@ruouttaurmind Tempting deal. $20 on amazon. After looking at reviews, on both sites, my biggest concern is adding ice and cleaning it (w/o a bottle brush) - that neck/opening is quite small. The other thing that got mentioned is that this bottles exterior scratches very easily. Mine would probably look like shit after a week of use.
I think I will leave this one to the soccer moms.
Phew…I spend too much money on deals posted here already
@mfladd@ruouttaurmind I’m a fan of a weathered look on some things sometimes. My thermos coffee mug is a great example of that. While I admit that it looks better on some things than others, I think drink containers can benefit from a bit of character setting them apart from the crowd every once in a while.
@ruouttaurmind@sammydog01 Yeah, being mostly anti-cool it’s a hard pass. These also don’t hold a lot of water. I am having to deal with the whole cool product factor right now with my daughter. It irks me, but I get it with her age.
I have caved to a couple a presents, such as a Simply Southern t-shirt (ugly), and Adidas running pants (when the hell did Adidas leave the 2nd rate category?). But then she will often have to listen to fatherly speeches about not following sheep, and independent thought. Girls!
My son could care less what is cool, and wears whatever he likes.
It’s interesting how they evolve and grow.
Coming to Alabama, Florida, and other lesser (non-Texas) places soon.
Clean (spotless) restrooms continuously monitored by attendants
And they have enough restroom stalls. Spacious, with walls, not positions.
Up to 120 had pumps per location (so far)
Decent to good food (compared to service station food)
Great coffee by service station standards
Their own decent brisket
Their own excellent jerky
Something like 20 flavors of their own fudge
High wages and wonderful benefits.
Really busy and still fun
Each location is a bit different from all the others
Far bigger than your average suburban grocery store. Almost as big as some Walmart supercenters Legendary. So much fun!
@f00l@mfladd@ruouttaurmind I’m not ashamed to admit that I got the full buc-ees rtic lineup. Mostly because the small one actually fits in my tiny cupholders, and because sometimes you just need 20 ounces of coffee, but sometimes you just need more.
The Buc-ee’s near Temple, Tx gets overwhelmed. It’s too small for the very heavy I35 traffic, and it seems that 2/3 of the passenger vehicles on that highway wanna stop there. (Exacerbated by road construction around Temple).
I won’t exit to that location anymore during known busy times. It just takes too long to get a pump. And even the huge restrooms can have lines then.
Buc-ee’s is planning to alleviate this by opening more I35 locations. I guess they have expanded the Temple store to the capacity of the location.
Bucc-ee’s allows no 18 wheelers on site. It would complicate the already fairly busy parking area and perhaps change the highly “family friendly” feeling.
Right now a Buc-ee’s visit is special delight for children. They do “tune” the stores to kide to a degree.
They started as normal convenience stores with excellent restrooms and cheap good ice cream. There are plenty of suburban locations with, say, 10 pumps or so, and a normal gas station atmosphere, with some extra outdoor sporting equipment related to the area nearby
(On the coast, fishing and crabbing; near rivers, tubing, and etc).
And then they got the idea of the larger stores. Often an hour or so outside a major city. The first and/or last stop on a trip. The kids beg and pester to go there. So do the adults.
Here is the one on I10 in Baytown, TX, east of Houston, on the way to NO.
@f00l I think that is the one you directed me to on my way from her to MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston). Is this one off of 10 between Louisiana and Houston? I saw mostly rubbernecking and laugh at it stuff, a mountain of junk food - huge mountain - but a couple of interesting things. I didn’t try their ice cream as I had no money to eat out, but perhaps another year.
I think the early small stores sold soft-serve ice cream, but I’ve never seen that offered in any of the stores I’ve been in. So maybe they gave up producing their own ice cream and went in other directions. I don’t think I’ve cream is a “Buc-ee’s thing” at the moment.
You’re right about 1/3 if the big location floorspace being kitsch. But it’s the kind of kitsch that’s fun to look at.
They sell one brand of flip-flops that has beer-bottle openers on the bottom of the soles. I love the idea of those.
People just like to stop there, get gas and something to eat or drink, and walk around. You can see people waiting for pumps at Buc-ee’s sometimes (esp at the too-small Temple location), while nearby service stations are empty. People just like the atmosphere (and cleanliness) of Buc-ee’s.
@ruouttaurmind Thank you god I am no longer a soccer mom with a kid on a traveling team, but when I lived in northern Idaho we generally didn’t need anything cool and we stayed warm shoveling snow off the soccer fields. I also looked decidedly uncool sitting in my folding chair with 2 golf sized umbrellas - one over my legs and one over my head while all the cool moms were standing in the sleet or rain and were clearly secretly envious. I noticed that before the end of the first season we were there there were many more moms who copied my approach. When I lived in southern Oklahoma those same umbrellas were needed to create shade.
FWIW, 75 cents could buy some good crap from Amazon Warehouse. A ceiling fan light kit, a slave cylinder for a Toyota MR2, a 5" swivel caster, a patio door roller, and 4 door handles to a Toyota Corolla. Not each, but all.
@therealjrn I once ordered a monkey dust puppet from Woot and they put it in a big box and stuffed it with airbags to make sure it wasn’t damaged in transit. I think their shipping people take their jobs too seriously.
I can’t remember who mentioned Tillys before (I remember I said I had never heard of them). But they are having a 50% off sale - be prepared to search for available sizes and stuff.
But I was able to snag 2 pairs of O’Neill swimsuits and a pair of Rip Curl sandals at a great price. https://www.tillys.com/sale/
And before anyone accuses me of buying “cool kid” stuff. I buy these for quality, not coolness. I recently picked up a pair of Hurley swim shorts at Marshalls, and thought - OMG, what I have been missing? These are wonderful!
But I am kinda taking a chance on the Rip Curl flip flops. But how bad can they be?
@ruouttaurmind I had a feeling, but didn’t want to be wrong. Their checkout system sucks. It was wonky letting me add things to cart that weren’t available, and then showing different items in my cart from one page to another - eventually it all went thru. The prices on what I found were very good. It was 50% of items that were already marked down previously.
I am never going to pay $59 for a swimsuit, but $20 for quality - yeah, I can do that.
Bill the Damn Hippie keeps the party going with an offer on French thyme with a 5 buck purchase this weekend. OoLaLa. Linky
He says your most economically strategic way to play this weekend’s offers is to purchase one Teachers Gift/Embrace Hope combo at $5.95, and one each of the $2 Pico Fruta and Powdered Ginger. This will give you $9.95, which they are good with letting you cover the combined $10 spending for the Arizona Dreaming and French Thyme. Once you enter codes for those two, this will bring you to a $41.36 value for just $9.95.
@therealjrn Ok, I figured out what was blocking your Penzy pics. It doesn’t affect any other pics, just your penzy ones. It was my Ghostery extension (which is a little weird, I thought it might be ad-blocker). Added meh as trusted site and your pics were back.
Bill the Damn Hippie wants to remind us that the “Teachers Care Gift Box” is just $5.95 through Sunday, September 9th. It comes with a booklet of inspirational stories, a nice hope pin AND a teach pin, a bumper sticker to fix that dent, some decent paprika, and one of my favorites, Forward! No-Salt Seasoning. Linky
Bill’s feeling a little jammed up, so buy his shit and vote. Deal is good online and in his capitalistic stores.
@sammydog01 I use it on a lot of things. Since my congestive heart failure (sounds worse than it is) I avoid salt big time. I like it on eggs, chicken, beef stir fry, oven baked tater wedges, on and on. If I ate more vegetables, I would use it there too. It’s good stuff, Maynard.
Most stores around me have it for $80-$83, with a couple in town offering the discounted price. I also checked a few other zip codes around the country, and have confirmed this is not just a deal local to my city, though it is YMMV.
These are the “ProLink” platforms which allow you to link together two or more platforms for a secure, uninterrupted support surface.
I just ordered the last four in my local store because… FIIK? I’m sure in a few months I’ll be able to sell them at a yard sale or Craig’s List for $30-$40 ea.
@ruouttaurmind ordered the last one at one store in town for $19.96, we’ll see if it’s in stock when they open tomorrow. The other two have more than one but price is $40.
I was just at this store yesterday and didn’t see it, but I saw two cases of the lighter duty ones at half price for $25. I don’t think they lock together.
They had a metric ton of stuff on clearance in store, FYI. The whole seasonal front section was just islands of random stuff on sale. I bought a huge 250pc set of every security bit and specialty screwdriver bit imaginable for $20 yesterday.
@djslack I received my “order is ready” notification after I already settled in at home tonight, so I’ll stop in on the way to the office tomorrow to pick up my 4. I’ll check out their other clearance while I’m there.
Since you’ve actually handled this thing… would you think I’ll be able to fit four of these in a mid size sedan? (Impala; 4-door, sizable trunk) Or should I plan on taking the truck tomorrow? I’m hoping between the trunk and back seat I’ll be able to fit all of them in the car.
@ruouttaurmind I really just kind of glanced at them but I think they have a bit of packaging around them that adds some bulk. I’d imagine at least without the packaging you could get 4 in an empty Impala but the truck would be easier. Without packaging they seemed to fold pretty flat.
I know I’m planning on picking up one in a compact car.
@ruouttaurmind yeah, I want the 375lb version and not the 250lb version or I’d have jumped on it when I saw the others in person. I’m keeping an eye on brickseek for the other store to drop the price, maybe I’ll get lucky.
I just unloaded my platforms into the garage and took my first opportunity to check them out. First impression? Might be the best $20 purchase I’ve made in years. Super sturdy. A bit taller and just a hair wider than I imagined (a good thing) and the linking feature is terrific. I give it 4.5 stars (- .5 star because they didn’t unload themselves into the garage).
If there are any left in stores near you at the $20 price… maybe even worth a 45 min. drive to pick up a couple.
Oh, and PS: my Impala never ceases to impress me. 27mpg city, 34 hwy, spacious seating and leg room for four husky adults (6 on short trips), V6 power and a trunk I can live in if things go sideways.
@ruouttaurmind They’re mostly full price here. Two stores have them for $40 but I don’t need them really. I’ve been hiring out the painting inside my units but I’m still super jealous of your $20 find!
@ruouttaurmind OTQ: Don’t you play Skyrim: The Elder Scrolls? Any good? I am looking for something new to play with. Gamestop has Elder Scrolls V Special Edition for $19.99 (new), which I am finding is a pretty good price. Thoughts?
@mfladd Nah, I messed with Elder Scrolls Online (via Xbox Gamepass). I wasn’t impressed with that one much. My exes son was a huge fan of Skyrim and watching him play, it did look loads better than Online, and one of the big reasons I wanted PSVR setup. Skyrim VR is supposed to be spectacular. Giant map and awesome, lush environment.
@mfladd R U into platformers at all? The first game I purchased when I inherited this Xbox was Rise of the Tomb Raider. I was a huge Tomb Raider player on the original PS all those years ago, so I thought I’d give this one a shot. Not bad.
I also have Far Cry 4, but have only installed it, no play yet. And I still have a sealed copy of COD WWII I received as a holiday gift this year. I know I’m not going to do well, and I’ve been ignoring the game, putting off the inevitable disappointment.
Kinda wanna try PUBG, and I think now it’s down to about $15 if you catch a sale.
@RiotDemon@ruouttaurmind Ok, I bought Skyrim and am downloading it now. Went into a gamestop where I expected no people, and there was a frickin long line. I bought the last copy.
What is up with the $2 warranty there? I usually don’t take shit like that, but people in front of me were. Since the game was only $20 bucks I said ok, but do people really need it? @RiotDemon I will look to your expertise with helping me in this game.
@mfladd my follower is a male dark elf. I think I might ask him to marry my character.
FYI… when you meet a follower, they are whatever level you are. So if you meet them when you are a level 10 they will never get higher than a level 10. So don’t get too too attached to a follower unless you pick them up when you’ve been playing for a long time. You’ll meet Lydia soon enough. You’ll want to murder her soon. She’s a cunt.
The newest edition of the Kindle Oasis the waterproof version 8 GB Wi-Fi is on the Amazon treasure truck today you might be able to get one for 30% off that’s about $175 plus tax
If you want one then you meet need to make a reservation on the treasure truck which means open Amazon on web browser or open the Amazon app and enter treasure truck in the search box and then the offer will come up and you have to make a reservation and then go pick one up so it has to be at a location convenient to you these treasure trucks move around in the big Metro areas do you just have to see where is yours is going to be
@f00l Do I want one? I have used a kindle keyboard and a paperwhite a few years back. I have an older fire that I don’t like for reading. I am currently using the app on a full size ipad that I do like. Smaller and lighter would be a good thing.
Edit to add - I can’t do this deal but for future reference.
Love that this uses D-cells. It’s basically a Maglite clone. Aluminum construction, looks pretty sturdy, switch feels solid. My local store has 22 in stock for $9.24. If I didn’t just buy two Maglite 3 D-cell lights I’d be in for a couple. I still have about $80 in Lowes gift cards burning a hole in my pocket.
They had several other flashlights on clearance as well.
@ruouttaurmind I keep little LED flashlights hanging on the back doorknobs in the bedrooms and I too, keep a flashlight on the fridge. My Maglite was in the garage in case I needed to beat the shit out of my car.
@ruouttaurmind Balls. Lowes called when I was in my meeting and said their store is out but they are going to provision me at the Bixby, OK store…she faltered a little when she said they were out. I suspect shenanigans staff bought them all up.
@ruouttaurmind The Bixby Lowes is only like a mile from the Bixby Costco, so I stocked up on water, paper towels (lovelovelove Kirkland paper towels) and some frozen stuff for when I don’t want to cook.
@ruouttaurmind Sure thing. If you want to contact them and check, I’ll do what I can for you. It’s the St. David’s store in PA. A little pricier than the GoPro, but I hope I’ve proven to be trustworthy.
@cinoclav I appreciate your effort, and of course absolutely trust. Unfortunately this Lowe’s clearance sale has been brutalizing my budget! Though I guess I feel better about spending money on stuff the house needs than I do about buying frivolous things like drones. I guess.
@RiotDemon I haven’t checked the finance rags, but I’m guessing they’re positioning for some big change. Merger, takeover, liquidation. Seasonal clearance is one thing… this clearance sale has been much more dramatic than that.
@RiotDemon@ruouttaurmind I bought some ceramic pots the other day and the cashier was telling me they had just put over 1000 items on clearance. Lots of weird stuff (which is the most fun thing about looking at clearance stuff) but some really good deals, too. You just have to take the time to look.
I did end up scoring the work platforms by the way. Watched the other store near me go from 3 to 1 on hand, so I went and checked after work. They actually had 2, once I found them. It wasn’t $20 each but I do actually have a need for them so I’m glad I found them.
Also, they barely fit in my car - the only place for them was in the passenger seat and floorboard, and it was a tight fit.
5 burners, 6.4 cu.ft. convection oven, steam cleaning feature… all the bells and whistles. My old range is original to the house (over 35 yrs) and has been on it’s last legs for years. Especially since Mom killed two burners 3 years ago. I’ve repaired it, patched it, rigged it and have been nursing it along, but I’ve really been wanting to replace it. Well, I guess tonight is the night. I dug out my Chase Freedom VISA (for another 3% cash back at Lowe’s) and paid a total of $244 incl. tax.
My only ragret is the color. It’s stainless steel, and my newish fridge and microwave are white. But the trade off is acceptable for the price/features.
@ruouttaurmind Whew! that was a close one! 9 Lowes stores in NE Oklahoma, 9 stores with 0 stock and the $809 price. One of my rentals that my loving daughter is currently occupying has a similar range with a convection oven but the right half of the cooktop is dead. I offered to get her a new range, but she didn’t want to lose the convection oven. This would have been perfect, so cheap, cheap cheap. THANKS LOWES!
@therealjrn If it’s an analog controlled cooktop, I would suspect a wiring issue. Possibly a power feed jumper has a bad crimped connection, or/and has burned through. Or a relay if it’s so equipped. If it’s a digital cooktop controller… Prolly means the selector or controller circuit board is failed.
@mfladd Maybe…it depends. Convection is forced hot air so baked goods seem to rise and brown better. I’ve found convection cooking to be a little faster as well. When I get a “regular” recipe, I’ll usually back off the temp by at least 25 degrees, if not 50, and keep a little close eye on the item because the times tend to be shorter. When I used to cook professionally, I preferred convection ovens because you can get your stuff cooked more quickly.
Getcha a pizza or something you’re used to and try it out convection style!
@therealjrn That’s kinda why I never used it. I knew there were some setting/time chgs required. But you have convinced me to try it out. Maybe I will do another batch of the new Pillsbury CC cookies they have. My daughter really liked them. They are the ones they say, like them better, or they’re free.
I’m still not sure if I could tell much of a difference. I will try them again, since you are making me
@mfladd Yep. Try it. My oven automatically lowers the temp 25°F from what I set when I do convection so I can just do it without thinking. Start checking for doneness in 60-80% of the time you would normally cook for (80% on short things like cookies, 60-70% on big, long-cooking things like roasts or turkeys). Or use a leave in thermometer if you’ve got one and it’s appropriate.
Convection is great for roasting, cooking casseroles, frozen stuff or pizzas, even cookies because they cook faster. I haven’t used it much for baking things like cakes or bread because when we moved here and I read up on it I read somewhere not to use it for that. Something about how those kinds of items needed the time for moisture to cook out properly and slowly enough (maybe?). But that could be wrong. I’ve just not tried; I don’t bake much anyway.
@djslack@ruouttaurmind I dislike baked frozen French fries so I can’t tell you but I lovelovelove crispy tater tots and can assure you convection cooking is perfect for them. Fresh potato wedges come out nicely crisped and moist on the inside with convection cooking.
I’ve never been a baker but my yeast dinner rolls came out wonderfully risen (rose? raised?) and brown in a convection oven.
It kind of makes sense to me that some moist baked goods might not be well served by all that hot dry air though.
@djslack@ruouttaurmind@therealjrn Love my convection oven. Have had it for 16+ years… Great for baking, and as mentioned crisping “fried” food. Awesome for baking turkey or chicken, and lots and lots of trays of cookies or appetizers at once.
@ruouttaurmind I’m still bummed this wasn’t available in my area. Our fridge, dishwasher, and microwave are all stainless steel but we still have the white range that was in the house when we bought it. It works well enough but for this price I would have replaced it in heartbeat.
@therealjrn Heh. I had to call yesterday and reschedule for Thursday. I had an important meeting crop up at the last minute.
@stardate820926 My fridge and microwave are newish and are white, the decades old, busted up hoopty half-working stove is like a dark bisque, the dishwasher (also ancient and maybe works or doesn’t?) is black. I really would have preferred a white stove, but as you say, for the price… what could I do?? I don’t use the dishwasher for anything more than a dish drainer because it’s SO LOUD I can’t hear myself think when it’s running. I haven’t actually turned it on for close to 20 years. I would like to replace it, but it would have to be one of those super-quiet models like the 38dBA, $1,000 Bosch. I don’t dislike hand washing dishes a thousand bucks worth.
Big day today eh? New range…hope you cleared some space!
Ha! Despite calling Lowe’s yesterday to reschedule my deliver day, I just got off the phone with the delivery driver who’s sitting in front of my house with my stove.
I was conflicted on this decision, but I told him to go ahead and leave it at the front door. I don’t worry that anyone will come steal my stove, but rather if there is any handling damage to the stove.
Just now finished installing the new stove. Took about twice as long as I anticipated. The most time consuming bit was pulling off all the adhesive protective plastic sheeting from every freakin square inch of the thing. Getting it squared and leveled was a bit of an effort as well. But I’m a little OCD about stuff like that and I wouldn’t quit until it was perfect in all axis.
I was looking forward to taking it on it’s maiden voyage, but I’m too spent to cook anything.
It’s all good though; long weekend starting Thursday afternoon, so plenty of time.
Don’t regret one penny of the ~$800 uber-quiet dishwasher (SS interior too) we got a few years back. You will not believe how you put up with the racket from the old one. Worth it to sleep right through the delay wash kicking off at 1am.
@djslack It’s pretty fancy for a Dollar Tree. I first looked in the little one by my house (no dice there) but this one is out in the well-heeled part of town in the former location of a medium grocery store. Nice wide, clean isles, etc. Lots and lots of room for stock.
Bill the Damn Hippie has gotten all in a twist about drive through window sneakers, or something. But when Bill loses his shit, we all get free beer, something like that…

@mike808@RiotDemon@sammydog01@therealjrn I finally broke down and ordered some spices. I don’t really need them and I rarely have time to cook but Fox Point sounds really good. I ended up with the Salsa Salad Seasoning. Has anyone tried that one?
Woot has a gaming headset today on WTF pricing. It’s a Steelseries 3HV2. My kid needs a gaming headset and his birthday is coming up. I guess it’s worth a buck, but is it worth any more? Looks like they have refurbs on Amazon for $20.
@ruouttaurmind Since getting the XboxOne, I haven’t used a headset much at all. the Xbox360 was tricky about independently controlling chat vs game volume. If I plug a standard headset like that into the XBoxOne game controller, will I get both chat and game sound? I would suspect only chat sound…
@medz You get both chat and game sound. The downside: You have to mix levels in the audio settings on the Xbox. Same to mute. The Microsoft headset adapter provides push button access to those settings.
@narfcake That’s what I’m using in my home office. A Brother 235DN (I think?). No complaints, but it is a power hog. In the office we’re using a few Xerox, including a 12 year old Phaser 6180 which is still going strong after 300k+ pages. No complaints with Xerox, except the very high OEM toner price. But that’s not specific to Xerox, is it.
@medz No worries! Cancel your Xerox order and grab this refurb Brother EHLL2305w at Walmart for $55 plus tax and free shipping (about $60 total I’m guessing). Toner carts as low as about $15 for 1200 pages.
“Hackers injected 15 lines of card skimming code on the online retailer’s payments page which remained for more than a month between August 14 and September 18 […] The code siphoned off credit card data from unsuspecting customers to a server controlled by the hackers with a similar domain name — likely to avoid detection. The server even used an HTTPS certificate to blend in.”
@ruouttaurmind Got the printer today. The product box wasn’t inside a shipping box, so it was beat to shit. It also had “REFUSE” written all over it. I wonder if the previous buyer received it all beat-up and refused delivery. Inside the box, however, I had the user manual and cables. It even had the blue tape on it that keeps the doors and flaps secure. Inside the printer was a starter toner cartridge that was also still taped secure for shipping. I won’t know whether to curse you until I set it up and try it.
@ruouttaurmind Printer works fine! Even though it isn’t listed in the compatible models for the Xerox Printer plug-in app for Android, it still works printing from my phone! Thanks for the great advice. Never doubted you for a moment.
This is kind of a cool portal page I just found. Maybe a lot of you already know about it, but if I did know, I’ve since forgotten. It appears to have been around for quite a while. https://www.refdesk.com/
Ok kiddies, last deal for a while. I’ll be out of the country until mid-October. Hopefully someone will pick up the slack and find ways to spend @mfladd, @sammydog01 and @therealjrn’s money while I’m gone.

Stir fried Tarantula
Grownup takes the poison thing out
Kids pull the hairs off
Cut up and stir fry
Toasted daddy long legs
Put a stick through the body by the head
The stick has to be long enough not to burn your hand and skinny so there is spider left
Cool long enough for the legs to burn off
Don’t catch it on fire or there will be nothing left.
My comment after hearing this:
Me: So you want tarantula for dinner? (thinking how will I tell petsmart that I want their biggest, juiciest tarantula and no tarantula food)
Her: No mom. Spider no good. In this country we have chicken.
Then about 4 years later after the article (with photos) came out about Angeline Jolie and Maddox in eating bugs for dinner so he could experience food from his country (Cambodia, also my daughter’s country).
Her: Cambodia people smart. Tourists are stupid. Cambodia people convince tourists to eat bugs. Only poor people in Cambodia eat bugs.
This from my child who caught a wasp by the wings and was confused when I put it in a jar with holes in the lid for her, and then later liberated it, rather than in dinner.
@luvche21@mfladd@sammydog01 I have not purchased legos, but yes I have purchased from the site. I bought waterford from them … It is the normal goodwill, but with the good stuff culled out for auction.
Keep an eye on the shipping and handling…different locations, different policies. No nastiness, just some are pick up only… Yada yada yada…
@mfladd I’m trying to remember the exact number, but I think I read that I should expect around $10 per pound of Lego in bulk, so that $19 pound assortment would have been less than half that. Still seems high, but I assume that’s a ton of pieces.
@luvche21@mikibell@sammydog01 Thanks. The amount of lego’s appears bigger than I thought with this pic (it’s at least half that box). My son will love them!! I think I love them more because they aren’t new.
@mfladd@mikibell That’s awesome!! Can I ask what time and what timezone you nabbed them? I’m guessing there are a couple guys that bid each other until ~$5/pound, but one of them wasn’t available for this one. Maybe knowing the time will help me get some too (assuming the other dudes are unavailable too)
@luvche21@mikibell There were even more mini-figs. The ad said they only pulled out what they saw. Even more parts (their heads are probably in there somewhere).
This is basically the exact time I bought it.
10/4/2018 6:57:00 PM Pacific Time (9:57 EST)
I was surprised because it took my first bid at $1 over the last bid. The last bid was 9 min. earlier. There was no one contesting it in the last seconds. I also just saw 7 lbs go pretty cheap too. It certainly appears that you shouldn’t jump for them. Instead just wait till you find the night where there is a lull in the bidding.
@sammydog01@mfladd Just won the 16 pound lot for $43! That’s $2.69/pound (or $3.45/pound including shipping). My kids are going to have an awesome Christmas! …that is if I can keep my mouth shut (or keep myself from playing with them) for that long!
@luvche21@sammydog01 I am sure it did with how low it was going. There was one bidder going against me in the final seconds, but they didn’t really want it, it seems. It’s weird how much the going prices differ hour to hour. This one had the cool vehicles so I am not sure what happened. Shipping and handling was only $9.90 too.
@mfladd Wow!!! Awesome find!! How on earth did I miss that one? That’s sooooo much better than anything else I’ve seen on there! Would you mind sending me a link to the listing (even in a whisper) so that I can see how it was advertised?
@luvche21@mfladd@mikibell@reg036@RiotDemon If you have kids or someone, anyone, who will play with random Legos these are great deals. If your kids are lazy and will only build sets with instructions and the only thing the adults do with them are sort them into boxes in fits of OCD they are probably not worth the cash. (Guess which category my family fits into? It took me a week to figure out a sorting system.)
@RiotDemon Boomer is AWESOME! I love him so much! I’m pretty sure the only interactions the various robots have is their wall detectors so they will probably turn away from each other. I will test that out later.
@OldCatLady@reg036 These are on sale today, “get the trio for $30 or choose your favorite for $10”, coupon code get spooky. The popup didn’t reappear when I went back so I couldn’t double check what it said.
Cards Against Humanity is doing a Card pack giveaway if you have a friend who lives in a swing district, otherwise it’s $5 for the pack. Now I need to find a friend in one of those districts to get a free pack lol.

@medz@reg036@RiotDemon@therealjrn I just bought a purple watch for 10 bucks. Used the coupon and it worked even though I shopped at ebay a couple of days ago. I’m with you @RiotDemon, I wouldn’t be surprised if they cancelled it.
@Barney@therealjrn I gave the wife a little stuffed talking animal several years ago for Valentine that was a dirt cheap buy… The thing has the most creepy sounding voice saying “won’t you be mine”. It’s sounds like a stalker killer lol. Stressed on the"mine".
@reg036@therealjrn@RiotDemon I just picked mine up. I had three employees trying to figure this deal out. This item is not marked as clearance in the store (marked as full price $25), but it does ring up at the sales price. Probably why there are so many left in store. It’s probably the nicest trellis they carry in store. People couldn’t believe it was $6. The one in store had 3 pot holders in it - they spin to open.
I will probably use it with some flowering vines next spring.
@sligett I was just too lazy this morning to make an October deal thread
@mfladd so I picked up this at my local store. It was marked as the item you linked, butttt, it was different. I didn’t notice until I got home. They are only 5 foot and instead of sticking in the ground, they have feet that swing outwards. They also have three holders instead of two. So now I can’t use them quite the way I wanted, but I’ll figure it out.
@RiotDemon Mine was slightly different too. But mine was 72 in and stuck in the ground. Mine only was different in the design pattern and 3 pot holders. It’s sounds like you got something quite different.
@mfladd Wish I’d seen this sooner, there are only two left in town, 10m away in different directions. If they were at the same place I’d go get them but that’s a long drive for one trellis. I was envisioning running 5 or 6 of them down my fenceline for my ivy to climb, my vinyl fencing is too slick for it.
Office Depot and OfficeMax has 2+ 24pk of 16oz Crystal Geyser Spring Water on sale for $3.04 w/ free store pickup (price reflected in cart). Must add a quantity of 2 to cart w/ store pickup for the sale price.
However, the steal of a deal is for 11x 24-Packs for $11.59 when you apply coupon code 61252959 during checkout.
@mike808 good looking out but I could only get the $2.99/case “regular price” - never could get it to show two for $3.04. The coupon takes 32% off $32 or more so it brought 11 down to $24.48 with tax. Not bad but not the same.
Also, I’m unsure where I would keep such a stock of bottled water now that I think about it.
@djslack@mike808 Your local churches or charities would welcome them. They’re assembling truckloads to take to the Florida areas destroyed by Michael. Usually local radio/TV stations do drives, too. A few hundred socks, underwear, shirts, diapers, and deodorants would be welcome too.
