Does anyone know how to check profiles if they haven’t posted? As the email bounced as well I am presuming someone was hoping to get and not send. They have been excluded unless I hear otherwise from them.

I called them today to let them know I have requested the first batch of money to be taken out of the account so I can give it to them (gofundme said Feb 1 - I wish it could be sooner) and one of them started crying that strangers would help her out. Another one clearly was struggling not to cry. The folks on the meh forum are truly wonderful.
Update! My garbage fabrication is finished, one hour later. So…we’re deep in “meh” territory here people. If the stars align, I should be able to put this in the mail Friday!

Those who wanted to send only - by the time I got the list out last night and then did work stuff I had to do I was too tired (am too tired this morning too - sitting at car repair, that was too early!) and I have deadlines (I teach online and micromanagement is the norm). I’ll either email this evening or tomorrow with info. The short version is if you only want to send if someone gets screwed, if you want to randomly pick someone to send a bonus box to, or… I know we have a couple of bonus box people and one who wants to send a bonus box only if they aren’t needed for anyone being screwed by their sender.
If you signed up for a box and you want to give your sender hints about what to put in the box post on this thread (no narfcake did not sign up so sending live cats and catshirts is out ).
PS that doesn’t mean you will get a personalized box, but some people try to do that. Others have had their boxes packed for ages thinking I was going to get my act together to run this last fall.
I sent a name correction to three of you just now (as in you weren’t sent the mailing address name, just the meh name). So everyone please periodically check your email for stuff like this. Hopefully this is the only thing I screwed up.

@LemonTheCat Besides blaming the goat complain to management as they only had it on broadcast for a couple of hours… if it had been there at least a day or two it would have been more visible. You aren’t the only one who didn’t see it.

I packed most of a box, but then found weird pockets of maybe better (“better” = “more meh”) choices and now I’m vacillating on what to do. I’m home all day tomorrow, so unless the POLAR VORTEX freezes me solid I’ll figure it out.
On a moderately related topic, I owe @studerc an ENORMOUS apology/thank you. He got me in a mehrican exchange in October '16 and sent me a great box of stuff, which I put aside to photograph, never photographed, and then sort of forgot about. Cut to: today, when I realized that we should cover the huge gaps at the windows of our structurally unsound house and spent the afternoon FREAKING OUT about it for no real reason, and then thought, “wait. @studerc sent me an open, partially used window sealing kit with no tape. I have tape, I can use the film if I can find it.” And because I am a crazy hoarder, I found it within a half-hour and will be sealing up at least part of my home tomorrow thanks to him. So, I’m truly sorry I never posted a picture of the great box you sent. And I’m thankful it included a box with some shrink film in it.

Finished packing up a box last night. Since we’re south of the Great 2019 Polar Vortex, it will be going out in the mail today. Turns out it’s only traveling about 50mi, so maybe a quick delivery?
I’ve just spent the last hour stalking the forums, armed with Google search operators, trying to learn a bit more about the targets… er, I mean recipients of the boxes I’ll be sending out tomorrow morning so I could try and tailor the contents of the boxes to the persons.

Hi - So I received my exchange box and I was trying to upload my pics to the reveal thread but everything was wrong so I deleted it. They turned up all sideways and also when I hit upload, a link is generated in the dialogue box where I type but above it, it says “[enter image description here]” - - What am I supposed to put in that box? And where do I type what I want to say about each picture? Am I making this more complicated than it is?
Is there a place I can go to learn how to upload pictures to the Meh forums? Or is there at least a post preview that I am missing?
I feel like I’m shooting blind any time I hit the “Say it” button" and I don’t like it! Lol

@qwerty82 if you put something in the enter description here part that will be the alternate text (caption) for the image. You can leave it alone. The only time someone will see that is if they mouseover/long press on it or if they are using a screenreader. If you put your text there no one will see it unless they do one of those things.
Put what you want to say on the next line after the top part of the code the photo uploader inserts (the [enter description here] part). Leave all the links at the bottom together.
I do it like this: upload pic, type whatever, new line, upload new pic, carry on. I don’t scroll down into the stuff it puts below where I’m writing, just leave it alone.
@qwerty82 The sideways crap is sometimes solved by running the photo though iphoto (or the PC equivalent) and then exporting it. Don’t worry if photos are sideways though. We can just look at it sideways - we will still be able to see what is there. Or you can flag a moderator to fix it for you.
@qwerty82 If you edit your picture (like a minor crop) and save it before you upload it, it will load right side up. There is some techy fancy answer in the forum somewhere for why it loads sideways. Lots of people just leave it sideways and move on.

Ya, it’s pretty uncomfortable. But TBH, the worst part for me is the two or three hours after the surgery waiting for the effects of the local anesthesthetic to wear off. Can’t speak, drooling on myself if I try to drink or spit out the yuck, face and mouth numb… oh damn I hate that part. And the soft diet after. I don’t know how many more smashed potatoes, Jell-O and applesauce I can eat!
A week ago there wasn’t any real pain after. This time it was pretty uncomfortable for a few days.

So…quick note…I have been sick w/ a sinus infection and it’s slowed me down…I finally got my boxes mailed out last week…should have been received yesterday/today…I also got 3 boxes I think - which I should have only gotten 2?..haven’t had a chance to open and document and post…due to only having enough energy to get to work/home/put the tot in bed and follow her…so as I’m getting better - I’ll get the posting done…sorry for any delays on my part - four season weekly weather changes have been hell on my sinuses…

I packed most of a box, but then found weird pockets of maybe better (“better” = “more meh”) choices and now I’m vacillating on what to do. I’m home all day tomorrow, so unless the POLAR VORTEX freezes me solid I’ll figure it out.
On a moderately related topic, I owe @studerc an ENORMOUS apology/thank you. He got me in a mehrican exchange in October '16 and sent me a great box of stuff, which I put aside to photograph, never photographed, and then sort of forgot about. Cut to: today, when I realized that we should cover the huge gaps at the windows of our structurally unsound house and spent the afternoon FREAKING OUT about it for no real reason, and then thought, “wait. @studerc sent me an open, partially used window sealing kit with no tape. I have tape, I can use the film if I can find it.” And because I am a crazy hoarder, I found it within a half-hour and will be sealing up at least part of my home tomorrow thanks to him. So, I’m truly sorry I never posted a picture of the great box you sent. And I’m thankful it included a box with some shrink film in it.
PS I will be passing along the copy of From Justin to Kelly to my lucky exchange recipient.
To my person I have a pile of stuff but won’t get to the post office until Thursday.
Finished packing up a box last night. Since we’re south of the Great 2019 Polar Vortex, it will be going out in the mail today. Turns out it’s only traveling about 50mi, so maybe a quick delivery?
I’ve just spent the last hour stalking the forums, armed with Google search operators, trying to learn a bit more about the targets… er, I mean recipients of the boxes I’ll be sending out tomorrow morning so I could try and tailor the contents of the boxes to the persons.
My efforts have netted me… NOTHING. A big, fat, empty nothing. Sorry guys! You have to learn to blather more, or you get what you get!

@ruouttaurmind Sorry you randomly got two who don’t post since you were going to make the effort to customize the boxes a bit. I only check that their user name/email is legit and that they didn’t join, oh, say, yesterday. I then, literally, make the rest of it random.
@Kidsandliz No worries! The recipients are legitz, and have posted semi-regularly over the last year or two. But unlike many of us, they don’t seem to share personal details with thousands of random strangers.

Box was sent yesterday. Since I added fidget spinners, I had to send it via ground since it contained batteries. Therefore, it should arrive within the next 5 days.
It is a bonus box so while I will not reveal who is getting it, I can tell you it’s for someone who lives in a state that contains the letter “E”.

@ELUNO I’m a huge fan of the USPS daily email feature. I’m still kind of amazed that it works. Seems like the kind of tech that only Japan or Belgium should have.

So far, this strategy isn’t helping, and is probably giving rein to dark postal-vengeance fantasies that I’d be wise to unnurture. But I’m a punk, Dottie. A rule-flouting rebel. And I fly alone into the teeth of madness, with forever stamps clenched peevishly in my ferocious talons!

@UncleVinny managed to pack box today despite being only 1 thumbed. Hopefully will make it to post office tomorrow, unless the rain is pouring down (I know you frozen people, you’d die for it just being rain, but this is southern California, people drive crazy when it is sunny).

Hi - So I received my exchange box and I was trying to upload my pics to the reveal thread but everything was wrong so I deleted it. They turned up all sideways and also when I hit upload, a link is generated in the dialogue box where I type but above it, it says “[enter image description here]” - - What am I supposed to put in that box? And where do I type what I want to say about each picture? Am I making this more complicated than it is?
Is there a place I can go to learn how to upload pictures to the Meh forums? Or is there at least a post preview that I am missing?
I feel like I’m shooting blind any time I hit the “Say it” button" and I don’t like it! Lol

@qwerty82 if you put something in the enter description here part that will be the alternate text (caption) for the image. You can leave it alone. The only time someone will see that is if they mouseover/long press on it or if they are using a screenreader. If you put your text there no one will see it unless they do one of those things.
Put what you want to say on the next line after the top part of the code the photo uploader inserts (the [enter description here] part). Leave all the links at the bottom together.
I do it like this: upload pic, type whatever, new line, upload new pic, carry on. I don’t scroll down into the stuff it puts below where I’m writing, just leave it alone.
@qwerty82 The sideways crap is sometimes solved by running the photo though iphoto (or the PC equivalent) and then exporting it. Don’t worry if photos are sideways though. We can just look at it sideways - we will still be able to see what is there. Or you can flag a moderator to fix it for you.
@qwerty82 If you edit your picture (like a minor crop) and save it before you upload it, it will load right side up. There is some techy fancy answer in the forum somewhere for why it loads sideways. Lots of people just leave it sideways and move on.

I had more surgery on Thursday, so I was out of the office on Thursday and Friday, but I came in this morning to find a pretty sizable box waiting on my desk from @zachdecker. I have no idea how long it’s been sitting here, but thank you, @zachdecker! I’ll open it up tonight at home and post in the Reveal topic!

Ya, it’s pretty uncomfortable. But TBH, the worst part for me is the two or three hours after the surgery waiting for the effects of the local anesthesthetic to wear off. Can’t speak, drooling on myself if I try to drink or spit out the yuck, face and mouth numb… oh damn I hate that part. And the soft diet after. I don’t know how many more smashed potatoes, Jell-O and applesauce I can eat!
A week ago there wasn’t any real pain after. This time it was pretty uncomfortable for a few days.
I cannot believe I missed an exchange. I’m completely bummed out.

@ruouttaurmind I usually at least look at the forums once a night but I’ve been sick as a dog and was for like 3 weeks, this is the first week that I feel almost human, so between the holidays and…the sickness, I’ve not been very social on the intrawebs.
So…quick note…I have been sick w/ a sinus infection and it’s slowed me down…I finally got my boxes mailed out last week…should have been received yesterday/today…I also got 3 boxes I think - which I should have only gotten 2?..haven’t had a chance to open and document and post…due to only having enough energy to get to work/home/put the tot in bed and follow her…so as I’m getting better - I’ll get the posting done…sorry for any delays on my part - four season weekly weather changes have been hell on my sinuses…

You never know what it’s going to be one day to the next and my body cannot take the bouncing back and forth, then things started blooming because it was so warm so my allergies started up…sigh…crazy weather
