@guybrush01 shoot I forgot to buy a pack of aioli the other day! Maybe i need one of these watches to set an an aoilert for next time. But for reals… I’m sad.
@bayportbob@phendrick@sammydog01 Back in June 2018 I joined Meh to buy a Martian watch. After a few days I noticed these weird emails showing up every day, that would bring me back to see other random things. After a few months of checking every week or so I realized that the round thing next to the buy button turned into a face if I clicked it! And after a few weeks of that I discovered the forum and realized that having an unbroken streak of face clicks was a thing…and ever since most of my family and friends have been hearing about the dumb stuff Meh was selling and rolling their eyes, not understanding the appeal of it all. I haven’t fully embraced it yet, for instance I haven’t ever tried to get an IRK, but this is my daily reminder not to take myself or life to seriously. The Martian watch has been worn once, by one of my kids on “wear a watch to school day.”
@algae1221@bayportbob@phendrick@sammydog01 I too joined Meh to get the Martian Notifier, whose bezel promptly fell off and was glued back on. It has since failed completely- won’t tell time OR hold a charge. Also got a Martian Voice with leather band, which DOES still work fine. But I forget about the voice part- my wife calls me in the car and it takes me several minutes to realize the tinny little sound of her voice is coming from my wrist. Dick Tracy, fer crissakes!
Reviews on Google Play of the app bring up an issue keeping the pairing going, which is what I also experienced years and years ago (November 2016, apparently!) with the Martian Notifier watch I also got here.
Strangely, I’m tempted anyway. After getting rid of that Martian Notifier, my daily driver watch has been a basic Casio that’s both dumb and indestructible; it’s good, but so might changing it up, and I could use a cheap step counter…
My smart watch can be pretty dumb. Maybe this dumber watch is more my style. I figure it would, since I never had problems with completely dumb watches.
I’m extremely disappointed. They sold this on the last Mehathon for $49 and I bought one. I haven’t received it yet…I love my Fitbit Versa and Fitbit Versa 2 but after one year of use the batteries barely hold a charge for 24 hrs. I’m not prepared to shell out another $200 for one year of service.
Found a review that says it only has the sleep tracker monitoring from 8pm - 9am so if your schedule has you sleeping at other times that part won’t work for you. It was one of the main things I was interested in but turns out it’s a deal breaker.
Most of the reviews that had specifics were mentioning drawbacks, misfeatures, and shortcomings. Overall, I’m going to figure that this is one I should steer safely around and past.
@craigthom have you bothered messing with the time display setting? I’m trying to do 12 hour mode as I’m not used to 8pm as 20:00. I can’t get the changes to stick.
@normstovall I haven’t changed that because I always set my clocks to 24 hours when I can.
I think I did have temperature flip back to C once, but I’m not sure I didn’t tap on something.
There are two 24 hour settings; the first is for heart rate monitoring and the second is for the clock (I had to check the manual to see what the first is).
This is a great device for the price!! I really like how it tracks my steps, I can connect it to my iPhone, and can record my heart rate during workouts. The only downside I could find is that I wish it had an “open goal” or a “weight training” option for your workout, because it’s easier to classify it for me. Otherwise though, great device and I like that you can change out the watch bands.
FWIW, the app for this seems to have killed my phone. Shortly after installing it, my phone software became unstable…frequent crashes across multiple apps, particularly when there was an incoming phone call (so maybe don’t turn on the call notification features). Uninstalling the app didn’t help. Did a factory reset and (without installing the app) everything’s fine. YMMV, I do have an older phone running Android 9.
Anybody know if this supports standard bluetooth profiles, and if there’s a way to get my data out without the app?

Watch out!
No
Hmm… needs more aioli. I mean, who wants to wear a watch that doesn’t count calories as squirts of mayo?
@guybrush01 shoot I forgot to buy a pack of aioli the other day! Maybe i need one of these watches to set an an aoilert for next time. But for reals… I’m sad.
@guybrush01 The BUY IT link is still active, as of this moment:
@commonhero Oops! the above link was meant for you.
Looks like an Apple Watch for $50. Nobody will realize that it is actually Crapple! Well maybe don’t get too close to people…
@Num1Zero $24 even. Lol
I prefer my dumb watch.
FWIW, the “most helpful” review on Walmart says:
If that’s not a ringing endorsement of a Meh product, I don’t know what is.
@phendrick Forbes liked the non plus model.

@sammydog01 Thanks, I’m tempted. (I can always put it away into the drawer later, with my Olio and Martian watches, also from Meh.)
@phendrick @sammydog01 the martian watches… I forgot about them till you just mentioned them… wow…!
@phendrick @sammydog01 Ah yeah, the olio. I actually kinda liked it overall at the time. No clue what happened to it.

ONE OF US!
@algae1221
Careful, or the little icon next to your name could grow horns some first of a month…

@algae1221 @bayportbob @MrNews @phendrick Here’s my favorite Dick Tracy device sold at Meh:
@algae1221 @bayportbob @MrNews @phendrick @sammydog01 Got one too!

Almost worth buying just for the jellyfish. I love that jellyfish.

Anyone know if it syncs with Apple Health?
i had one but according to the sleep monitor i only slept for about ten minutes every three days. returned it.
@Noddy93 How was it on tracking steps/distance?
@Noddy93 So what I’m hearing is that the watch is a perfect gift for meth heads?
Smart!
@robinlynna FWIW, the experience with the Versa here has been less than stellar, too.
@robinlynna @werehatrack If it’s still less than a year Fitbit should replace it for you; did you call their customer service?
Does anyone know if this thing has a GPS, or do you have to have your phone on you to track routes? Or will it upload later?
Can I upload some songs to it and transmit them to bluetooth headphones, or does it just offer control of my phone?
@ludwigtr It’d definitely say if it has GPS. This thing is just a shitty second screen for your phone.
@ludwigtr I read a random review last night and it listed no GPS as a con, so I can comfortably say it does not.
Doesn’t support Gadgetbridge, no other firmware support I can find and meanwhile my Pebble Time Steel keeps rocking out. It’s a no from me, dawg.
Very nice subtle use of the Back to the Future image in the background by the way.
Still not buying the watch though.
Knock it off, guys!
@MrSherpderp
I think this thing is a knockoff, actually.
Found a review that says it only has the sleep tracker monitoring from 8pm - 9am so if your schedule has you sleeping at other times that part won’t work for you. It was one of the main things I was interested in but turns out it’s a deal breaker.
Technically, Walmart is selling these for $37.99. So it’s only $13 to spend for the privilege of learning a soon-to- be unsupported Chinese knockoff that will tell the PRC everything you’re doing.

Fuck it.
Work on android and IOS?
@ffejnitram
For certain values of “works”, if the reviews are accurate, yes.

Got mine today. So far so good. I haven’t done much walking, but it’s showing my pulse.
It shows text messages from my iPhone and shows incoming calls. I can dismiss but not answer calls.
I gave the audio controls a quick test, and they work.
It has no GPS, but it does have a compass.
That Walmart listing is for a third party seller, by the way.
It’s got twelve watch faces to choose from. They can’t be customized. Some show more information than others.
I had no problem figuring it out without referring to the manual.
If it doesn’t die soon, I’m happy with the purchase.

@normstovall I set it to 12 hour yesterday, and it’s still that way.
However, I didn’t get any sleep data from last night. I pulled the data page down to, um, download the data from the phone, but I still didn’t get it.
