Vacation suggestion - Billund, Denmark

Visited Miniland in 1969 (maybe '70?) when traveling with my grandparents to Netherlands, Denmark & Norway; I was in 1st grade.
Was one of the highlights of the trip for me - I got my first LEGO set: Ambulance 338

- @Kyeh My grandfather emigrated from Norway in 1923 at age 18; he did not return to visit until he retired from Nabisco in Chicago at age 65.
  I have a handful a vivid memories:
  - visiting the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam & being amazed at Rembrandt’s paintings
  - Miniland in Denmark
  - being seasick on the ferry to Norway
  - visiting my great-uncle in Oslo. We did an ‘art project’ together and he gave me a big whale’s tooth as a gift
  - breakfasts on the homestead/farm & riding a motorcycle with my oldest Norwegian cousin
  - fresh ripe strawberries at a roadside stand on a trip to the ‘mountains’ (past Lillehammer)
  - staying up to experience the midnight sun
  - accidentally shooting my little brother in the face with a toy dart gun (the kind with the suction cup projectile). My Grandma was so mad! No more toy guns for me

- @compunaut How cool! (Except for the seasickness and the dart gun mishap.) I spent several months in Japan with my mother at about that same age. What I remember seems much more vivid than my travel memories from later on.

It’s on my bucket list for sure. That said, my folks live pretty near the US Legoland and I’ve never bothered to go there.

  I’d prefer the Danish one because I’ve never been to Scandinavia.
