Do I have to go to NOLA in order to find them?
@compunaut The article says Lake Charles to Gulfport. Probably as far north as Jackson.
I have a hook up. And I’m sure some enterprising disintermediator will help supply meet demand.
Weird. I remember banana distinctly as a kid. Maybe I mis-remembered or they discontinued that flavor long ago back in the 19th Century.
I wonder if these are like Arbuckle Mountain Fried Pies, which I sampled when we were in Ardmore, OK. The Dr. Pepper Fried Pie sounds much better than it was, sadly.
@LinnE doesn’t sound good at all! (The Dr Pepper)

Spinach? Yuck!
Those are probably more like Latino/Spanish Empanadas, “Nachitoches Meat Pies”, the Northern Midwest’s “Cornish Pasty”, or Italian Calzones. It seems every culture has a version.
Hubig’s are specifically the “Southern Fried Fruit Hand Pies” kind of pie with a fruit or sweet pudding filling, surrounded by crust, deep fried, sized so that you can hold it in your hand and is optionally glazed like a donut. Hubig’s are glazed.
probably don’t hold a candle to:
