I own these. They have lots of hiccups with MacOS Sierra, but they can pair to two different BT devices at once which is cool if you want to use your computer and phone with it. Just don’t do them both at the same time.
If you have a large head, be aware that these don’t adjust in size and get rather clampy after a few hours.
@Tin_Foil Ditto. Thank you for the “heads” up on the fit. I’m one of those weirdos whose first question about headphones is, “Will it fit on my ginormous noggin?”
@robson they cut out repeatedly for the first 30 seconds with BT. The base doesn’t even work now, but I didn’t use it anyway because the system volume controls don’t work with it and I don’t need 3D audio.
The BT disconnects every now and then since upgrading to the latest MacOS–definitely the most annoying issue.
Should update the description which currently calls them “Bluetooth headphones” so there’s no confusion. These are wireless headphones but they don’t speak Danish.
The transmitter plugs into a USB port and appears to the OS as a USB headset. So you don’t have to worry about Bluetooth pairing hijinks or audio compression compromising the quality, but need a computer with a regular USB port to use this.
@trisk Looks to me like it does both either connected to a pc via the usb volume control or over Bluetooth - it has an input if you want to wire the headphones directly as well.
@dcNate Somehow missed the Bluetooth section in the manual, thanks! Yep looks like these will work with either the USB transmitter or regular Bluetooth…
Turtle Beach makes pretty shitty, fragile headphones. You kind find all sorts of complaints about their quality control online.
Their customer service is also fucking awful. They insisted that my headphones that randomly shut off did so because of “RF* interference” from my WiFi and refused to warranty/replace them.
@ponagathos It is a good deal, it’s not a steal however… I’d love them but my current budget wouldn’t allow me to even get a Fuko… so it’s a pass. But It’s let me know I will likely get them in the future at full cost when budget allows (IE NOT around the holidays…)
I’ve bought so many headphones from Meh, it’s like I’m searching for the Holy Grail! Is this one it? I bet not, and yet I’m still tempted. I need help…
@robson Who are you kidding? You know you’re going to regret it when all the smart buyers start talking about how awesome they are…you don’t want to miss out do you?
I have this headset. I sent a cheaper headset into Turtle Beach on RMA. They didn’t have an exact replacement, so they gave me a free upgrade! The customer service is slow to act but very accommodating. The replacement headset failed in a few months and they replaced it for free. The next one failed within a few months and they replaced that one for free. That one failed and they replaced it, only charging me for shipping.
So I don’t know… Really like the headphones and the customer service. But I’m not a fan of its reliability.
@thismyusername I know a little bit about acoustics and psychoacoustics, and I skimmed that Wiki article and even some of the linked ones, and saw nothing about simulating 8 channel surround w/ only 2 speakers.
@DennisG2014 The short version is that ultimately, you only have two ears. Headphones with “surround sound” are just rendering those surround channels back into a binaural signal.
Binaural recordings have great headspace - if and only if you’re sitting perfectly still. Moving around with a true binaural recording can be kind of weird and disorienting, because the audio track still thinks your head is in one place. (An original binaural recording is made with special gear: a mannequin head with a microphone in each of its ears.)
I bought something that looked just like this, 30 years or so ago. They worked on RF (that’s radio frequency, for you young whippersnappers) and they worked much better than Bluetooth. They worked even if I was four rooms and several walls away. I used them to listen to TV while working around the apartment.
So while I take a back seat to no one in my love of and admiration for the internet and all the wonders of this age, I sometimes shake my gray head at the amounts people are willing to pay for … well, gadgets.
@Chakolate Awe yes, 1986.
Ronald Reagan was in the White House, the DOW was at 1895, the Federal Reserve loaned money at 7.50%, 1 gallon of gas was 89 cents and Radio Shack sold mono RF headphones for $150.00.
@medz I don’t remember - I remember I used rechargeable ones. At least, I think I remember that. Trouble is, I often don’t remember what I had for breakfast.
Dear Meh: I’ve already spent a bunch of money the past 24 hours so you can go ahead and offer some sort of hummingbird accessory tonight and save the good stuff for later in the week. Thank you.
@kmbrooks2010 Glad to hear that! Mine came today, can’t hook them up until tomorrow, family event tonight. I’ll let you know tomorrow! By the way, did you try updating firmware? How did that go?
@robson it yet. But used them the other night while my beautiful wife was snoring like a drunk lumberjack and they worked great. Maybe I’ll get time this weekend to update firmware.
@robson Firmware update was automatic for me and took 30 seconds. So far working well on my windows 7 machine.
Protip: Sound quality sucked at first, until I noticed that it installed itself as two different output devices. You need to switch to the right output (one was for communication, the other media) or it will sound awful.
So far so good, sounds great! Firmware on mine already up to date. Seems like a quality product, little tight fit on big noggin as others have said previously. Been wearing for about 2 hours so far. Set up was easy as long as you RTFM! Using mine with a Mac, haven’t tried my Windows laptop yet. Did try the Ear Force updater app on my Windows machine, said firmware version is the same as on my Mac (1.5.1).
Well… I didn’t realize they were in “legacy” status with Turtle Beach when I bought them. Support is basically nothing. When I asked why the Mac app was telling me “firmware update required” but the firmware would never update, they responded with “there has never been a firmware update for the i60.” …so I guess that feature is just never going to work; at the very least it thinks a firmware update is required and won’t connect or control my headset. Disappointing to say the least. It won’t even work when I boot my Mac into Windows
At least the app doesn’t do anything critical except for update the firmware. It would just be nice to have that connectivity.

my brother had these with his XBox 360 and loved them. really good for playing at night if you have sleeping women/children.
@NAFderwin Does it gag the person wearing them so the rest of the household can sleep?
@callow ball gag is an optional accessory as far as i know
Since when did the staples “That was easy” button become available in grey?

My cranium’s more Pacific Rim than Stuart Little, so this is good info. Thanks for saving me $99
@Tin_Foil Ditto. Thank you for the “heads” up on the fit. I’m one of those weirdos whose first question about headphones is, “Will it fit on my ginormous noggin?”
@tizio for anyone just wanting that two device feature, my $35 Air-fi Runaways do that
@tizio what sort of issues do you have with Sierra? What about El Capitan? Always like to wait a bit till I upgrade…
@robson they cut out repeatedly for the first 30 seconds with BT. The base doesn’t even work now, but I didn’t use it anyway because the system volume controls don’t work with it and I don’t need 3D audio.

Gaming headphones with no mic? Guess that’s how they ended up on Meh.
@Tin_Foil There is a mic, but it sucks cat ass so basically you can say it has no mic.
Edit: Ignore me, they are dual USB and Bluetooth.
Should update the description which currently calls them “Bluetooth headphones” so there’s no confusion. These are wireless headphones but they don’t speak Danish.

Would they work with a PS4?
@PenguinOnTheRox I want to know the same thing. This says it isn’t: http://www.g4tv.ca/technews/TK/TK_20140220_turtle_beach_i60.shtml
But they do sell an adapter…
Is Pewdiepie now modelling for Meh?
Can they be used as wireless audio headphones for a Samsung television also? No gaming.
I want these, but I know the mic is awful.
If I didn’t already have a set of really good noise-canceling wireless Sony headphones from Costco, I’d actually consider this.
But I do, so… meh.
Turtle Beach makes pretty shitty, fragile headphones. You kind find all sorts of complaints about their quality control online.
Their customer service is also fucking awful. They insisted that my headphones that randomly shut off did so because of “RF* interference” from my WiFi and refused to warranty/replace them.
bluetooths modo has been opened?
I like how they have pictures of palm trees on the inside so your ears will feel like they’re on vacation.
How deep can these go while on Bluetooth? My current gaming headset cuts out very badly at just a few inches under water.
Do these work with xbox one by chance and if so do you still get the 7.1 surround sound
$94? Is that $94 U.S. Dollars? I thought this was a deal site.
@ponagathos Some of us with deeper pockets like to save dollars rather than percent symbols.
@ponagathos It is a good deal, it’s not a steal however… I’d love them but my current budget wouldn’t allow me to even get a Fuko… so it’s a pass. But It’s let me know I will likely get them in the future at full cost when budget allows (IE NOT around the holidays…)
These are 7.1 but I only have two ears. Any suggestion? Should I give them away for the tax deduction?
@spyguyusa I think you should keep your ears. Especially since you only have two.
You know…this could be the one!
@therealjrn thanks for the encouragement, asshole
I went for it anyway! I’m sure I’ll regret it
@robson You bet mister robson. My pleasure. We’re all here to help each other and give each other a little encouragement you know?

Refresh the Fuko Meh
I would buy it at $40 maybe even at $50 but this is a little out of my budget.
And I have too many headphones already.
/giphy thanks for not making it cheaper so I wouldn’t unnecessarily spent the money I don’t have
@kus As giphy takes your seemingly overly long text and translates it perfectly through the art of interpretive dance.
Chromebook?
@damo No, just Bluetooth speakers attached to a headband. And stop calling me Shirley.
Can someone explain to me how you get 7.1 surround sound out of two speakers?
@DennisG2014 magic dongle?
@DennisG2014 This is where the RTFM jazz comes in.
@DennisG2014 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychoacoustics
@therealjrn I did STFM (skimmed it) and saw the bit about enabling 8 channel sound which does not explain how 2 speakers simulate 8 channels.
@thismyusername I know a little bit about acoustics and psychoacoustics, and I skimmed that Wiki article and even some of the linked ones, and saw nothing about simulating 8 channel surround w/ only 2 speakers.

Still expensive enough for me to be able to buy it , that’s a shame because I wanted them :’( !!!
Okay, make room, dinosaur coming.

@Chakolate how long did the batteries last?
@therealjrn I know for sure I never paid that much. Probably more like $20. In those days I wouldn’t have bought anything less than a car for $150.
@medz I don’t remember - I remember I used rechargeable ones. At least, I think I remember that. Trouble is, I often don’t remember what I had for breakfast.
These are either exactly what I need, or broken & useless. I’ll guess I’ll find out.
