@djslack it looks like it was changed between 1206 and 1222, since it previously stated $139 and was changed to $125. The text at the end still states one hundred and thirty nine however.
“Multi-Floor” is really misleading, the image makes it clear that it means it can handle hard floors and carpets (which… so can many other vacuums, that’s not a big deal). I assumed it had some kind of mechanism allowing it to traverse stairs somehow and clean multiple floors.
@warpedrotors Or some kind of mechanism involving big/multiple wheels and/or some kind of mechanism to, idk, lever the front edge up? Not sure what that would look like, but I assume someone’s made something of the sort.

@tweezak That would be the disposable version. Same one you would use for dog poop. (I need to find that video; easily the hardest laugh I’ve had in the meh comments)
For what it’s worth I have the trifo ironpie and it does a good job. It establishes sensible patterns that at least give the impression that it’s going to vacuum everywhere, and handles most furniture without issue.
It did get stuck under the bed once, but was found without having to file a missing robots report with the authorities.
Me personally eye do not cut corners when it comes to appliances or equipment products. Eye know better than to have a wife complaining. What eye do not deserve replicable brands? One year warranty does not seem very distant However, it does not cost $400 either.
With the exception of maybe Shark, I’m not sure if anyone in the field of robot vacuums was a known brand before they started making robot vacuums. And Shark isn’t a big name in the robot side of things.
I bought the Trifo Ironpie . The vacuum itself works fairly well. Unfortunately, it would start vacuuming on schedule, work for about 30 seconds, then announce “Cleaning finished. Returning to base”. They sent me a new one as a replacement, and it did the same thing. They sent ANOTHER one that is exactly the same as the other two. Now I have 3 Trifo Ironpies that don’t work and they won’t refund my purchase price. I have no idea if this model works or not, but I certainly will never buy anything from them again. Absolutely the WORST robo-vac ever built!
i’m ready to buy a new robo vacuum soon, but i want some guarantees that it has repairable/replaceable parts.
works fine without app or that app will still exist in 5 years. Availability of replacement batteries when original get worn out. It’s insane that every appliance is now treated like it’s single use only.
Got one of these as an IRK last year. Dumber than dogshit. Gets stuck constantly, the side brushes are so long they go under any carpet edge and again, it gets stuck… mostly, this got stuck
@aaee I was happy to get an Ironpie in an IRK last year. Being mildly paranoid, I did not hook it into my WiFi network, because it seemed to be a case study in everything wrong with IoT. Easily hacked, with a camera on board and, at the time, no response from the company on how they’d deal with the security issues. (I haven’t checked -maybe they’ve addressed them by now).
Without the internet connection, it works, but is only marginally smarter than the dirt it is picking up. Also, it is just exactly the right height to get stuck under at least a half dozen pieces of furniture in our house. Apparently, it also got depressed enough one time to try to throw itself down the stairs. It is kind of fun to watch, though.
Hopefully this one is better.
@aaee Ditto, mine gets stuck on the stupidest things. It is somehow always high-centering itself on this one little ledge even after I drilled in some bumper extenders.

That’s a hundred and twenty-five bucks, mister writer.
@djslack BAM. I rarely read the entire description but I really thought I was going to be the first one to catch that…
@djslack @FarmerTony Actually if you factor in tax and shipping (for non-VMP) the price is $139…
@djslack @FarmerTony @seraphimcaduto more catering to this non-vmp audience! Outrageous!
@djslack @seraphimcaduto but who cares about those non-members???
Y’all caught half of it. s/thirty-nine/twenty-five/ for the spelled out part at the bottom. Or look at the next to last paragraph.
@djslack it looks like it was changed between 1206 and 1222, since it previously stated $139 and was changed to $125. The text at the end still states one hundred and thirty nine however.
@seraphimcaduto the problem has been resolved.
@djslack darn tootin

@michabailey you mean like magic?
@warpedrotors Or some kind of mechanism involving big/multiple wheels and/or some kind of mechanism to, idk, lever the front edge up? Not sure what that would look like, but I assume someone’s made something of the sort.

@michabailey I figured it meant it could mop too, but I guess that would be multisurface
@michabailey @Seeds Some of the cheap ones don’t do carpet and rugs.
@michabailey @sammydog01 crazy
@michabailey @sammydog01 @Seeds THAT’s the technology I had hoped for 20 years into the 21st century.
(Huh, apparently I made the email.)
@dude The original Roomba
@dude, it looks like ya didn’t have much to say, dude…okay, that fn cartoon wasn’t showing up on my screen, My Bad!!
This is one sweep deal!
@eeterrific Hope it sucks.
@eeterrific, that what she [my lady] said!!
@eeterrific @Ransak, yeah, suck it up!!
How are these on cat puke/hair balls?

@djslack We got an Ironpie in our IRK, and I don’t regret it one bit either

@whomeyesu what’s a replicable brand? Like Xerox?
With the exception of maybe Shark, I’m not sure if anyone in the field of robot vacuums was a known brand before they started making robot vacuums. And Shark isn’t a big name in the robot side of things.
@djslack okay you got me yes Shark
, Dyson,…
Even the comparison price is too cheap for a serious robot vacuum. Good to see Mr. Meh Buyer is back to sourcing cheap knockoffs.
The Amazon reviews are very worrisome.
