That was very cool! I don’t care that it’s a spy satellite, the launch is still awesome. This heavy lifts off weighing 1.6 million pounds with 2.1 million pounds of thrust, so it looks really slow. But at full throttle it’s burning 5,000 pounds of fuel per second, so the further it goes, the faster it accelerates. In just a few minutes it’s in space, and it has shed over 90% of its weight.
I was actually watching a launch a few weeks ago from an organization I hadn’t heard of. I read up a little about them and they were complaining that the places using reusable rocket boosters are ruining their business. Thought that was pretty interesting. I’m subscribed to ULA, SpaceX, and Blue Origin. I’m looking forward to what they manage to do in the future.
@Ignorant Does not look well maintained - does not have the delta IV heavy we just watched, and the crew dragon demonstration flight is incorrectly listed.
I have a friend who works for NASA. She grew up in Merritt Island by Cape Canaveral and her father worked for NASA too. I’m always envious as she tends to posts pics and videos of most of the launches. It will forever amaze me.

@2many2no - Elon sent up a Tesla. Those run on electricity, right?
Is there a good calendar of launches I could subscribe to? Just something so I can have an easier time not missing them.
@bdb there is a Google Calendar on this page.
