I will vote, but regardless of who wins, I will still have to scoop the cat box and deal with the car repairs, and despair of ever getting caught up on all the stuff that needs to be done.
@werehatrack Indeed the furry evil animals will remind you of what is important, and regardless of which channel you watch they will not care about what is on the screen unless it has birds or rodents,
« The cats! they’re eating the mice! they’re eating the birds! »
On Nextdoor there’ve been complaints about people’s yard signs getting stolen. I really don’t get the whole yard sign thing - I’ve never been swayed to vote one way or another by yard signs or any other public displays of affiliation. Letters to the editor, maybe, on obscure amendments and such, but major candidates, never.
@PooltoyWolf Yeah, sometimes I’d rather not know! One of the biggest whines on Nextdoor is how they don’t allow political discussions in the main feed. “Censorship! Restricting my freedom of speech!” Idiots. If they’re ever asking a favor and I know that they’ve spouted political rhetoric that I don’t agree with, then do they think I’m going to lend them that tool, or give them that item they’re looking for? Not a chance!
@Kyeh@PooltoyWolf That seems a bit petty. I have many friends and neighbors (and family ) with different political opinions than me - there is much more to people than just their politics.
@macromeh@PooltoyWolf Friends and people I know - even virtually, like here on Meh - that’s different. But then they’re not usually going on political rants and spouting ugly comments like the stuff that comes up on Nextdoor. Because almost always what people post there isn’t thoughtful discussions and intelligent arguments - it’s nasty putdowns and mindless cheerleading for their side. And I’m judgemental about the ones who share my views if they’re unnecessarily nasty about it too.
The local political stuff is allowed, but also restricted, and some people rage about their “freedom of speech” being denied, but it’s a privately owned site, so no, that isn’t true.
@rockblossom Eric Early is a Republican seeking election to the US Senate from California. If you don’t live in California, he’s not your problem. Yet.
@rockblossom It was Vote for Earl. The Y was an extra char but was too late to fix once logo was ordered, and Earl didn’t have a lot of rich donors to fix it. That’s why Earl is our guy!
@rockblossom@werehatrack RLY? did not know about RC RLY. My first though was SRSLY? Getting TRD of VWLS messing us up, and the entire thing about the « Y » is getting too TXC.
Woot, if you can’t make out the watermark.
@blaineg I like it.

@pmarin @werehatrack Vote FOR the furry evil animals!

@Kyeh In my experience, yard signs are infinitely more likely to cause animosity among neighbors than they are to change anyone’s mind.

@macromeh @PooltoyWolf
But - I admit I can also be petty sometimes!
@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf As are we all. I guess I was surprised because it seemed out of character.
@macromeh @PooltoyWolf Thanks - there’s just been a lot of crap this election and I’m SOOO over it!
Just might do that.
I keep seeing:
But I don’t know what office Early is running for!

SRSLY JST VT 4 RL!
@pmarin @rockblossom @werehatrack Wait. Isn’t that sign supposed to read: ()
/image vote early vote often
@Kidsandliz @pmarin @rockblossom @werehatrack Ah yes, VEVO!
I used to always tease: When I die, bury me in Chicago, that way, I can vote for the next 100 years!
“it’s not important who you vote for, just that you go vote.”
WRONG!
No!
