TIL: Jason Voorhees Statues
9Jason Voorhees, if you aren’t aware, is the main character of the Friday the 13th series of movies. There are two underwater Jason Voorhees statues with one located in Crosby, Minnesota. This statue was put there by artist Curtis Lahr.
The other is located at Lake Pleasant in Arizona. This one might be in trouble though, as the local government takes issue with the statue (among other such underwater displays at the lake) and wants to remove it as “litter” under local park rules. This statue was created Zachary Nagy, and has its own petition on change.org to keep it in place. Its fate is still being decided currently.

There is a guy named Mark Cline that builds crazy stuff here. We went to Dinosaur Kingdom 2 last summer- it was a blast. (His things also burn down frequently.) It’s the story of dinosaurs eating Union soldiers.

No real homage, but some local trivia: Sleepaway Camp was filmed a stones throw from me.
I believe we all learned on Sunday’s Bob’s Burgers that he is correctly referred to as “a goalie named Jason.”
These are all GREAT!
Phoenixville, where The Blob was filmed in 1957, is less than ten minutes from where I work. Every year they have a “BlobFest” which includes a “runout” from the Colonial Theater, site of the movie’s big reveal:
@aetris I would go to that.
@sammydog01 - It’s also become another story of small-town revival; lots of fun shops and restaurants, and a great ice-cream store! Not far from Valley Forge National Park!
If you go and like Indian food, check out Aman’s Indian Bistro.
@aetris No way, that’s maybe 10 miles from my brother’s house. Road trip!
