I had a roomba 50squillion years ago, and it was OK: a bit finnicky, got stuck, fell down stairs, stuff broke. I can’t justify a cleaner right now, but I’m living in dog hair hell.
Is it worth buying these these days? How about this one?
@tartanknickers if your place is robot vacuum friendly (no rugs that can tangle it up, furniture it can go under without getting stuck) it will totally help release you from dog hair hell.
Until your dog has an accident inside and it creates its own version of dog poop hell.
Their privacy policy is very unclear on how much of your home mapping and video footage they log and process; would be much more appealing if they clearly delineated that information.
@TheMeerkat The vacuum people aren’t selling your floor pictures or stealing your identity. Put your tinfoil hat away. Save it for the security camera deals.
@TheMeerkat@warpedrotors No, they’re only storing on insecure servers, ripe for stealing, and/or selling it to a much wider audience. I’ll keep my tinfoil hat right where it is, thanks.
@RedHot@TheMeerkat Do you think the vacuum will seek out your credit cards and social security number? If someone is going to steal your identity, they’re not using a vacuum map of your home.
@TheMeerkat@warpedrotors No, don’t be absurd. I think the vacuum camera will capture my face and sell it to China and Amazon who will put it into their facial recognition software and watch me everywhere I go. They’ll see everything I buy and say and Amazon will try to sell me stuff and China will put out a contract or bounty for my head in retaliation for that one time I said I support the Hong Kong protests.
Almost pulled the trigger on this, but we have medium pile carpet in the living room, and reviews seem to indicate it can’t handle much of anything other than Berber style carpeting. We also have natural stone tile in the kitchen and wonder if it will get hung up in spots. Finally no way to set virtual barriers.
So while it would probably do a wonderful job in our bedrooms and hallway (laminate) and bathrooms (linoleum) I’m concerned it will get itself randomly stuck in the living room or kitchen, largely defeating the purpose of a robotic vac.
This thing WILL see me naked. no maybes or mights. Assuming it survives regular encounters, does it store that information as well? I feel like I’m at risk of having my nudes stolen and shared with everyone who made fun of me in high school. If this happens could I hold this company accountable? for like, therapy bills and medication? The people that see those photos may have some kind of post traumatic stress and I would like to know that someone out there is helping them.
I was going to pull the trigger until I saw how poorly it cleans on carpeting and that the first half of 2019 Alexa and Google support were not implemented. That combined with Meh seems to indicate this company is going under and you won’t have any support. Oh well…
My Amazon review… As another reviewer posted, I also purchased one of these from Meh.com (we got the M6+). We ran the vacuum the other day and the mop last night. This is our first robot vacuum and we couldn’t be more pleased. We only have tile and laminate flooring so Skippy-bot works great (yes, we have already named it). Skippy-bot ran for about 90 mins last night, all about the house and even under our furniture and bed. Excellent for touch-up mopping and spot cleaning. Only downside we have found is that it will connect to only one phone, when you connect a 2nd phone, the first one is removed. A bit more pricey on Amazon, but I think it is still well worth the money.
@myst00 email trifo at support@trifo.com and tell them the issue. I sent a short video and they overnighted a brand new unit! They really stepped up to fix it!
Yet another entertaining way to get stuff done. Works well and is actually quite entertaining chasing my cat around with it from another room using the phone app. Does the job as good as well as my older R00mba that it replaced. haven’t tried the hard floor option yet.
I received my M6 and used it twice. It works well with my hardwood and vinyl flooring and I was surprised at what it picked up! Mapping is a bit weird and it has some difficulty returning to it’s dock if the main brush gets jammed and you send it home. I think these are best as a supplemental cleaning tool, used nightly.
My puppies sometimes bring sticks into the house and they jam the main brush. I need to pick up the big stuff before the robot starts it’s run.
I cannot get this vacuum to connect to my Wifi via the mobile app under any circumstances. It says it won’t connect to 5G. Got it, ensured that 5G was separate. Says it requires B/G/N. Turned on B/G/N only mode on my wifi router. Nothing. Even tried tethering to my phone and a separate wireless access point. Tried putting in a bad password intentionally to see if I would get the password error. NOTHING. With all attempts, I get “Connection Error” message voice from vacuum after 30 seconds like clockwork. It doesn’t give me any more confidence that the only other 2 reviews in the iOS app store say the exact same thing. Internet search turns up nothing except the “No 5ghz network, b/g/n only” de facto non-helpful troubleshooting. Does anyone have any magic bullets here?
@RiotDemon Yeah, I already have a ticket pending with support and they are usually awesome, but I know they are swamped with the holidays. I wanted to see if anyone had any potential ideas while I wait for a response.
How well is the mapping working for you guys? I am having it clean about a 500 square foot area and I can’t get it to map out properly. It starts looking good, but then after it moves left about 15 feet worth of rows it moves back right 15 feet but on the map it’s off by up to 5 feet and it only gets worse from there. At first it just ends up recleaning the same areas multiple times thinking it discovered a new uncleaned area but then after awhile it essentially gets stuck trying to find a path to an area it thinks it needs to explore but it physically can’t probably because the map is all screwed up. Even worse sometimes over the length of the cleaning the robot slowly starts changing angle causing even more mapping issues. Basically the first half of the area is cleaned great but the second half is terrible once the tracking is far enough off leaving huge uncleaned areas. Also it never can find it’s base when it’s “done” either since it is no longer correctly identifying where it is relative to its base (for example it thinks it needs to move North East to get to the dock but really it needs to move South West). Each time I run it I get something very different (mapping and results). Note that I have ensured that the room is well lit so the robot can take best advantage of it’s camera. Also the room is half tile and half low pile carpet and the map desynching happens on both floor types. Is anyone else experiencing anything like this?
On another note my vacuum always has a fan noise even when it’s not running that is quite annoying (like cpu fan always running at full speed). Anyone else experience this also?
@leftanswer having the same issues. Although mine can usually find the dock. But it will get stuck going back and forth over the same area. And the super annoying noise is terrible.
This is a complete piece of crap. I exchanged the first one for a replacement since the manufacturer said that the first one had a defect. Well, the second one…which is a lower model must have the same exact defect. I spend more time resetting errors on this thing than it spends vacuuming the carpet. Do not purchase. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
Mediocre is still selling this item using a similar description that Meh used claiming it will “map your floorplan” when it will NOT. The newer model, Lucy, does do that but the M6 and M6+ do not permanently map your living spaces.
As others have mentioned it does temporarily map where its been and tends to save that until the next time you use it, but one cannot define the rooms nor “tell it where to go”. One can manually drive it to a location, but you or Alexa can only tell it to start, pause or return to base.
Also, as others have mentioned, it gets lost/confused easily and gets caught in a loop, vacuuming the same two swaths over and over as it “maps” as though it is moving over a width each time.
I bought two, one for me and one for my daughter. After 2 months, mine stopped working. Two weeks later my daughters stopped working. No reply from the company. Now we are SOL. Three Thumbs Down.
This is my first remote vacuum and I love it. I use it for a small area but it is an area with 3 cats. I have used it since Nov. It has more patience in thorough cleaning than I do so that is a win win. It does get lost trying to find the dock depending where it is when that function kicks in. Some days it seems to be lost and does not vacuum every area but I just keep telling it to START.
Absolutely horrible! Purchased for my wife and she unplugged it a few weeks later. Does not map well. Gets lost. Doesn’t vacuum entire areas. Loses connection with app.

This deal says it concerns pie, but it really doesn’t.

@tartanknickers You should get one of dem hairless dogs.
@tartanknickers i have had a deebot n6 for over a year and its worked well with my dog, a short haired super shedder. I will try this one out
not to be used in conjunction with an incontinent puppy.
The emoji today needs to be purple and have a horn. Can it fly?
@hchavers this car came to my town a couple of weeks ago

No natural predators, but it wouldn’t survive long on its own - nature abhors a vacuum.
@sciencemavin especially cats.
Yesterday we had a Meh deal that blows, today one that sucks. What’s on for tomorrow’s Happy Ending?
@phendrick my guess is maybe it involves tugging?
@phendrick lube.
@phendrick Towels.
@phendrick socks.
@phendrick @st_ellis HOW DID YOU KNOW?!?!?

there is no way that app will be working 2 years from now or batteries holding charge. or app working without internet connection

“Iron Pie”! That’s what I named my Ex-Wife’s nether region…

@RedHot I’m thinking you may already have a therapy bill, so they would deny you due to a pre-existing condition.

Requires an online account to use the app for ANYTHING - instant no to buying it.
@nicholfd chairman mao tech?
/giphy instant NO!
Notice me ironpie!

Oooooh. Should I buy and put it in the same room as my Deebot bot with a tapped on butterknife and have BATTLE BOTS!!!
Wait… a live-streaming cleaning bot?
…
…
Does it come with a Twitch account?
Got it! Imagine the video it will record! Mostly faces of dogs and cats saying “what is happeninggggg??”
HOW DO YOU PICK IT UP? I DON’T SEE A HANDLE LIKE THE ROOMBA HAS.
@DALBYO I’ve been waiting for hours for someone to answer how to pick up an ironpie. WITH YOUR MAGNETIC TEETH, obviously.

well, i bought one, the M6+ so we’ll see how good it is

Anyone get theirs yet? Is it working? I just got mine, charged it up, and it shuts off as soon as it kicks off the base.
@jnicholson0619 received mine and acting exactly as you described. Not good.

@MJ2427 @therealjrn You might check your order to make sure they didn’t pull a ninja edit on the delivery date in this thread.
This thing is a piece of junk, my 3-4 year old Roomba is doing circles around this thing that has barely been used. Don’t waste your time or money!

@meah I spoke to meh. They have spoken with the manufacturer. Please contact them again and also write in to meh.com/support
I had written to Meh, no response. I emailed Trio support, we will see.
Thanks
@meah if it’s been two business days, check your spam/promotions/info folders. That’s usually where they end up if you don’t find them.
