@00 I’d vote gnocchi if it were pasta. It’s delicious!
@djslack - Not to start a controversy or anything, but it does come up in lists of pasta…
@aetris well color me educated. I had always understood gnocchi to be potato dumplings that were pasta-adjacent.
@djslack - I’m no expert - I do see that there’s “gnocchi di patate” so maybe there’s potato AND wheat gnocchi?
@aetris @djslack there are indeed gnocchi is often made with a combination of potato and flour, too, but it’s probably the easiest pasta to make gluten free.
Shells or rotini?
But shells are just more curved orecchietti…
knock knock knock…
Penne…
knock knock knock…
Penne…

Penne…
@PocketBrain delete one round and it would be perfect (Sheldon knocked 3 times)
@PocketBrain
/giphy heh
Cavatappi
@katbyter seconded.
Penne arrabbiata: pasta with a spicy sauce
Pene arrabbiata: a very personal problem
The best pasta is fresh pasta.
Linguine noodles done al dente. Something about the flat thicker noodle brings out the flavor.
Fusilli (in america known as Rotini)
Gotta have lots of surface area to capture the sauce.
@thismyusername
/youtube fusilli Jerry
Farfalle.
@Pony You beat me to it, so I’ll add my second favorite…rotini.
Can’t believe I’m actually taking the time to post about noodles…Damn you Meh and your mind control
Cavatappi for eating, Gemelli for joint and blunt crutches.
Ones that you don’t store in the fridge next to the batteries.
Rice noodles.
@TheFLP I love rice noodles at the hibachi!
Also, Orzo.
Lasagna
Also, my god I didn’t realize y’all knew so many types of pasta
cous-cous (with peas and diced sweet onions)
@rtjhnstn I love using pearl cous-cous in place of noodles with pasta sauce.
I’m shocked at 1) how poorly spaghetti is doing in the poll and 2) somebody’s favorite pasta is orecchiette.
orecchiette. Because it’s what’s INside that counts.
fusili col buco which is hard to find except on line now.
How about some Kraft Dinner?
@sicc574 Kraft Dinnah.
@sicc574 maybe If I had $1,000,000
@RedHot You’re saying things like, “hey, buddy,” and, “hey, guy,” because now that you’re older, you’re discovering that someone who was once your buddy is now your guy.
And someone who you used to call guy is quickly becoming your friend.

Ravioli

And more…noodles with sauce/gravy rocks!
Dinosaur shaped pasta is cool in concept, but every time you cook them they all just fall apart.
@Zeusandhera well they are extinct
@tinamarie1974 Yes, from the meteoroid meatballs.
@Zeusandhera
/giphy I see what you did there
Spiralized zucchini!
@tartanknickers I eat them, because carbs. But really is it your favorite?
@tinamarie1974 honestly, I was surprised at how good it is, especially if I take the time to get some of the water out of it. That, and since I stopped eating pasta I don’t feel like I’m going to explode.
Fettuccine with sauce.
Or manicotti if it’s stuffed.
How did we get this far without these?
depends on what i’m making. but for the classic “i’m in the mood for red sauce and meatballs” craving, definitely thin spaghetti.
i love all pasta but the additional ones i buy at the store include: penne, ziti (without lines), half size or short rigatoni, elbows, fettuccine (fresh only), israeli couscous, glass noodles, and rice noodles.

@jerk_nugget what sauce goes best with telephone cord?
@djslack @jerk_nugget Or something a bit more modern yet still spaghettiesque.

@djslack
@djslack any kind you want. i had to look up the “official” name which i guess is long fusilli. but it’s colloquially called telephone cord or telephone wire.
@jerk_nugget oh wow! I didn’t know that was a thing, I’ll have to try it!
@djslack yeah! thin spaghetti is still my go-to noodle but it’s fun once in awhile. the tough part with the bagged noodles though is it can be hard to find a pack where you don’t get too many broken ones. i hope to one day come across it in a box.
@jerk_nugget mmmmm…glass noodles…
@kuoh wow - you have to work to achieve that level of incompetence!
Strozzapreti. Perfect size and density, and good enough to “strangle a priest”. Ah, Italia.
Another vote for lasagna especially the pre-cooked kind
