@djslack I don’t have the 30 minutes right now, because I just spent 30 minutes making up lame movie titles, but it does look cool! I’ll have to watch it tomorrow.
Watched this earlier… it is quite good and the Truckla pickup truck commercial she made is even better, especially the thud when the charging cable hits the ground.
She also just finished radiation of her head for a recurrent brain tumor [nonmalignant, but serious nonetheless].
We think she is awesome- I would love a Trukla too!
Check out her giant scissors video too.
Simone is just a little too special what with the “I never want to drive a fossil fuel vehicle” I guess she’s never taken rides or public transportation. I guess nobody told her about all the extra energy it took to first build the Tesla and second to cutting into and welding all that shit. Does she just think electricity grows on trees? What about all the plastic and rubber on that thing? Tires even? Pfft.
@tinamarie1974@medz Tough crowd around here…my point was the whole “I never want to drive a gas car” thing. I guess it makes her happy to think that, however fanciful that idea is.
@therealjrn It may be that even taking the things you mention into account that less energy is used used compared to a 100% gasoline car. Certainly if running totally on electricity, that is less pollution.
@therealjrn Never driving a gas car is a goal one can control and achieve. She’s not claiming she is leaving zero footprint or that building and charging electric cars doesn’t also produce pollution. Fossil fuels aren’t renewable. Electricity can be generated using renewable sources. As far as driving “gas cars”, E-85 is a good start, but has its own issues. (as do battery-powered cars)
The whole point is to change the preconception about what is socially normal. Currently, “gas cars” are normal, but probably not ideal for a lot of uses. She’s able to use her platform to challenge the notion of gas cars which could sway others which could sway auto manufacturers and regulators which could result in a brighter future for my great, great grandkids.
So yeah, thumbing your nose at her and calling her “too special” for something that makes her happy and doesn’t hurt anyone else is kinda a jerk move. I think we let you off easy.
@Kidsandliz Not automatically, depends on where the electricity comes from.
@medz All y’all can go ahead and have the last word. I’m not getting through here and really don’t feel it’s worth the electricity to try to convince the acolytes.

@baqui63 Yes! That should be embedded here too.
@baqui63 @djslack The finished look reminds me of a VW Seveiro.
“E-Camino”
@ACraigL Perfect.
I saw this! Simone is my hero.

Pffftt…get a load of the interior trim at the 25:42 mark.
/giphy epic fail
@medz Eh, they were scrambling to get it running for the commercial shoot. I’m sure she’ll get around to tidying that all up.
@jeffyoungstrom Will they add a towing hitch too? What kind of truck doesn’t have a tow hitch?
@jeffyoungstrom Not sure electric vehicles can tow that much.
They tend to have more torque than most gas-powered vehicles

@therealjrn Pick your battles, I suppose.
@therealjrn I just tend to be happy when people make an effort to conserve the environment. Every little bit helps

I don’t fault anyone for wanting to be happy.
