@j8048188@raccoon81 I agree. They really should offer a decent percent to VMP. I’d say at least 75% of total VMP members. After all we are guaranteed money, whether we buy something all month or not. Speaking for myself I really haven’t bought much at all since being a member. I’ve just been donating money.
I think there was a VMP hour, but it wasn’t labeled. I saw folks complaining that they didn’t know an item was VMP only until they went to add it to their cart.
@OldCatLady@tinamarie1974 Got my IRK at 12:30 am this morning half an hour after it started so I got a good nights sleep and could work today without the usual distractions while this insanity is going on.
@ShotgunX Be nice if VMP’s got a 10% discount on anything they bought during these mehrathons since now we don’t have our exclusive hour (and considering most of it is from morningsave anyway). They could also add a VMP only irk in the middle of the no longer VMP hour.
@ShotgunX@uscpsycho Well yes that, in the more recent past, is probably true for many of us. That speaks to a different problem though (aka what is being sold these days).
I wish @snapster would have been kind enough to let us know of any changes ahead of time. You know, to not make it look like a typical corporate rip off. One of those typical VMP emails a month or two ago would have been appreciated.
Maybe I imagined it, but an IRK came up shortly after 4 Eastern time, because I was waiting for it. Got one. I’m keeping my VMP because I’m convinced some day it’s going to be worth it. //warbling// When you wish upon a star…
I missed on the IRKS. Honestly Meh has kind of jumped the shark or maybe just gotten complacent with everything else they are doing. Meh branded shirts for $12-14 when they used to be $5, less “fun” in the videos and less team to customer interaction etc.
@tightwad Morningsave is handy to pick up something you missed on Meh when it was on sale (or you happened to like your Meh buy enough that you wanted to see if they had more).
@tightwad Of all of them, Mediocritee turned out to be the biggest disappointment. I guess it’s doing well enough to keep it going but I so rarely see a shirt I’m interested in. And when I do, the higher prices just turn me away from buying it.
@chienfou@shahnm And here I thought you bought batteries from meh to feed your fridge. Your battery supply must be looking really sparse at this point - and your fridge might even starve to death. That IS why you are here isn’t it?
/image batteries in fridge
@chienfou@Kidsandliz I’m not gonna lie - it was a large part of it. Back in those good ol’ days of yore, when Meh actually sold batteries. And I’m not talking about the newfangled “powerbank” gimmicky garbage that the kids are all using these days, I’m talking about plain old American (made in China) dry cell batteries. Sometimes, when I was feeling uppity, I’d even get the Alkaline kind, like the city-folk had. That was the Meh that I grew up with, back when I was a boy.
@tightwad The Morningsave/SideDeal stuff is all as-seen-on-TV garbage (literally) and then it gets offloaded on us in a mehrathon, or vice versa. Casemates is useless to me because I live in RI. Most Medocritee t-shirts are hideous, IMO.
Meh really does feel like it’s jumped the shark. It’s not a scrappy little company doing unconventional sales anymore and having fun with it - it’s a multi-faceted storefront selling shit you see in the checkout aisle of a Bed Bath & Beyond or Kohl’s. Every recent mehrathon I can remember has been filled with absolute garbage - brands like “urBeats” and “Pursonic” and “FineLife”. It’s super disappointing and feels like Meh has become the afterthought in the “checkout.org” family. I know that not every deal is going to be a Blendtec blender but I wish they’d raise the bar just a little bit. Even the fidget spinners and candy corn were more interesting than this - at least they were funny.
Most of the goodwill from the Kickstarter days has completely vanished for me. I’m wondering why I keep paying for VMP, especially since money is tight at the moment. As far as I’m concerned, they’re barely different from the monster Woot became - except Woot sells the occasional refurb iPad Pro.
@chienfou@harveydanger@Kidsandliz That’s what I’m talking about right there! You buy something expecting it to be eh. You get it and realize that it’s not quite going to get up and over that moderately low bar you had set for it. You shake your head and say to yourself “Meh”, and you head right back the next night to see what other disappointment is up for grabs. That was $5 per month well spent! The relentless pursuit of mediocrity (and the occasional achievement of said goal)…
@harveydanger@tightwad exactly. It’s just as bad Woot is now, except with mehdiocre products. At least the fridge filters Woot sells are genuine products and not knockoffs.
@MrMark yeah, I’m only hanging on until I break my Meh daily streak, then “bye”. There are so few things here that I have any interest in, and for those few things, I could probably find an equal (or better) price elsewhere, if I made any effort.
Barely any reason to stay a VMP now and just become a member the month you actually need to buy something.
@ELUNO It’s been a while since I ordered anything from MorningSave, but I believe the last time I did, they still offered the 10% VMP discount.
@ELUNO @phendrick
Exactly.
The VMP happy hour has been very lackadaisical recently. Why not let the other members in on it?
@j8048188 because IRKS (even though those have been very lackadaisical lately as well)
@raccoon81 yeah, the IRKs for VMP would be great.
@raccoon81 I guess I cursed myself. Couldn’t get an IRK.
@j8048188 @raccoon81 I agree. They really should offer a decent percent to VMP. I’d say at least 75% of total VMP members. After all we are guaranteed money, whether we buy something all month or not. Speaking for myself I really haven’t bought much at all since being a member. I’ve just been donating money.
BuT I aM A vMP!!!
@RiotDemon
It let me purchase the last 2 items despite my being a Member and not a VMP.
@RiotDemon I just checked both VMPs and Members can purchase. I bought a squishy thingy.
@FreePasta it was a joke. It’s not vmp hour anymore. It’s members.
@RiotDemon Perhaps you should not quit your day job and start a comedy act.
@Barney dang. I thought I had what it took.
@RiotDemon
That WOULD seem to explain it.
@FreePasta @RiotDemon I got the joke – you were mocking all the usual non-VMP complaining “members”.
@FreePasta @phendrick thank you.
@RiotDemon Please explain why I am maintaining my VMP status.
@rtjhnstn
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think there was a VMP hour, but it wasn’t labeled. I saw folks complaining that they didn’t know an item was VMP only until they went to add it to their cart.
@heartny I guess I slept through it?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@heartny I saw that about the clawz, but never saw a note, nor anyone else complain on other items.
@raccoon81 Probably because nobody ordered any of the other items. Lol
@heartny @raccoon81
I feel disrespected and not special anymore.
That IRKs the hell out of me.
@Felton10 Agree!!! Maybe it bothers me more than it should?!?!
@Felton10 @tinamarie1974 Well, there’s your Irk.
@OldCatLady @tinamarie1974 Got my IRK at 12:30 am this morning half an hour after it started so I got a good nights sleep and could work today without the usual distractions while this insanity is going on.
/giphy now there’s no point to existence anymore

LOL, even the VMP IRKs sell out before the page loads.
I miss the contest IRKs. At least I had a chance at those.
@brainmist That was the one and only time I
wongot an IRK (and after receiving that, I decided getting an IRK was not to be confused with “winning”)./giphy well this is bullshit

/giphy perks?

They could not more clearly be headed to a dynamite VMP 15 minutes.
@ELEM pop sockets!
Not to be whiny, but this kind of sucks. I hope we get some kind of replacement benefit.
@ShotgunX rumor is a new discount for vmp on casemates. (not really, but let’s start it, ok?)
@ShotgunX we don’t even get free socks anymore
@arbdef @ShotgunX They threw us in the trash and our feet are cold!
@ShotgunX
@ShotgunX Be nice if VMP’s got a 10% discount on anything they bought during these mehrathons since now we don’t have our exclusive hour (and considering most of it is from morningsave anyway). They could also add a VMP only irk in the middle of the no longer VMP hour.
@Kidsandliz @ShotgunX For 10% off I would probably buy 0% more items. So still practically zero.
@ShotgunX @uscpsycho Well yes that, in the more recent past, is probably true for many of us. That speaks to a different problem though (aka what is being sold these days).
I think all of the problems with VMP are because they let some guy named KYKAZAA be the GOAT.
@kykazaa
remember: when you point a finger at someone, the other 4 point back at you…
@chienfou aww maaaannnn
/giphy aww man

I wish @snapster would have been kind enough to let us know of any changes ahead of time. You know, to not make it look like a typical corporate rip off. One of those typical VMP emails a month or two ago would have been appreciated.
@ELUNO not even a heads-up for the meh off. All I saw was Dave’s comments in yesterday’s email.
@ELUNO @medz has there ever been a heads up besides some vague stuff in an email?
@ELUNO @RiotDemon you bet. Special email in advance the night before
@medz yeah I only found out about it at around 10am this morning.
@ELUNO @medz and I never got any email today. Pfffttt.
@ELUNO What is this “VMP email” you speak of? I don’t think I’ve ever received such a thing.
@uscpsycho it used to be one of the other benefits they have slowly and silently removed!
It would appear VMP is for suckers.
VMP has the disadvantage vs Members of not being able to do what we could do in the pre-grandfathered days…
Turn it on and off as needed. I think I wore that switch out.
The on/off feature is actually more important now that the deals are not as richly flowing as they were in the first couple years.
Yep, I’m a sucker, a VMP addict.
@RedOak
And you’re not alone in your addiction.
@f00l @RedOak Jane? Is that you?
@f00l yah, apparently not being labeled a shit pile by Meh is worth $60 per year.
@f00l @RedOak
actually, unless they toggle on/off every month, they will not really be saving $60. Only 0.12 a year.
@chienfou
If that reply was to me, the $60 simply refers to the cost of keeping VMP and avoiding the shit pile tag.
@chienfou @RedOak if you don’t want to be a pile of poop, they can take it off.
@chienfou @RiotDemon yep, I’m aware, contact Customer Service.
Maybe I imagined it, but an IRK came up shortly after 4 Eastern time, because I was waiting for it. Got one. I’m keeping my VMP because I’m convinced some day it’s going to be worth it. //warbling// When you wish upon a star…
@pooflady Intermittent reinforcement creates the behaviors hardest to extinguish… You’ve been had.
I missed on the IRKS. Honestly Meh has kind of jumped the shark or maybe just gotten complacent with everything else they are doing. Meh branded shirts for $12-14 when they used to be $5, less “fun” in the videos and less team to customer interaction etc.
Things I don’t really care about:
@tightwad Morningsave is handy to pick up something you missed on Meh when it was on sale (or you happened to like your Meh buy enough that you wanted to see if they had more).
@tightwad Of all of them, Mediocritee turned out to be the biggest disappointment. I guess it’s doing well enough to keep it going but I so rarely see a shirt I’m interested in. And when I do, the higher prices just turn me away from buying it.
@ryanbruce @tightwad
Dafuq?!?
@shahnm
made sense to me…
@chienfou I don’t buy things from Meh in order to like them. I buy things from Meh in order to be underwhelmed by them. It’s in the contract.
@shahnm @tightwad Sure. I bought an air purifier on Meh and it worked so well that I bought two more for my folks.
@chienfou @shahnm And here I thought you bought batteries from meh to feed your fridge. Your battery supply must be looking really sparse at this point - and your fridge might even starve to death. That IS why you are here isn’t it?

Now get off the lawn.
@chienfou @shahnm You need to use some of your remaining batteries to light the way so I can even find the way off your lawn. (grin)
@tightwad

I just wanted to cosign your post because I feel the same way.

@chienfou @Kidsandliz @shahnm FWIW, the last time they sold those Lucas batteries, I bought some, and a good 25% were leaking inside the packaging.
@harveydanger
There was an Ecobee4 this week. How quickly we forget when the bar gets raised and then brought back to where it was.
@chienfou @harveydanger @Kidsandliz That’s what I’m talking about right there! You buy something expecting it to be eh. You get it and realize that it’s not quite going to get up and over that moderately low bar you had set for it. @djslack That Ecobee was the old model, naturally.
Best part getting rid of VMP/mehmber is you can no longer justify buying the cheap shit because shipping is “free”.
@MrMark yeah, I’m only hanging on until I break my Meh daily streak, then “bye”. There are so few things here that I have any interest in, and for those few things, I could probably find an equal (or better) price elsewhere, if I made any effort.
@MrMark i ordered something today so I am just waiting until it ships so I don’t get charged for shipping
@ELUNO @MrMark
you mean like the Clawz on SideDeal today??
I ordered some for the grands (again) since yeah… shipping is ‘free’.
