Just got back from Berns Steak House in Tampa. FL -one of its attractions is the “dessert room” which is upstairs from the main eating area where people go after they have their main course.
@Kyeh Main course-a two pound lobster than was two pounds in name only-came with french onion soup, string beans and onion rings and for dessert had a key lime strawberry tort.
@Kyeh Actually what we had on Friday evening was better at Conners steak house in Sarasota. Had this appetizer call the Isle of Seafood. You can see why it is called that. Shrimp, Oysters, Lump crab meat, Lobster and King Crab Leg.
@Felton10 Brian asked me earlier this week what I wanted to do for my birthday. I thought on it for a couple of days and came up with Panda Express (a fast Asian food chain - I guess like Taco Bell is to Mexican). He doesn’t do Asian food and it had been years since I’ve had any.
I wanted Kung Pao Chicken, Orange chicken and chow mein. I looked it up online, I could place my order online and pick it up.
But alas, yesterday afternoon I got super lightheaded and it wasn’t any fun. The humidity was under 15%, we had mild Santa Ana winds and my frigging allergies were giving me fits. So, I didn’t have dinner last night, I wasn’t really hungry. Unless you count the peanut butter M&Ms that were in my birthday box that my best friend sent. I shared with Brian, he had a bag of peanut M&Ms.
@Felton10@lisaviolet oh I love Panda!!! They are building a new one close enough to me that I can get it once in a while now. So excited. Hope you vet your Panda Birthday dinner soon!!!
@Felton10@lisaviolet the dessert room reminds me of the “Dessert Cart” at Busch Stadium.
I use to frequent the ballgames in the luxury suites, and at some point during the game they would offer the dessert options to the luxury suite guests. It was an amazing mix of liquors and decadent desserts.
@f00l@Felton10@Kyeh@macromeh Not to me-although its nice to see some younger people once and a while-my “mom and dad” are old farts if you know what I mean.
@Star2236 Actually its a shame to waste all that great dessert when you are too stuffed to enjoy it. We should go there first and then to the main dinning area, eat what we want and take the rest home.
A couple of years ago me and my wife ordered dessert at PF Changs first because we loved the deep fried banana eggs rolls with ice cream.
@Felton10@Star2236 Years ago I had a boss who would do that during business dinners. He would order his dessert as an appetizer to ensure he was not too full to enjoy it
He also was notorious for ordering a Becks mini keg beer when we went out and were given a “one drink” limit.
Well-got rid of one “child” yesterday-he had to fly out to Aspen Colorado today as part of his new job. Daughter is still here until Wednesday hanging out most of the time at our community pool.
I’ll be noble and volunteer to be “your child”.
I’m sure you will feel much better, not having to experience that “empty nest, no one to pick up after” sensation.
@f00l At our previous house, she complained I wouldn’t turn on the pool heater so she could float around on a raft and read her books. Now living in a community that has a community pool and a poolside bar and restaurant, she can go there all day, float around and read and order food and drinks and charge it to our account. Rough life.
Happy Birthday, you old goats!
Happy birthdays! Yay!
Happy birthdays!

Your stomach will be full after leaving there, but not your wallet.
@Felton10
Yum - so what did you have?

Ah…
I’ve eaten at Bern’s. (In the 1970’s)
I seem to remember some tasty goodness at that table.
Don’t they have some sort of an insane wine cellar?
@Felton10 Sounds deeelicious, especially that mixed seafood appetizer!
@Felton10
The “Dessert room”, you say?
Did you get the soufflé?

He had a couple of nuked hot dogs for dinner.
Great food for a great day!
Sounds like yours was yummier.
@lisaviolet But yours was cheaper-had to foot the bill for both dinners (don’t ask) as well as their plane tickets down here for MY birthday.
@f00l @Kyeh Yes-think the first time we ate there we took the wine cellar tour. They had wines from around the civil war as I remember,

@Felton10 @tinamarie1974 We went to the strip mall yesterday, I got my food! It did not disappoint.

Wow, I didn’t realize you were that old.
@f00l @Kyeh @macromeh Not in age, just the way I look.
@Felton10 @Kyeh @macromeh
@Walterbird is that old?
@f00l @Felton10 @Kyeh @macromeh Not to me-although its nice to see some younger people once and a while-my “mom and dad” are old farts if you know what I mean.

I would just book my dinner for the desert room, it looks so good. Happy belated Birthday!

@lisaviolet - I’m glad you got your Chinese food, finally!

I’d probably be fine with just the deserts. Well maybe take home food for a later day.
Hey there!
Happy Birthday, fuckers!

That message was for @felton10, for @lisaviolet, and for anyone else who might qualify for it.

I just seriously upped my level of volunteerism for this difficult little.
happy fucking birthday @Felton10 and @Lisaviolet!
Happy Belated Birthday guys!
