VEGAS Promoters WTF do they even do?
0Hello All. What do promoters do and how does that whole scene work and such? I am planning a trip to Las Vegas for about 20 guys (my best friend wants a 'Day Club' Cabana for his bachelor party).
I see that on http://www.draislv.com/ Drais Beach Club website they have a Cabana for 20 people with a $5500 spend minimum. It readily displays the price with the ability to book it through the site and what is done is done.
THEN I hear all this shenanigans from people that I know and internet resources that I need a promoter to do it, that there are better deals, that etc. etc. etc. Then one promoter tells me it is upwards of $20,000 another says $4,500 the website says $5,500. Some promoters make it free. I am so confused. Halp. If I can book on the website, with the prices, why would one need a promoter?
TL;DR: Planning trip to Vegas. Need cabana at day club. Do I need to use prompter or book direct. WTF is a promoter what do they do.
(I know a promoter promotes.. looking for actual real life use like how do I use a promoter pros/cons how do they work and the like)
** bonus points if anyone on meh happens to be an amazing Vegas person and knows meh status deals for Vegas beach/day clubs.

My friends and I aren't attractive enough to have any idea what a day club even is. We can't even get into a club when it's dark.
same. hence why I came to the citizens of meh for help. I thought, wait, my original mac has solitaire, my fridge has beer, i already pay rent... why would i leave my house?
Practical advice: If you're a problem gambler, call your casino host and ask his advice. If you're degenerate gambler, call your casino host and tell him to just make it happen.
Just how many Elvises do you need? More than a few, and you're probably going to have to compromise and take a few fat ones and a few skinny ones.
@editorkid Hold the elvis. I will just take the Peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwich.
Call Chris's offices at 702-518-2582. They'll explain the whole thing and maybe save you some money. If you use a club promoter, you're going to end up having a better time by far . . . and you may spend more in the end but you'll GET more - you need to find a club promoter that you mesh with . . . Promoters are NOT at all like casinos hosts, and they can't get you the same things, but a promoter is what you'll want for your party. Just don't let the promoter slam you into the club of their choice - keep control - if you want a specific experience at a specific venue be very upfront about that - then tell them you may be open to moving the party later (based on the promoter's recommendation). Use a reputable promoter RECOGNIZED by the venue - if you call the venue and they don't know that promoter or all they have is shit to say about them, do NOT use them. DO NOT book a promoter AFTER you land - set this up well beforehand. Any fast talking gold chain wearing fucktard can tell you they are a promoter. They may be, but they're more than likely not promoting anything legal. If you don't like Chris - use Facebook and shop around.
If you have an in with a casino host, you do not need the services of a promoter - whomever your host assigns to you will be sufficient to cater to any need you may have.
@Pavlov Holy shit. Welcome back!
@Pavlov Glad you are back! I hope your recovery is going well.
@Pavlov!!! Great to see you! Are you home yet? (Well, besides your home at meh)
@Pavlov Way to come back with a fuckin' bang! Glad to see ya!
Thanks, @tHumperchick and everyone - I'm having what has become a rare lucid night - usually by this time I'm well nodded off from the painkillers . . . I'm reading a lot tonight trying to get caught up, I should be back with more regularity over the next few weeks. They've moved me to a rehab hospital closer to home, they tell me I'm doing fine and I'll be back to "normal" (whatever the fuck that is) in a month or two as I get stronger. If I nod off and suddenly don't post until the following day, it isn't my fault - it is the meds.
@Pavlov great news, glad you are doing better.
@Pavlov Damn good to hear from you! It's a shame there's no good non-sedating painkillers, but they're still nice to have when you need them. Welcome back.
@Pavlov So glad to hear you're getting better. You were missed.
@Pavlov Glad to see you are back- excellent thread choice!
@Pavlov don't blame @medz. they're not the goat!
@Pavlov BEASTLY successful answer. Thank you.
@connorbush No problem. Have fun!
Penn Jillette says Vegas.com has all the best deals, but they pay him to do so.

I am still confused on what a promoter does. Is this some fancy name for a tour guide, or wedding planner, or concierge? I feel so backwoods that I would have no idea when to call the Fabulous Chris.
@Pamtha I'll try interpreting what @Pavlov said for you- I'm sure if I get it wrong, he'll correct it. It sounds like a Vegas promoter (a good one anyway), is a lot like a tour manager- they setup things for you to do, arrange tables/rooms at the places you want to go, take care of your special requests if you have any, and let you benefit from their experience and contacts- so you can get better stuff, go into more exclusive places, or have a higher-class experience than the general public. It sounds like a good promoter will give you a far better trip than you could normally plan on your own, while a bad promoter is just out to make referral money, and will book you into wherever is giving them the best cut, regardless of if the place is worth the money or not.
@dashcloud @Pamtha Yes - think of a promoter as a limited casino host that only works with the club. Some work exclusively with one club and they have more power within that one club, where some work with multiple / all clubs and they may have lesser abilities within each club than an exclusive host but they are going to have a much, much bigger book from which to draw on and can pair you with other people of similar tastes, etc and you have a better time in the end. Most exclusive promoters retain relationships with "lesser" promoters to gain access and perks at other venues. Some exclusive promoters can move you from club to club on reciprocal agreements or move you to clubs owned by the same conglomerate.
Money is (generally) the only God they pray to in Vegas - the promoter is PAID by the club (which is 9 times out of 10 owned by a casino) to reel you in and keep you spending and partying at that venue. Occasionally, after making contact with a good promoter, if you gamble and you've spent $25k or up in a club, they're going to push you onto a casino host and you're in comp city - but you better give them action or you'll be blackballed. Any good, reputable promoter should be able to negotiate what you want at the club of your choice and you shouldn't pay for the extras at the venue - you just need to drop serious coin on bottle service, etc. If you want or need girls or candy they'll either hook you up or know who to call. The promoter is paid by the venue, as I said. Any promoter that asks you for money is either 1) asking upfront because they are not a true promoter or 2) you didn't spend enough at the party and the promoter lost face with the venue and you need to make up for it either by spending more or paying a fee (which that fee the promoter will most likely pass right on to the house [the venue you are at] to allow the promoter to keep his good standing with the venue). There are five types of visitors to Vegas - and each has a "promoter". There are gamblers - they have the casino hosts. There are clubbers - they have promoters. There are show junkies and food junkies and they have the concierge. And then there are those that like to enjoy activities that are illegal in Clark county - and they have most anyone with a good hook-up. Families don't frequent Vegas like they did a decade ago.
I'm off to take a nap.
It sounds like they're very good at getting people to pay a lot for a "beach party" in the middle of the desert.
Yikes - this is overwhelming. Obviously not my demographic, but now I know enough not to get snookered. Thanks for the education!!
Maybe I can shed some light on this…
Vegas Nightclub Promoters - these guys (and girls) work directly for a particular Nightclub. You will see plenty of them on the strip dressed in shirts and hats with Light, Omnia, Drais, XS etc. on them. At night, they may be wearing suits. Their job is to invite people into their club with the contingency of arriving before a specific time (for example: girls will be free until 12am at a certain club). The club wants people to arrive early and spend money on drinks so the club pays the promoters directly based on how many people show up before that specified time
A lot of groups get very frustrated when they arrive at a club at 1:30am and have to pay to get in when their promoter told them to arrive before midnight.
Not all promoters are created equally - some have been around longer than others, with more experience and better organization skills, but all of them have the same information about their club - all you have to do is follow directions. Vegas has some of the largest and busiest nightclubs in the world with big acts such as Calvin Harris, Tiesto, Zedd, Chris Brown, The Weeknd, and many more. can you really complain about paying $20/$30 to get in if you show up late??
Vegas Nightclub Hosts - these are the people you use to book tables, daybeds, cabanas etc. In this case it is ok to shop around a bit. Some hosts will be able to seat 10 people at a table for 8 without raising your minimum spend. This is one of your advantages in using a Host instead of just walking up to the ropes of the club and asking for a table. Also, understand that if your table minimum is $2000, your table is not going to be next to Mayweather’s $35,000 table, it will much more likely be farther back.
Arriving earlier rather than later for your table can also score you a better location overall. Dont be afraid to ask to switch locations while a bunch of tables are still open
Lastly, using the same promoter or host over and over every time you plan a vegas trip will help you out A LOT!! Loyal groups always get special treatment from their promoters!
