@Targaryen I’ve been trying to be a bit more judicious lately, so I have my email alerts set up, but I haven’t been browsing over there. SD is the closest thing to the old deals.woot we have I suppose.
SD is the closest thing to the old deals.woot we have I suppose.
I only found deals.woot in the last maybe 18 mos of it’s existence. It was pretty much an abandoned stepchild by then, desperately in need of mod interventions. Puppet accounts and self proclaimed deal cops were prolific. Still, it was a good resource while it lasted.
@jst1ofknd@Targaryen@therealjrn Same here. Pretty much just meh. Although, in the past I have purchased from formerly Yugster and totally forgot about them until they started inundating me with emails for the last week. And when I remember I go to Brads deals. But Meh is the only one every day.
@Cythwulf@RiotDemon Yeah, I’ve seen these before. I like reading about conspiracy theory things. Not a conspiracy theory follower I just like reading about them.
@katylava It was moving (listing) from the time they started building the second level. From facts about the tower : “In 2008 engineers found that the tower is officially no longer moving – the first time in its history that it hasn’t been slowly listing to one side.”
I climbed the tower in the '80s when it was near its greatest tilt. The view was great (if a little weird) from the top, but NOT recommended for those with agorophobia!
-5 Trying to decide if you start with the worst or the best, or what the best of the worst even means.
-4 Thinking through how much time you’re wasting coming up with a list, and then how much time you’re wasting thinking about how much time you’re wasting
-3 Realizing everyone’s too busy writing their own lists to even read yours
-2 Running out of steam before you come up with five creative things.
@ruouttaurmind You’d like my cousin’s garage then. Last I knew, 10 collectible corvettes. He won a car show (again) last week with the '56 (I think that’s the one he said he put in that show).
@lseeber This is Classic Vette Nirvana: 1968 L68 convertible. 400HP 427ci Tri-Power. The only thing this example is missing is the factory side pipes, and my backside in the drivers seat.
@ruouttaurmind Pretty. I’ve never been a huge vette fan tho so I’m not real familiar with all the models and what they look like. Were I younger, I’d be driving a 1964.5 or a 1965 'stang in metal flake green or burgundy (or maroon as we used to say).
@daveinwarsh@katylava Today I overheard a customer telling a co-worker about how she accidentally grew compost pumpkins and they’re huge and I was SO JEALOUS.
@daveinwarsh@katylava@therealjrn That’s pretty much any pumpkin, isn’t it? Apparently it’s when you throw a whole pumpkin onto your compost pile and just leave it there, and then the next summer you notice some of the seeds germinated. It sounds magical to me.
@katylava@mossygreen@therealjrn Yup. If you toss a pumpkin into the compost pile, you’ll have pumpkins growing everywhere. I pitch ours to the chickens, they love the seeds.
We actually grow pumpkins to look at and others to eat,usually the red kuri, rouge vif d’Etampes and butternut squash to eat. Whichever type grew best that year (we usually mix 2 types together when we store/freeze the processed pulp).
We bake the pumpkin chunks, remove the ‘meat’ and run it through our “Squeezo” thing I bought back in the 70’s. Then it gets used or frozen.
I haven’t watched it. Not even once. I am not beholden to network TV. If it comes on Netflix then I will watch it. I will not have a subscription to CBS All Access for this show.
If Picard’s new show is on it, then I would seriously consider it.
@jst1ofknd so, what i did, was wait until season 1 was over, subscribe to CBS, binge it before the month is over, cancel CBS subscription. $10 for one season of a show ain’t bad really.
I also have a thing where I like completed shows. This kind of fell apart with some of the Netflix “Original” shows (Lost in Space, whatever the Monkey show is)…
I love Voyager and Enterprise too but I think I would watch the other series before those (though I did just start rewatching Enterprise so maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about lol)
I know everyone loves Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan but it’s just never really resonated with me for some reason. Although, the trilogy of The Wrath of Khan, The Search for Spock, and The Voyage Home is pretty great when viewed in order.
@jst1ofknd@stardate820926 I have never liked The Search for Spock. I thought it was by far the worst of the original Star Trek films.
On the other end, I actually liked The Final Frontier, and prefer it to The Journey Home. I don’t understand all of the hate it got.
RIP deals.woot Never forget.
@therealjrn I’d put slick deals higher, but that’s just me.
@Targaryen I was just banging them out…you’re probably right.
@therealjrn other than Meh I’m always checking Slick Deals for… anything really.

Actually, I only have one favorite list, but it’s a doozie:
@rockblossom That’s a hellava list.
/cargo ship.jpg
@rockblossom Took me a second but then I got it. Good one!
@rockblossom @Targaryen i still don’t get it but i’m going to blame it on sleep deprivation
@katylava A “list” is a tilt to one side. Usually used nautically, but was creatively used here by @rockblossom.
@rockblossom @therealjrn ohhhh, I thought it had to be moving to “list” like that.
@rockblossom touche’ !!
@katylava It was moving (listing) from the time they started building the second level. From facts about the tower :
“In 2008 engineers found that the tower is officially no longer moving – the first time in its history that it hasn’t been slowly listing to one side.”

@Kidsandliz yes! i almost went with a Fibonacci list, but i like prime numbers more.
@carl669 @Kidsandliz Y’all know that 1 is not a prime number, right?
@Sabre99
@Sabre99 Details details details. It would have wrecked my pun to acknowledge that it only has one divisor and not two.
@Limewater i never saw the animated series, but i would put the rest in the same order.
though i’d probably put Highlander: The Raven at #4 and move the others down. i pretend Highlander II and Endgame are fan fiction.

@daveinwarsh @katylava @mossygreen What is a compost pumpkin? Is that something you grow specifically to throw away?
@daveinwarsh @katylava @therealjrn That’s pretty much any pumpkin, isn’t it? Apparently it’s when you throw a whole pumpkin onto your compost pile and just leave it there, and then the next summer you notice some of the seeds germinated. It sounds magical to me.

If Picard comes back in a new show then everything will likely shift down to make room at #1.
@jst1ofknd Discovery didn’t even make the top 5, wow.
@katylava
I haven’t watched it. Not even once. I am not beholden to network TV. If it comes on Netflix then I will watch it. I will not have a subscription to CBS All Access for this show.
If Picard’s new show is on it, then I would seriously consider it.

Unrelated but my sister pointed out that the initials for Discovery is STD. Call me juvenile, but I am amused.

@jst1ofknd I like the ‘original Star Trek’.
It’s nice that Netflix has them all.
Never really got into any of the others.
@jst1ofknd
I love Voyager and Enterprise too but I think I would watch the other series before those (though I did just start rewatching Enterprise so maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about lol)

Ok, maybe I understand about Napoleon… it operates on a different plane and some people just don’t have any appreciation for the cerebral cinema.
But Pulp Fiction? I mean… Pulp Fiction? Only someone who has never seen the film could even suggest such a thing!
@ruouttaurmind
I have seen all the movies on my list. I wish I had walked out of the theater. There were no redeeming qualities to that “film”.
@jst1ofknd @ruouttaurmind Pulp Fiction had a FANTASTIC sound track! Say what you will, but that 12yo in a man’s body knew how to pick the music.
