I’m still waiting for a deal on the VW T1, but until then, this will do well enough. Normally $100, probably reaching the end of it’s run and due to be retired soon.
Amz has one in the warehouse in VG condition, but I’m afraid to take a chance on that one. So instead I’ll use my Discover and save an additional 5% cash back, plus link to Amz via Rakuten for a few more percent cash back.

The array of products featured in the Star Wars x Le Creuset collection is impressive: there’s a “Han Solo in Carbonite” roaster, a Porg pie bird (a ceramic bird you put in the middle of your pies to let the steam out while they’re baking), Death Star and Millennium Falcon silicone trivets, Dutch ovens and mini cocottes that come in BB-8, R2-D2 and C-3PO finishes, and a Darth Vader Dutch oven.
They’ll be available on November 1st at Le Creuset stores and online as well as on Yuppie Chef. There’s no pricing information yet, but given that Le Creuset makes the holy grail of Dutch ovens that range anywhere from $200 to $300, we can expect the prices to be around that amount.
If you’re looking for something truly exclusive though, look no further than the $900 limited-edition Tatooine round dutch oven. It’s hand-painted, and only nine of them will be made, to celebrate the “9-part Skywalker Saga.”
Regular Macy’s price is $38, so after rebate this is almost 75% off. Pay with Chase Freedom rewards card for an additional 5% cash back ($0.95). Link to Macy’s through this Rakuten linky for another 10% cash back ($1.90) for a final price of about $6.50.
@ruouttaurmind i have a previous model of this. Good vacuum for the price. The lithium battery will self discharge though so don’t leave it sitting for months unattended - i left mine out in the shop and just finished disassembling it and reviving the 18650 cells. It came back just fine and is back in business now.
This does not suck much … I mean the suction power is not that strong, even when fully charge. Also, a full charge lasts only a few minutes of continuous use. Not complaining though. Just so you know what you’re getting.

@Barney I already cancelled it. I read the thread for the last air fryer Meh sold and they said it’s only good for stuff I shouldn’t be eating anyway. Plus I have a convection toaster oven. I’ve never actually pushed the convection button but I assume it works.
No, this is not a heavy duty water cannon. It’s a lightweight pressure washer suitable for many homeowners. Washing the deck or driveway, single story houses, the car, etc. This is not the one you want to hose down your three story brownstone, but it’s an inexpensive option for many folks. Weighing in at just over 9 pounds, I’m probably going to order this for my elderly mother. I think she can manage the weight. Or maybe I’ll build a little wheel cart for it.

Hundreds of DVD and Blu-ray titles to choose from. Even a smattering of Ultimate Edition titles in there (Blu-ray, DVD and Digital). Prices as low as $4 with some Ultimate Edition titles under five bucks.
@therealjrn I have been systematically ripping my DVDs to digital and copying them to a flash drive connected to my Linksys router for network access. I can watch them via Roku’s Media Player app. Since I bailed out on pay-to-watch TV service providers those ripped movies have been getting more use. $1 is about the going rate at local yard/garage/tag sales for used DVDs, so that’s probably a better bargain anyway.
I bought one of these in July for $30 and felt like I paid a fair price. For $20 it’s a bargain. Very heavy duty 12ga. conductors and reasonably flexible. Time will tell RE: durability, but I’m definitely in for another.
12/3 extension cords are suitable for the usual daily tasks, but also up to the demands of higher current requirements such as window/portable air con units, welders, portable heaters, etc. the $15 Woods orange extension cord ya got at Walmart is fine for your hedge trimmer, but if you need to power something a bit more power hungry, this should do it nicely.
@cinoclav@ruouttaurmind
Does that work for rural and red state america with no jobs or infrastructure and a shitload or drug abuse too? What about for for poor people generally? Can they just move into your neighborhood? It sounds really … “nice”.
Your suggestion that simply moving somewhere else where problem X does not exist is a lie and not a freedom everyone can exercise equally or freely.
Whatever the exact dollars and cents, I am satisfied with my purchase. If you’re looking for a lesser costly option and don’t care about things like UL cert, safety and longevity of service life, Amz offers a Chinasian version, currently $21.62 (or $24.4306 with 13% sales tax).
@ruouttaurmind@mike808 You guys are taking this way too seriously. I was just wondering about the original cost. The ‘regular’ price could have gone down since July. Btw, just for the record it seems the highest city sales tax listed is Chicago at 10.25%. I obviously don’t expect anyone to move based on sales tax. Real estate taxes - maybe.
Also, for the record I do have a couple of 12/3 UL extension cords. I would never buy shit extension cords to meet those needs. I have an electric snow blower and my driveway is almost 140’ feet long. So I use the 100’ cord and plug it in near the middle so I have enough length to get to either end.
@cinoclav@ruouttaurmind
Oh, okay. I get it. Your comment on relocating to avoid sales tax was just a joke. Like asking China to interfere with the 2020 election. /s
Don’t be ridiculous, @mike808. Anyone who knows anything can tell you China is not going to interfere with the 2020 election. It’ll be Latvia.

Priced at $29 for the 5-piece box, $39 for the 8-piece, and $49 for the 10-piece. Seems to me I paid $30 for the deluxe 10 piece last time, so maybe this doesn’t belong in the “Deals” topic after all? Bollocks.
@ruouttaurmind Well they aren’t by sex this time… Since most of what they sell is for women I’d guess they don’t have enough “man stuff” to make a distinction.
@tinamarie1974 I have six boxes of girly stuff I tried to share with my mom, including a Coach wallet, and seven handbags from Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and Radley. Tons of the beauty stuff Morningsave sells, and lots of (gender neutral) kitcheny stuff, appliances, etc.
The one thing she took was behind door #3 (my desk chair). That wasn’t even in the showcase! FML.
@tinamarie1974 Just guessing: maybe because she spent the last thirty years on a farm, far, far away from anywhere and anyone who cares about things like makeup and handbags. Girly stuff took a back seat to durable clothing, sensible footwear, and any product which would scrub off the stink of cows and chickens. You can take the girl away from the farm, but you can’t take the farm away from the girl I guess.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ruouttaurmind That makes sense. I know my mom is not girly either. She wears a little foundation and “rouge” if she is getting dressed up and that is about it. She just rolls her eyes at me and tells me some days she wonders where I came from (ie am I really her kid) lol
@sammydog01@tinamarie1974 TT said: “We’re playing around with some stuff” Whatever that means…it’s all good. My personally selected BOC from that Star Trek actor turned out pretty good.
@sammydog01@therealjrn@tinamarie1974 I haven’t gotten a good BoC in a very long time. I’ve quietly (or maybe not quietly now) resolved not to go after them anymore. Sour grapes? No, I’m able to get them if I want them, but they just aren’t worth the cost.
@Barney I’ve gotten my $10 out of the last several BOCs… but this last one, the one from the Twitch thingy, that was a sad, pathetic excuse for a box of crap. It had four child size NY Rangers hockey pants, a plush ghost and two child size costumes. Absolutely nothing at all I can use in there.
This Woot-off is a bit of a fizzle. Since I don’t qualify for a BOC I guess I can get busy and have a productive day after all.
/sigh (you know, there really should be a slash command for <sigh> although I have no clue what it would look like.
@mehbee Oh, gosh, I’ll have to check when I get home tonight. Over the last four or five BOCs I’ve received at least half a dozen different costumes. Maybe as many as 8 or 9. I’ll try to remember to dig them up when I get home.
I ordered this last week and just finished installing it. Routed the cables through the arms and now everything is all neat and tidy. I’m satisfied with my purchase for precisely $32.57 including sales tax. Of course your exact total will vary depending on your state, county and local sales tax rates.
@sammydog01 Is 8.5% sales tax high? They never seem to ever take back those extra pennies and half-cent temporary increases we voters stupidly approve. Over and over.
@sammydog01@therealjrn
We approve them because the legislators steal from the kids through education budget cuts to starve the teachers and their union from … educating our kids about really important science stuff - evolution, health/sex ed, climate change, personal finance, and now, constitutional democracy. That forces the taxpayers to replace the funding stolen for the general slush fund.
Crossposting from the goat thread- does anyone know if Amazon negotiates discounts or I have to send my new bean bag chair back? If they would cut me a deal on replacement beans I would keep it.
Spirit Halloween Super Store: Funko Pop! Fortnite Loot Llama for $5 and free shipping on orders over $25 plus 20% off your order. Use code SPIRIT25 on checkout. Make sure you order an extra llama and send me one. K? K!
BTW, they actually have a handful of Pop! figures for five bucks, so if you’re a Funko fan, you shoudln’t have any probs reaching that $25 threshold.
Not EVERYTHING in Warehouse Deals is 20% off, so be wary when you’re shopping. Even identical items in the same condition; some will offer 20% savings, some 10%, some without any additional discount. Just a guess, but it’s probably related to how long that specific item has been darkening the shelves.
Example: Apple Watch Series 4, 44mm GPS only, Space Gray with black Sport Band in VG condition for $336.51, less 20% = $269.21. In my own experience, VG has been a “as new” item in packaging which has been dented, torn or was opened with less than a careful hand.
I ordered a “like new” trailer tongue jack for one of my utility trailers for $22 incl. tax. A savings of about $10 versus Amz main site.
Well at least you have to get the Green Giant Pop! from Walmart. You can probably find enough loose change in the couch to pay for that one. (and WTF is up with no coin emoji anyway?)
@therealjrn I should have blamed the @aetris for all my troubles. But then can finally unblame @aetris today because their system finally got their stuff together. Plus there was a coupon for ordering from them that I added a couple things to save $15.
Pro tip: If you don’t want a “subscription” to six pounds of Gummy Bears, sign up, then once the item is delivered, cancel your subscription. No harm, no foul, and you still get the 5% S&S discount.
Well, it’s a 10.1" Android tablet which becomes a virtual Echo Show when you place it in it’s (included) docking station. Just like Amazon’s Fire HD 10 with a Show Mode charging dock… but not.
Why would this be better than a Fire HD 10 with Show Mode dock? It’s not neutered by Amazon. It’s got a real, genuine version of Android, decent speakers in the dock, and no “special offers” nonsense. Plus it’s about $70 less than the Amz tablet and dock.
@sammydog01 This one is actually Alexa powered rather than Google Assistant powered. Probably would have been a better fit into the sammydog01isphere. But the other one was about half this price, so,
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
These sell for $90 on Amazon. 4.6 stars from over 900 ratings. That sounds pretty solid.
5000K bright white, 4100lm, flush mount or suspend with jack chain, daisychain all four lights to power from one outlet or hardwire, each light has a pull chain on/off switch.
My budget is stretched right now, but I might have to get a couple sets of these for the shop.
@medz Just lop off the plug, strip back the wires and use those wire nuts to hook it up. Easy peasy.
EDIT: Option B - Wire an outlet into the j-box where the current wires enter the ceiling, and plug in there. Add a face plate, and Bob’s your uncle. Outlets are cheap. Less than a buck at the local DIY warehouse. Face plates as well. Maybe a buck and a quarter for both.
@ruouttaurmind Currently, the tube fixtures themselves also serve as the junction boxes. They are chained together with a single wall switch to turn them all on.
I’ll either wire nut it up in a junction box or outlet attached to the rafter for each light…
Anything I should consider if I go the outlet route with the wall switch?
@medz If I understand correctly, there’s just a wire stringing along from the switch to the first fixture, then from each fixture to the next? No j-box involved currently?
If your current spacing doesn’t permit use of the provided 60" power cord to daisy chain from one fixture to the next, say they’re 72" apart or something, I would probably do j-box with outlet, using the existing (romex probably?) wiring. Should be pretty forward.
I wound up ordering a set myself. Budget be damned!
@ruouttaurmind Not in my budget either, but I have two failing or failed ballasts, so it’s getting pretty dim in there… Will be glad to move away from florescent tubes.
@medz Your other option is to buy direct wired (aka ballast bypass) LED bulbs. The ballast is cut out and its wires reused to feed 110v to the ends of the tubes.
In multi-packs, this type can be had for under $10 each bulb.
@narfcake Agreed. In most cases you also need to replace the tombstones with the non-shunted variety. I converted my bathrooms using this method a couple years ago. Though I paid substantially more than $10 per LED tube back then.
At a tenner for each LED tube, this set would be valued at $80.
@medz@narfcake@ruouttaurmind Nice! You already got your lights? My order is still “preparing for shipment” I wouldn’t have had time to mess with them anyway…
Did you put longer mounting chains on your lights @medz? Those chains don’t look like the picture in the sale.
Lowest price ever per tri-dromedary, and about 50% off of competitors.
The kit includes the pliers and 1000 11/16" hog rings. If you don’t know what they are, you probably don’t need them. Handy for farm and garden. Great for repairing or building wire fencing, animal cages, veggie trellis, etc. Much more secure and reliable than twist ties or nylon zip ties. Also used in automotive upholstery installation, and even some home furniture construction.
@ruouttaurmind This is out there for a spur of the moment purchase. Really can’t think of any use I would have for it, but it seems really useful to have!
If you decide you can’t live without hog ring pliers, let me know so I can find you a great deal on a toolbox to store them in. The Drawer of Misguided Purchases must certainly be full to capacity by now.
@tinamarie1974 I have a small room, and an entire garage filled with misguided purchases. My mantra, each time I go into the garage, is “what the heck was I thinking?” as I survey the spoils of my misguided shame. Maybe my credit card is possessed?
That’s probably it. My credit card makes me buy things and I’m powerless to resist.
@ruouttaurmind@tinamarie1974 I really am trying to cut back on my spending and not because my drawer is full to overflowing, even though it is (and the drawer is in my bedroom, or at least it was the last time I looked).
@ruouttaurmind@tinamarie1974 i think that is what the meh exchange is for. Can’t you imagine someone trying to figure out what hog pliers are? Random yet odd and useful is perfect for meh exchange.
@CaptAmehrican@ruouttaurmind um, is it scary that I KNOW what hog pliers are?!?!?!?!? But I am not buying them, I can just borrow my dads if I need them
@CaptAmehrican@ruouttaurmind@tinamarie1974
I didn’t know what hog ruing pliers were, but now since these are such a great deal I’m conflicted. I really, really like a good deal.
The nice thing about this style A-frame? VERY easy for one person to set up. So if you’re an anti-social loner like me, this one is a good option for solo camping excursions. About a pound and a half, so not ideal for backpacking, but not out of range either.
@medz might need some of this when he rewires his lighting fixtures. I just ordered 100’ to rework some stuff at the new house and run a couple additional outlets in my shop. Maybe @therealjrn should lay in a few rolls because it really is a great price for small lots.
Suitable for exposed or non-exposed normally dry locations. Not suitable for frequently submerged situations. So don’t use this to rewire your submarine.
@raccoon81 In this case, 12/2 would be a bit overkill. 8 foot run, 15A circuit, single outlet per breaker. One for the 12A drill press, another 15 foot run for a GU outlet to power a security camera.
@ruouttaurmind i keep catching your deals too late. I’d have been in on this and the hog ring pliers but they went to 3rd party sellers before i got there.
Anyone have any experience with Sugru?
I’ve been hearing about it for years, thought of trying it many times, but I don’t have a specific project in mind.
Seems like really useful stuff though, and I think if I had it on hand, I’d suddenly find many uses for it.
In any case, the “Hacks for your Home” kit is currently on sale at Walmart for $5.50, which is apparently very cheap, so thinking about getting some… although, shipping is $5.99 unless you spend $35, but shipping to store for pickup is free.
@DennisG2014 I haven’t tried Sugru, but I did get another gimmicky bonding product from Woot a couple months ago. Totally different use cases, but the Bondic UV glue really surprised me. It actually works as advertised. I expected a total flop, but it’s really useful. I bought it specifically to repair some welding goggles, and since then I’ve repaired maybe a dozen other items and have yet to encounter a bond it didn’t handle well when used appropriately.
So what’s my point? Not all gimmicky bonding formulas are a scam I guess?
@ruouttaurmind Lifehacker’s been raving about Sugru for years, and it seems to be generally well regarded.
I’m waiting to see if my power comes back on before I buy… been out since early this morning. Can’t really explain why a power outage affects my decision whether or not to buy, but the lack of sleep I got last night, thanks to the storm, has something to do with it.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@DennisG2014 I love the stuff. I’ve used it to repair many ceramics, stop a wobbly table, repair some zipper pulls, plugged a hole in my hardwood floor, and most impressively patch together the carafe on my Ninja blender. I’m definitely drinking the kool-aid. If you buy the white kind you can color match your project with Sharpies. Keep it in the fridge next to your batteries to help it last longer.
This is a great price.
Wasn’t sure about doing the free pickup at Walmart thing, because the nearest one to me is about 20 minutes away, but when I went through the checkout at the Walmart site, I found out I could also have it shipped to and pick it up at a FedEx location that’s about 5 minutes away… Cool!
So, bought one for myself and will give the other to my mum on her upcoming birthday. I think she’ll find more uses for it than I will.
She’s a fan of using florist’s putty to stick things to other things and in many cases, it doesn’t work for shit… There’s a couple of places I’m going to insist that she replace the putty with Sugru - of course, I’ll probably end up being the one to actually do it.
I checked out Sugru’s own Instructables page and found a few things I’m definitely going to do, e.g.; fixing my frayed lap-top charger cable, fixing the busted up, rusty bottom rack in my dishwasher and, maybe best of all, finally (hopefully) stopping the shower water from leaking out onto the floor at the corners of my tub (been trying for years to find a solution to that one).
This rambling, barely coherent series of posts brought to you by Sleep Deprivation®.
This is the shower hack… https://www.instructables.com/id/Bath-Shower-leak-solution/
I’ve been thinking of trying to build a similar dam using caulk, but this should be easier and much less messy.
(mine will be smaller and less ugly than the one shown )
@DennisG2014 I put in a pair of these back when the ex and her kiddies were living with me. Too late to prevent damage to the drywall, but they do a great job keeping water from leaking around the shower curtian.
@ruouttaurmind I’ve looked at those before, but didn’t like how big they are.
I don’t need anything that tall, the water isn’t getting past the curtain that high up. I think my tub must lean a bit into the bathroom, because the water pools up on the rim at the corners and then flows over the side and onto the floor.
I’ve been using a sponge placed at each corner; it works, but it’s gross.
@Nate311 So… any experience w/ stuff that’s past the use by date and hasn’t been refrigerated?
Picked up my package today and, sure enough, both kits are marked w/ a use by date of Feb. 2019.
I was kind of expecting this - after ordering I noticed that these kits are discontinued and also realized that this stuff has a shelf life - so it was the first thing I checked when opening the box. Actually a bit relieved that it’s only 8 months past the date, was worried it’d be more like 18.
The packets have a bit of squish to them, but not as much as I would’ve expected. No idea how soft the stuff is supposed to be though.
Anyway, I’d really like to repair my frayed laptop power cord right away, but that’ll only take about 1/3 of a packet and I don’t know what I’ll do with the rest at the moment. If it were fresher, I’d probably just reseal the remainder and throw it in the freezer, but since this stuff is old, not sure I want to push my luck.
@DennisG2014 My new Walmart packs say use by Apr 2019. They feel okay to me. The normal amount of squishiness in the pack at room temperature is about Laffy Taffy or Hubba Bubba or gummibears or a medium porterhouse or your palm at the base of your thumb when you make a fist.
Degrees of squishiness is not something I’ve ever tried to describe before. I’m guessing your sugru is probably fine.
I don’t ever freeze it, just refrigerate it. I can’t say freezing it is bad, I just don’t do it.
About pinching it off: I do it all the time. I just slice off one end of the packet, scoop out what I think I need, and then roll it back down. Usually I put a tiny binder clip on the end but that’s because I’ve got a drawer full of binder clips, tape or a gumband probably works just as well. Then I just put it back in the fridge for next time.
I know it’s supposed to expire, but in my experience, it doesn’t. I recently used some red (use by Aug 2017) to patch a split in a red plastic Pyrex lid.
Good luck. I think it’ll be fine.
Well, Uncle Jeff is at it again. Word got out that I posted the 14/2 NM Romex deal here, so he pulled stock and the cake is a lie. But here’s an interesting alternative:
This is an all time low price per tridromedary, and about half off regular consumer channel pricing for small lots. Expect Uncle Jeff to sell out quickly.
UF is rated for direct burial of cabling and use in dry, moist, damp or wet and mildly corrosive applications. Sump pumps, well pumps, outdoor lighting, that electrical run to your pergola or pool pump, etc. Common practise suggests limiting a 15A run to 65’, but depending on your application you may be able to extend that. Check your local building codes and be aware of your line load. If you’re unsure, hire a professional.

Range extender, wireless access point, or both. Excellent for adding wifi to older non-wifi devices. I use one to add wifi to a surveillance DVR, a desktop PC and an older television. If you use more than one or two, stay aware of your channel settings to avoid channel saturation and degradation of wifi performance.
I can recommend this. I use one in ap mode coupled with a powerline ethernet adapter to get good wifi in my shop. Since it’s a detached building i figured it was better to do it this way than try to use it as a repeater and still have to go through two walls to get wifi. It’s been rock solid although I’ve only had it installed for about a month.
@ruouttaurmind Why even have it connected to any router then? If you cannot connect to your DVR over the internet to view your home while away from home, it sort of defeats the purpose.
I use mine to see if I left the garage door open – somethings that’s constantly on my mind and would be worthless if it didn’t have internet access.
The cameras are wifi and talk to the DVR through the router. I had to place the router in a central location for consistent communication with the cameras. But that wasn’t an ideal location for the DVR with it’s monitor, mouse and keyboard. Adding wifi to the DVR afforded me the freedom to place it anywhere in the house while keeping the router where it performs best.
I’m with you on the garage door camera. I have one of those cheap 720p cameras in there just for that purpose. But that camera is connected to the main network so I can check in from the outside world.
@ruouttaurmind You use wireless cameras and you claim to be concerned about security? WiFi ones are much easier to hack than Ethernet ones. You can totally isolate an Ethernet packet but it’s impossible to send WiFi packets around your internal network without other people being able to sniff those packets from outside your network.
Aye, true enough. But they’ll have to be within range of that wifi network, dramatically reducing the risk from casual to intentional. At that point, whoever is trying is probably targeting, and I’ve got a bigger problem on my hands.
I don’t claim my isolated camera network is totally secure, just inconvenient, and not accessible from Bulgaria.
@RedOak the powerline part is a separate netgear thing i had.
I am using the tp-link as an AP, not as a repeater. I’ve done repeaters plenty in the past and know repeating can sometimes be finicky, which probably contributes to poor reviews (I havent gone back and read them).
I did have the wifi in my shop act wonky last night but it may have been due to storms. Every time it storms bad the gfci trips and so it was powered down most of yesterday from storms the night before. Thats the first issue I’ve had and a power cycle brought it right back.
@RedOak I use them as AP for non-wifi devices. But in my mother’s previous house I set three up as repeaters for the wifi camera system I installed there. I worked with it for three days without any issues, and she lived with it for a couple years and never complained of any issues. In AP mode I’ve lived with them for about three years and don’t recall any issue at all.
I am an office supply whore… I get it…
Avery Shipping Address Labels, Laser & Inkjet Printers, 60 Labels, 3-1/3x4 Labels, Permanent Adhesive (15264) for 2.44
@mikibell@therealjrn It doesn’t bother me who gets the credit. Perhaps it bothers others, but who cares? What bothers me is being over-moderated when it wasn’t warranted just because someone, on this forum, previously stated that links should be shortened. Who gives a flip what THAT person thinks?
Maybe we are running out of forum space? In that case, perhaps we should shorten all of our threads and replies.
@therealjrn Thank you, kind sir!! My girlies laugh at me because they can always tell my paperwork in the pile of scout stuff… Plastic folder, cool staples/paperclips, post its…what have you… They started calling me names about my cache of office supplies
Hobby Lobby has discontinued carrying the Cameo 3 as they will be stocking the Cameo 4 instead. According to some people in the Silhouette Facebook groups, they’ve been able to find clearanced Cameo 3’s for ~$79. Some have had to ask if there were any in stock as the machines were in the back room and not on the sales floor any more. In-store only.
Not quite as good of a deal as when I got mine from Walmart clearanced for $69.99 but pretty close.
I seem to be always buying litter for my Mr’ Whiskers. Lately I’ve been getting the big box of “ultra” cat litter at Sam’s for ~$20. But here’s a pretty good deal I found on SlickDeals.
Amazon.com has for Select Accounts: 40lbs Dr. Elsey’s Ultra Premium Clumping Cat Litter on sale for $11.09 when you ‘clip’ 40% off coupon found on product page. Shipping is free via subscribe & save. Thanks TBloop
Note, must be logged in to your account to clip coupons. Coupons are typically limited to one per account. You may cancel Subscribe & Save any time after your order ships. Coupon may be targeted and for select Amazon accounts only.
(I dont believe in profiting from your interest, nor promoting some other deal site profiting from Meh customers at Meh’s expense.)
This is a targeted S&S coupon, 1 bag/unit, 1 time-use. It applies to the pet category, not just Dr. Elseys, or not just cat litter. There are different discounts being offered, so YMMV on the 40%. Max value is capped at $50 discount.
There is a separate deal for printable $3 off coupons good until 2020.
Also, the fall season kicks off 5% cash back categories for Discover and Chase Freedom cards, so don’t forget to activate them.
@sammydog01@therealjrn
Slickdeals gets a cut of the items in their built-in referral links before you get redirected to the actual link (so they can track you), and advertisers/sponsors can pay for SD to promote items to FP. Amazon (and resellers leveraging Amazon) is well known for paying to get FP on SD.
So, yeah, SD is itself one big referral site for itself, much like folks here who spam the site with their referral links. And then we wonder why big tech has so much data about our internet use and bitch about the modern surveillance society.
Slick deals and random referral links more directly compete with Meh than links to Amazon. And if you’re being honest with your analogy, who doesn’t compete with Amazon? It’s a straw man and you know it, if you are as smart as I’m giving you credit for here.

Not sure why a manufacturer’s coupon is only available to their pet club members, but maybe that just means you don’t have to go find it yourself, or some kind, smart, generous, handsome, and modest soul has posted it to your favorite deal-day site forum topic for monthly deals like this.
^^^ Proof @therealjrn is a loser that values ignorance over intellect.
That said, the deal is OK for cheap indoor wiring that isnt under high wattage loads. Thinner wire heats up under high current flows, so for higher wattage loads for extended periods, go with a safer, thicker wire. The lower the number the thicker the wire, so 12/3 wire is thicker and heavy-duty/outdoor rated than this 14/3 stuff, suitable for normal inside wall and outlet wiring situations.
@mike808@therealjrn NEMA code specifies 14/2 as suitable for 120VAC 15 ampere circuits, and is the most common size used in the US for residential branch and lighting circuits. 20 ampere circuits must use 12 gauge or larger. Pull an electrical outlet in your house or apartment and chances are above 90% you’re gonna find that it’s fed by 14 gauge sold copper wire.
@ruouttaurmind we learned a lonnnng time ago not to pull outlets in our house! Anything newer than 1928 has lamp cords wiring them!! I kid you not. The moron who owned the house before us, wired any new outlet with a plug end into an existing outlet and a length of lamp cord to the new! We have FOUR electric panels in our house. Smh… It is a pain in the ass to locate a blown circut breaker. Main breaker is welll labeled in case of fire and hubby installed a safe gfi outlet in the kitchen. Without ripping out walls, we are slowly replacing all the chaos with romax!!
Anything newer than 1928 has lamp cords wiring them!!
This is exactly what I’ve been after at my mothers new house. The previous owner installed a bunch of outlets around the outside of the house and garage, plus all the outdoor lighting and two patio ceiling fans using lamp cord through sch-40 PVC plumbing as conduit, tapping into source power by running the lamp cord under the faceplate of an existing outlet. I’ve removed segments of his makeshift conduit and found the lamp cord inside spliced together with duct tape in some spots.
He fancied himself quite the handyman. The poor guy was crushed when I asked for a healthy credit allowance in the purchase price for correcting his electrical and plumbing handiwork.
@ruouttaurmind I wish we had found it before the closing. It was all well hidden. There are wires buried in walls with no wire nuts, romax running between carpet and the padding, wiring hidden under insulation, the notorious lamp wire was behind the dishwasher – our first indication to start looking for crazy crap. I am under strict guidelines as to what I am allowed to touch in our house. No more removing wallpaper or hanging pictures with metal implements
@mikibell This was one of my tasks for today. Mystery lamp cord. It comes through a hole in the ceiling in the garage, runs down the garage wall about 2 feet, then disappears through a hole in the wall. Today I tracked down where it went after going through the garage wall:
There is a plant/curio/storage shelf above the closets in all the bedrooms. The mystery wire was jumbled into a pile up there out of view, end taped up with duct tape. I grabbed my meter to see if it was live on this end, peeled off the tape and the wire ends were twisted together. So I pulled them apart to test for current… and the light on the ceiling fan went out! ??? It appears at some point they had wired or intended to wire some kind of bodged up switch for the ceiling fan? Dunno. The wall switch in that room operates a wall outlet, so the ceiling fan/light is operated with it’s pull chains.
Michaels has a pile of coupons - in store and online. Go to both their home page and click on coupons to see them all. Some are general % off entire purchase or one item.
Condition is stated as: REFURBISHED GRADE A “LIKE NEW RETAIL READY” Condition has NO cosmetic defects, blemishes, dents, scratches or signs of age. GRADE A items have been restored to meet manufacturer quality standards.
I want it, but I can’t spend any money right now. Plus I don’t have a spare minute for fun and games lately. <sigh>
I have purchased four items from this seller listed in this condition. All four items were, in fact, in new condition without blemishes or signs of prior use. Two items even came in the original retail packaging. I have no hesitation purchasing from this seller.
@Barney Thank you, Barney darlin… I have plenty of monkeys… I really posted it because someone at some time was looking for them… I couldn’t quite remember who though!
Worx via eBay: WORX 2-In-1 Electric Pole Saw & Chainsaw for $31 and free shipping.
$44 - 15% automatically applied in your cart = $37.40, apply discount code JUST4HOME for an additional 15% discount = $31.79
YMMV - eBay is offering $10 off for paying with AMEX through direct checkout. Use the code AMEXSAVE at checkout. I do not know if you can stack this with the JUST4HOME code… because I forgot about that offer.
I needed a saw like this about a month ago. And again last weekend. So next time I need one, I’ll have it handy.
8 ampre, 10 inch chain saw, pole adjusts up to 8 feet, use with pole, or without pole as a standard chainsaw.

The holidays are coming. Soon. Do you have any Star Wars fans on your gift list?
@sammydog01 I want it. Not gonna buy it. I know me and I know I would play with it for a few days then it would be a dust collector, like so much other cool stuff I’ve spent my hard earned dosh on. Adulting or whatever. I hate growing up. It’s boring.
I think of all of the deals that have been posted here and on Woot, this is the one that I really wanted (yeah, enough to install an app on my phone if that’s what it took). It makes me sad that it’s gone out of business and that it will (probably?) be no longer supported.
Oh well, that’s one less thing for my nightstand drawer.
@Barney I think Vector will be functional for at least another year or so, and there is a huge community of propeller heads working on a way to mod his firmware so he can live on ad infinitum.
But… his older brother, Cozmo, does not rely on any cloud component, and will function for as long as his little motors and gears continue to spin. Find a deal on Cozmo and you’ll be all set.
Amazon has the Meross Smart Garage Door controller for $36.29. It’s essentially a wifi button that connects to your garage door opener and adds app control, ifttt integration, Google assistant and Alexa controls. It has favorable reviews, more so than the solutions garage door manufacturers put out that are not very stable and require paid subscriptions to be useful.
garage door manufacturers put out that are not very stable and require paid subscriptions to be useful.
FWIW, I’ve been using the Chamberlain MyQ system for just shy of 3 years. No hiccups or glitches ever, and I’ve never paid any subscription fees. Although I did pay about twice the price of that Meross system for the MyQ.
TBH, I wasn’t even aware there was some sort of subscription. What would it do for me?
Wyze.com: Free shipping on any order $25 or more with code WYZEDAY2019 on checkout.
I’ve been curious about their Wyze Sense system, but didn’t want to pay the bite for that plus shipping. I also have been wanting to upgrade some of my cameras to v2 so I can monitor them from my Lenovo Smart Displays (v1 isn’t supported for this for whatever stupid reason).
Wyze just increased the gift card value to $15, but…
I’ve been doing the math on that Starter Pack. It’s not a good value. Even with the increased gift card. The individual cost of the components, plus $15 gift card = about $104. I’m better off purchasing individual bits and having the flexibility to select only the components I want in the quantities I want. For example, I have no use for smart bulbs, so I would choose more motion sensors and another camera instead.
It’s official: @ruoutturmind has downgraded the Wyze Starter Pack to a “do not buy”. Select only the items you want and would use, and get the free shipping offer.
PSA: Target’s annual free shipping event to a on November 1st.
I received a press release at the office this morning from Target corporate which outlines their holiday shopping convenience services and perks, including hinting at Target Circle exclusive deals.
But for most of the general shopping populace, this is the key takeaway:
Free Shipping – And there’s more good news: We’re making free shipping available to all guests for the holidays, with orders arriving as early as the next day! Beginning Nov. 1 through Dec. 21, you’ll enjoy free shipping on hundreds of thousands of items—no minimum purchase or membership required.
Aside from placing first (wooooo!), this is sale-worthy as today’s design is only $12. Long-sleeve and hoodies are also at a reduced price today. Neat!
Target also has prepaid phone cards on sale. This comes around every couple of months, but there prob wont be another sale until spring. Especially with BF phone deals.
YMMV: Check out using AMEX through the eBay checkout system and save another $10 with discount code AMEXSAVE, lowering the price to $48.65. A bargain if you ask me.
Dammit, I just talked myself into buying this thing.
Only three availble at this price, so if you want one, now is the time.
Condition is stated as:
REFURBISHED GRADE A “LIKE NEW RETAIL READY” Condition has NO cosmetic defects, blemishes, dents, scratches or signs of age. GRADE A items have been restored to meet manufacturer quality standards.
This is the smaller 8 inch version of the same displays I already own. I am a big fan and haven’t found anything about the Lenovo Smart Dispaly I don’t love. @sammydog01 also owns one, but maybe doesn’t love it as much, so I encourage her to weigh in with a counterpoint.
@medz Guesstimation including: Limited distro, minimal sales/popularity, age of production cycle, and discount trends. Sets which are discounted 30% or more are often retired within a couple months thereafter.
When comparing to other retired sets and their production life, similar sets are retired after about 12 to 14 months. This one has been in distribution for 11 months and hasn’t set the world on fire with it’s popularity, hasn’t sold for full price since January, and has been pretty deeply discounted a couple times in the last 3 weeks. It’s following the trend.
Don’t start shopping for that villa on the Riveria just yet. I doubt this one will ever be worth more than $12-$15.
Still kicking myself for not getting the Old Fishing Store kit for $89 at Target.
@medz BTW, if you’re looking for resale sets, my money is on the Apollo 11 Lunar Lander and Apollo Saturn V kits. I suspect you could pay full price for these and still make a tidy profit in a couple years. Keep an eye for good deals on these two.
@CaptAmehrican these are a good deal usually about 16 dollars each. I love love love these mugs . I bought a 2 pack of green ones a few years ago and use and abuse them daily. They keep your coffee hot , they float if you accidentally drop in bay, they clean easy.
Negative pount the outer color comes off after about 25 uses but so what silver is fine
Woot has white waterslide decal paper for inkjet printers in its under $10 clearance section. 20 sheets for $9.14, normally $14.50. I’d been looking at this stuff for crafting so I jumped on this deal.
@mikibell I’m not generally a Furd fan, but I definitely admire that kit. It’s one of the sweetest Creator kits they offer. Definitely better than the Technic cars.
Ouch. 16% statutory rate here, plus they tack on every conceivable fee they can dream up.
Ow! I don’t feel so bad now. Still, you made me go look to make sure I can cover the first half due in December…of course they’ll graciously accept full payment then too. Even when I have it I like to make them wait.
Maybe add the LEGO Architecture Great Wall of China 21041 Building Kit to your list since it’s scheduled for retirement at the end of the year. Nah, it’s boring and frankly not worth the $40 IMHO.
Baseplates are on the list for $5, a buck less than usual and half off MSRP. But honestly, I’d suggest the Brickyard brand “compatible” plates for much less. Great quality, excellent fit and function, a fraction of the price.
There are some Speed Champions sets in the mix, so you could get those. Or not.
So… ya, I guess there’s nothing really significant to report here. Return to your homes and businesses. #fakenews, #morose
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@tinamarie1974 That whole “chase after a door” thing was pretty hard. I think they didn’t want to release too many good deals…like 5 of each item or something.
It reminded me of the old woot thing where they had the mansion I think it was?
Target had Anki Overdrive sets on clearance and someone on Woot told me there were fun. Has anyone played with them? Will my teenagers join in or will I be playing all alone?
I spent about $110 for the starter set, the Fast and the Furious starter set, and two jumps. I’m trying to decide if I should return them.
@sammydog01 no idea about the Anki, but, do you have the 3doodler? I can’t remember what pen you had but my local Michael’s had a bunch of accessories on clearance.
@RiotDemon Thanks for the heads up. I have the 3doodler start and create plus. My Michaels got rid of most of their 3doodler stuff a while ago which is kind of sad. I do have a ridiculous amount of plastic. Are you thinking of buying one?
@Barney I JUST GOT BACK! I’m listening to you. We all wind up doing different things in different rooms and I keep seeing stuff and thinking my family can all do that together! I think I’m expecting too much from a toy. But it is totally for Christmas if I keep it.
@sammydog01 damnit. The forum ate my reply. Hope I don’t forget what I was saying.
I wasn’t planning on buying one, but I do see people use them for 3D printing repairs and to glue parts together. My store didn’t have the actual pen for sale only accessories. If I had seen one for super cheap, I might have picked it up. let me know if you need me to grab any accessories they had on clearance at my store to ship to you. They had nozzles and some other parts. I wish I would have taken a picture. I was too busy picking up the last bits of Halloween clearance, and a few Christmas ornaments.
@RiotDemon Thanks! I went on a buying spree a while back- Amazon Warehouse had a ton of their stuff cheap. I have a couple of the older pens- the Create- that I don’t use. They would probably be good for printed part repairs if you want one.
I didn’t realize there was so many different versions of the 3doodler. I’ll have to swing back by to see what version was on sale. It might be the 2.0. Tried to look on their website and figure it out.
@RiotDemon The Create is after the 2.0. The Create plus is the most recent one- it has a twin screw and is really nice. I’ll send you a Create and some plastic- I think it will work for what what you need. Too bad you weren’t into this when ThinkGeek went out of business- they had the special Star Trek Create pen for I think $15. It came with plastic and patterns for geeky Star Trek stuff.
@sammydog01 I probably won’t use it to make hand doodled stuff. I did look at those star trek things and thought they were cool, but I would just print them on my printer instead for much nicer quality.
I think I can use my filament in it so no need to send any black, white, purple, translucent purple, neon red or orange. I have tons of that. Do you need any of those colors?
spent about $110 for the starter set, the Fast and the Furious starter set,
So you have one set or two sets? The Overdrive set plus the Fast and Furious set?
Both sets have been available for around $60 in recent weeks.
If you keep it, you’re definitely going to want the X-52 Ice Supertruck and one of the Supercars (Guardian is sweet). These are normally $50, on clearance as low as $15 in several Walmart locations around my city. Read the description of the Supertrucks at Anki’s product page to understand why you need one.
@ruouttaurmind Both sets- I wanted 4 cars. The regular was $45 and the movie one was $50. My Target has a super truck on clearance- 5 actually, but I can’t find it in the store.
The jump thing got terrible reviews. I’m returning one.
@sammydog01 Great prices. For that cost you should keep at least one and hope the fam gives the fun a chance. And head to back Target with a posse for a hard target search of every merchandise shelf, display rack, clothes rack, end cap, and bottle cap in that store. Your fugitive’s name is X-52 Ice Supertruck.
@ruouttaurmind I just got back from a Target that doesn’t shelve clearance stuff as randomly. I picked up the X-52 Ice for $18. They had a couple of cars for $15 but I think I’m good on those. Guardian is the one car I would buy if I saw it at a good price. And I might buy the track cross piece. But that’s all.
The Amazon reviews for the jump track were evenly divided between star ratings. The one star reviews said the car won’t stay on the track THESE ARE TERRIBLE DON’T BUY THEM! The three star reviews said that sometimes the cars go off the track but SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP! The five star reviews said I was able to make a perfect track with these YOU PEOPLE ARE ALL MORONS! I’m keeping one.
@mossygreen@RiotDemon Did you say hideous and janky? Sometimes I doodle coloring book pages. It’s fun. They look like shit. I had a lot of gold plastic when I did this.
@ruouttaurmind@sammydog01 my target had a couple of the fire trucks, about 5 ice trucks, and several guardian cars along with a couple of starter sets. Same prices you’ve seen.
@DennisG2014@therealjrn Someone should post a link at the end of this topic pointing to the new November topic. You know, because I’m not very motivated and I’ll probably just keep posting here ‘cause I’m too slothenly to seek out the new topic.
Amazon: LEGO Creator Expert 1167 pc. Volkswagen Beetle (10252) for $80 and free shipping.
Alternately, Walmart: LEGO Creator Expert 1167 pc. Volkswagen Beetle (10252) for $80 and free shipping.
@ruouttaurmind Also Legos hold value fairly well… might be worth holding on to for later sale.
@Targaryen Agreed. When this does retire it will likely become one of the more collectible sets.

Coming in November!
@mike808 OMG!!! I now Le Creuset even more! I so want that r2-d2 one and the porg!!! They need to be added to my kitchen collection!!!
/giphy I want one
@tinamarie1974
Even the silicone trivets are themed. The pic filename hints at a $20 price.
@mike808 I am pretty excited!!
Free this week at Penzeys, Potato of Love.
It’s little dried chunks of potato. I don’t know why. And they’re purple.
@sammydog01 What? No @Barney alert?
Ringy dingy scapegoat!
@aetris votes for the party you don’t like.
@sammydog01 The “Justice” seasoning also looks good as a salt-free version of Fox Point.
@sammydog01 I love purple.
purple loves @barney.
@mediocrebot Aww…
This one has been on SD FP for a couple days now, so if you’re interested, don’t hesitate or it might go OOS on ya.
Macy’s: Black and Decker HNV215B Lithium Handheld Vacuum for $9 (after $10 rebate) and free in-store pickup or free shipping with $49 order.
For six bucks I gotta take a shot at this one.
Said the same thing to the ex-wife’s new husband.
Don’t know how long the price will last, but just now found Shazam in HD Digital at Amazon for $7.99.

Morningsave’s deal today is an air fryer for $29. I ordered one. Will I be sorry? What should I cook in it?
@sammydog01 You are so hopeless.
@Barney But it’s healthy. THEY PROMISED IT WAS HEALTHY!
@sammydog01 And did you believe their story about the toothbrushes? Huh, huh, huh?
@Barney Of course. Didn’t everyone?
@sammydog01 How much money did the tooth fairy leave you?
@Barney A quarter. Is that good?
@sammydog01 That’s just about what this deal is worth.
@Barney I have another half hour to cancel. WHAT SHOULD I DO???
@sammydog01 Keep it. It’s a pretty good price, if you really think you are going to use it.
@Barney I already cancelled it. I read the thread for the last air fryer Meh sold and they said it’s only good for stuff I shouldn’t be eating anyway. Plus I have a convection toaster oven. I’ve never actually pushed the convection button but I assume it works.
Thank you for making me think twice about it.
@sammydog01 Great, now I’ll get blamed when MorningSave goes bankrupt for lack of sales.
@Barney @sammydog01 um no, it is not your fault. Blame the scapegoat!
@aetris votes for the party you don’t like.
@Barney @sammydog01 use the convection. It circulates hot air. Air fryer… Circulates hot air and depending on the model, it spins the food.
Amz: Sun Joe 1350 Max PSI 1.45 GPM 10-Amp Electric Pressure Washer for $45 and free shipping.

@ruouttaurmind Promotion has ended?
@ruouttaurmind They’re sorry, @medz, but you can still browse products from the promotion on the page below. :annoyed:
@medz @therealjrn Yup, it appears the deal is dead.
@medz @ruouttaurmind It really wasn’t for me any way. I still have SO MANY DVD’s to watch some day.
@medz @therealjrn
The “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” promo on Amazon Movies and TV seems to be back in business.
@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn says buy 3 get 1 free…
@medz @ruouttaurmind I’m going to wait until it’s buy 4.
@medz @therealjrn Why must Amazon keep screwing with me?
Home Depot: Husky 50 ft. 12/3 Lighted Triple Tap Extension Cord for $19.88 and free in-store pickup.
@ruouttaurmind Kind of funny that it says the regular price is $24.88. Where’d you pay $30 for it?
@cinoclav @ruouttaurmind Rounding with tax.
@cinoclav Yup, as @mike808 suggested, total with tax was about $28.
@mike808 @ruouttaurmind Huh? You’d have to be paying about 13% in sales tax to hit $28. If you live somewhere with a tax rate that high, move.
@cinoclav @mike808
WE DEMAND AN IMMEDIATE INQUIRY OF @ruouttaurmind’s PURCHASES.
@cinoclav @ruouttaurmind
@cinoclav
@ruouttaurmind @mike808 You guys are taking this way too seriously.
@mike808 Thanks for the politics. There isn’t enough of that flying around in the forums.
It’s all good, @cinoclav. I was just playing along. Sry if my reply seemed over the edge of sarcasm.
@ruouttaurmind
@cinoclav @ruouttaurmind
Oh, okay. I get it. Your comment on relocating to avoid sales tax was just a joke. Like asking China to interfere with the 2020 election. /s
/image empty chicken coop
This is what happens when @mike808 runs out of people to troll on the fark.com politics tab.
Don’t be ridiculous, @mike808. Anyone who knows anything can tell you China is not going to interfere with the 2020 election. It’ll be Latvia.
/image Riga
@mike808 @ruouttaurmind I think you’re confusing me with jrn’s politics.
@cinoclav @mike808 @ruouttaurmind So we’re all in agreement then? That is awesome Clavvy!
KRULL! A SKULL! BRETT HULL! AWESOME!
@cinoclav @ruouttaurmind @therealjrn
You say that as if we are in a democracy.
I welcome our new Latvian overlords.
@cinoclav @mike808 @ruouttaurmind @therealjrn I would like to visit Latvia.
Morningsave just launched their Fall Mystery Boxes.
Priced at $29 for the 5-piece box, $39 for the 8-piece, and $49 for the 10-piece. Seems to me I paid $30 for the deluxe 10 piece last time, so maybe this doesn’t belong in the “Deals” topic after all? Bollocks.
@ruouttaurmind It’s a deal because they aren’t $60 this time.
@ruouttaurmind Well they aren’t by sex this time… Since most of what they sell is for women I’d guess they don’t have enough “man stuff” to make a distinction.
@Kidsandliz Good point. I was contemplating springing for one, but it’s likely I’ll wind up with $50 worth of beauty products or handbags.
@ruouttaurmind I am in for the eight piece box!
@ruouttaurmind you could always share with your mom
@tinamarie1974 I have six boxes of girly stuff I tried to share with my mom, including a Coach wallet, and seven handbags from Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and Radley. Tons of the beauty stuff Morningsave sells, and lots of (gender neutral) kitcheny stuff, appliances, etc.
The one thing she took was behind door #3 (my desk chair). That wasn’t even in the showcase! FML.
@ruouttaurmind uuummmmmm that sounds like a sweet offer for your mom. Can’t imagine why she turned you down?!?!?

Woot-Off in progress
Okay, got my Basket of Chipmunks. Ta-ta.
@therealjrn Didn’t we just have a Woot-off?
@therealjrn hope it is a good one. Got mine last week and it was less than “meh”
@sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 TT said: “We’re playing around with some stuff” Whatever that means…it’s all good. My personally selected BOC from that Star Trek actor turned out pretty good.
@sammydog01 @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 I haven’t gotten a good BoC in a very long time. I’ve quietly (or maybe not quietly now) resolved not to go after them anymore. Sour grapes? No, I’m able to get them if I want them, but they just aren’t worth the cost.
@therealjrn Woot-off? What? Where did that come from!
Since they’ve found a way to confound/hobble @lichme 's BoC stalking, it’s been too much effort.
The reason mediocrebot keeps hanging out up in here and disrupting our threads is because someone keeps starring the postings.
@walarney It pops up in the forum first- look under woot-off. Or not.
@ruouttaurmind I love mediocrebot. Be nice to him. (Or he may murder you.)
@sammydog01
I think you recommended that strategy a while ago. After Woot killed Wootstalker’s functionality. I’ve been using it (and loving it) ever since.
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 I had @lichme’s woot-off BOC alert going, but it lagged behind me seeing it first. But it did work.
This Woot-off is a bit of a fizzle. Since I don’t qualify for a BOC I guess I can get busy and have a productive day after all.
/sigh (you know, there really should be a slash command for <sigh> although I have no clue what it would look like.
@ruouttaurmind I’m not sure what the deal is - looks like maybe they are testing some computer stuff.
@sammydog01 They’re testing the new format: All Woot-off, all the time.
@therealjrn did they end it early? I’m not seeing a woot off.
@craigthom @therealjrn It ran for a few hours.
@ruouttaurmind @Barney @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 Well, the BOC’s from this last test Wootoff are arriving. Mine is posted here: https://forums.woot.com/t/october-craps-post-them-here/478771/83
They look okay, I was pleased with mine. Lots of crap to give to my daughter and the grands anyway.

@mediocrebot Stay out of this you nosy bot.
@Barney @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @therealjrn looks good! I must say my BOC arrived and was ok. Had a Halloween mask, an interesring book and some other stuff.
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
I’m still not convinced that BoC’s are worth anything anymore. I guess I’ll give all of the other suckers a chance. cough cough
@Barney @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 Are yer drawers gettin’ full Barn?
@therealjrn Looking like a decent bit of kit.
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
No, I’m just tired.
@Barney @ruouttaurmind what costumes?
@mehbee Oh, gosh, I’ll have to check when I get home tonight. Over the last four or five BOCs I’ve received at least half a dozen different costumes. Maybe as many as 8 or 9. I’ll try to remember to dig them up when I get home.
DBROTH via Amz: Gas Spring Dual Monitor Mount for $30 and free shipping. (clip the $20 off coupon on the product page for this price)
I ordered this last week and just finished installing it. Routed the cables through the arms and now everything is all neat and tidy. I’m satisfied with my purchase for precisely $32.57 including sales tax. Of course your exact total will vary depending on your state, county and local sales tax rates.
@ruouttaurmind it is good that you precisely mentioned the exact total, including tax. I hear there are a few sticklers on this site!
@ruouttaurmind @tinamarie1974
Did you pay sales tax on shipping?
You should look into that.
@mike808 No sales tax was charged for shipping because there was no shipping charge. Amz eligible purchases of $25 or more qualify for free shipping.

@therealjrn Do a return and rebuy and you’ll save $3.26. Now, that’s something to “woot” about!
@therealjrn You should move to Delaware. Or Montana.
@sammydog01 Is 8.5% sales tax high? They never seem to ever take back those extra pennies and half-cent temporary increases we voters stupidly approve. Over and over.
@sammydog01 @therealjrn

@therealjrn I only get the “heavy duty”. I thought maybe just using more regular would be just as good, but I was wrong. The regular rips more easily.
@therealjrn I bought this deal some time ago. You should have seen my spouse’s eyes light-up when she opened the drawer. “So much aluminum foil!”
@medz @therealjrn I got foil in my last bag o crap – my husband was jealous that I received a roll of foil and he got some craptastic tote bag hahahah

Amazon Warehouse Deals: 20% off select items throughout 24 Warehouse departments.
@ruouttaurmind You’re a terrible influence. Fortunately there aren’t any fancy bean bag chairs in the sale.

WTF is this thing?
Well, it’s a 10.1" Android tablet which becomes a virtual Echo Show when you place it in it’s (included) docking station. Just like Amazon’s Fire HD 10 with a Show Mode charging dock… but not.
Why would this be better than a Fire HD 10 with Show Mode dock? It’s not neutered by Amazon. It’s got a real, genuine version of Android, decent speakers in the dock, and no “special offers” nonsense. Plus it’s about $70 less than the Amz tablet and dock.
/image Lenovo Smart Tab M10
@ruouttaurmind Nice! I have the last one you made me buy so I don’t need this one. (I don’t use it much but it’s nice when I do.)
@sammydog01 This one is actually Alexa powered rather than Google Assistant powered. Probably would have been a better fit into the sammydog01isphere. But the other one was about half this price, so,
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ruouttaurmind I already own the other one so it’s free. That’s how it works, right? The other one looks fancier too. And the time is giant. GIANT!
Woot.com: Sunco Lighting 4 Pack, 4-foot LED Utility Shop Lights for $57 and free Prime shipping, or whatever they charge for non-Prime.
@ruouttaurmind not seeing mention on the sale page about hard-wiring… I want to swap out existing fixtures and just use wire nuts to connect it up.
@ruouttaurmind Well I’m out of line on the pricing myself. $54 for a 10 pack after the 10% coupon.
https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B01CRB8ITO
@ruouttaurmind @narfcake
Got one of them done. Spliced into the existing wiring where the old fixture was wired in.
new on left - still need to do some cable management
This seems to have been wired a bit janky, but it’s a detached shop, so I just embraced the jankiness.
It works!
@medz @narfcake @ruouttaurmind Nice! You already got your lights? My order is still “preparing for shipment” I wouldn’t have had time to mess with them anyway…
Did you put longer mounting chains on your lights @medz? Those chains don’t look like the picture in the sale.
@medz Looking good. Are they nice and bright?
@therealjrn Mine are scheduled for delivery Monday afternoon. Been in transit (from Riverside, CA) since Thursday afternoon.
@narfcake @ruouttaurmind @therealjrn those were the chains provided. I obviously didn’t use the extension cables to make it hang lower.
Pretty bright, alright. Might not flood out quite as much as the fluorescent ones, but should be good.
Amz: DEWALT Hog Ring Pliers Kit for $12.88 and free Prime shipping or free shipping with $25 order.
@raccoon81 Once you have it, you’ll probably find a dozen things I didn’t even mention.
@ruouttaurmind That’s what you’ve told us about everything we’ve bought that you have recommended.
@Barney Consistency is a good thing, right?
If you decide you can’t live without hog ring pliers, let me know so I can find you a great deal on a toolbox to store them in. The Drawer of Misguided Purchases must certainly be full to capacity by now.
@ruouttaurmind Haha, at least you didn’t call me a troll like someone called me earlier today.
@Barney @ruouttaurmind so your drawer of misguided purchased is in the GARAGE??? Huh, interesting
@ruouttaurmind @tinamarie1974 I really am trying to cut back on my spending and not because my drawer is full to overflowing, even though it is (and the drawer is in my bedroom, or at least it was the last time I looked).
@ruouttaurmind in I like that! I am going to start blaming my credit card too!!
@Barney @ruouttaurmind well that is where mine is too! I thought drawers of misguided purchases were always in ones nightstand!
@tinamarie1974 Um… not those kind of purchases!
@ruouttaurmind @tinamarie1974 i think that is what the meh exchange is for. Can’t you imagine someone trying to figure out what hog pliers are? Random yet odd and useful is perfect for meh exchange.

Walmart: Ozark Trail 4 Person A-Frame Tent with Awning for $35 and free shipping or free in-store pickup where avialble.
Expect this one to disappear in short order.
The nice thing about this style A-frame? VERY easy for one person to set up. So if you’re an anti-social loner like me, this one is a good option for solo camping excursions. About a pound and a half, so not ideal for backpacking, but not out of range either.
@ruouttaurmind Where does it plug in?
@therealjrn Right there->
@ruouttaurmind Nice! I would like a tent. I probably would never use it.
@medz might need some of this when he rewires his lighting fixtures. I just ordered 100’ to rework some stuff at the new house and run a couple additional outlets in my shop. Maybe @therealjrn should lay in a few rolls because it really is a great price for small lots.
Amz: Southwire Romex SIMpull 14/2 NM-B residential electrical wire, 25’ roll for $4.94 and free Prime shipping.
Suitable for exposed or non-exposed normally dry locations. Not suitable for frequently submerged situations. So don’t use this to rewire your submarine.

@ruouttaurmind I found one!

@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn photo of the actual sub:
@ruouttaurmind 14/2 is good for lighting circuits. However if you are planning to wire outlets you really should use 12/2 that is yellow exterior.
/giphy electrical fire
@raccoon81 @ruouttaurmind @therealjrn
Does it work on spaceships?
This is like the one I had as a kid.
Five bucks each at Target. Guess what I’m doing the day before Halloween?
Anyone have any experience with Sugru?
I’ve been hearing about it for years, thought of trying it many times, but I don’t have a specific project in mind.
Seems like really useful stuff though, and I think if I had it on hand, I’d suddenly find many uses for it.
In any case, the “Hacks for your Home” kit is currently on sale at Walmart for $5.50, which is apparently very cheap, so thinking about getting some… although, shipping is $5.99 unless you spend $35, but shipping to store for pickup is free.
Not sure if I’ll pull the trigger or not…

edit: even w/ the shipping, it still beats any other deals I could find…
Power came back on, so I bought 2…
And now, it’s nap time.
Forgot the instructables link: https://www.instructables.com/member/projectsugru/instructables/
This is the shower hack…
https://www.instructables.com/id/Bath-Shower-leak-solution/
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@Nate311 Thank you!
My Sugru is about as squishy as Laffy Taffy.
Good to know it’s more robust than I assumed.
Time to fix some stuff!
Well, Uncle Jeff is at it again. Word got out that I posted the 14/2 NM Romex deal here, so he pulled stock and the cake is a lie. But here’s an interesting alternative:
Amz: Southwire Romex SIMpull 14/2 UF electrical wire, 100’ roll for $22.80 and free Prime shipping or free shipping with $25 order.

This TP-Link N300 WiFi Range Extender/AP has been running a $5 off coupon for a couple months. Now it’s $6 off.
Amz: TP-Link N300 WiFi Range Extender/AP for $14 and free Prime shipping or free shipping with $25 order. Clip the $6 coupon on the product listing page.
@djslack I’ve had it installed on my surveillance DVR for well over a year and never a single glitch. It just works. Always.
@djslack @ruouttaurmind
It sure has. Your surveillance DVR has provided the internet with hours of live entertainment all over the globe.
Check your exposed always-on, IOT, and home IP addresses against Shodan and other external scans to see how exposed you really are.
@mike808
I find that most curious since my surveillance DVR lives on an isolated network hosted by a dedicated router which goes nowhere.
@cengland0
@cengland0
@djslack @ruouttaurmind
So you two don’t agree with the 26% 1 or 2-star ratings? Dumb user syndrome for those reviews?
I had consistently heard these powerline wifi extenders were wonky.
Deal still active, tempted…
@RedOak the powerline part is a separate netgear thing i had.
I am using the tp-link as an AP, not as a repeater. I’ve done repeaters plenty in the past and know repeating can sometimes be finicky, which probably contributes to poor reviews (I havent gone back and read them).
I did have the wifi in my shop act wonky last night but it may have been due to storms. Every time it storms bad the gfci trips and so it was powered down most of yesterday from storms the night before. Thats the first issue I’ve had and a power cycle brought it right back.
@djslack Aha, thanks, I misunderstood the above device as a powerline extender.
Perhaps I’ll await Mesh routers coming down in price…
@RedOak I use them as AP for non-wifi devices. But in my mother’s previous house I set three up as repeaters for the wifi camera system I installed there. I worked with it for three days without any issues, and she lived with it for a couple years and never complained of any issues. In AP mode I’ve lived with them for about three years and don’t recall any issue at all.
I am an office supply whore… I get it…

@VolMod @therealjrn @mikibell There was nothing wrong with the original link. We like the real thing, none of that chopped stuff.
@Barney @therealjrn Thank you @barney! Original link gave dealnews credit, I believe…
@mikibell @therealjrn It doesn’t bother me who gets the credit.
@Barney @therealjrn huh… I missed that, obviously since I put the long ass link I am sure I will do worse things in life!!!

@msklzannie swweeett… I still say there is a market for the cameo 3… Cameo 4 is a different aminal

This is a targeted S&S coupon, 1 bag/unit, 1 time-use. It applies to the pet category, not just Dr. Elseys, or not just cat litter. There are different discounts being offered, so YMMV on the 40%. Max value is capped at $50 discount.

Also, the fall season kicks off 5% cash back categories for Discover and Chase Freedom cards, so don’t forget to activate them.

Stop spamming the forum with your specific bank cards.
@therealjrn Since when is Slickdeals spam? I love Slickdeals. I once wrote them a haiku which they promptly deleted. I guess they don’t love me.
@therealjrn Does Meh offer a competing credit card? Didn’t think so.
/image cup of stfu
@mike808 @therealjrn Does Amazon compete with Meh? Maybe? Just a little? And yet they let us post Amazon deals because Meh is cool. Are you cool?
@sammydog01 @therealjrn
“Alexa, tell me about big data abuse.”
@mike808 @therealjrn I bet Slickdeals has a good deal on tin foil hats if you need more.
@mike808 @sammydog01 He’s not being very cool today, he’s in his trollish mode. Why do you have to be such a big mean troll all the time Mike?

Southwire Building Wire 14 Ga, 2 Conductor 15 Amp 600 V 90 Deg C 50 ’ White for $12 at Woot
https://sellout.woot.com/offers/southwire-building-wire-2-conductor?ref=mike808_is_still_a_looser_that_posts_a_bunch_of_shit_all_the_time
^^^ Proof @therealjrn is a loser that values ignorance over intellect.
@mike808 U R the moran, U looser.
@mike808 @therealjrn NEMA code specifies 14/2 as suitable for 120VAC 15 ampere circuits, and is the most common size used in the US for residential branch and lighting circuits.
@mikibell
“Add it to the list, Mom.” SMH.
@mikibell @ruouttaurmind There are some real dodgy 3-leg hookups used to wire up ceiling fan/light combos with a switch.
On-site innovation, I believe is the technical term of art for practitioners.

It has favorable reviews, more so than the solutions garage door manufacturers put out that are not very stable and require paid subscriptions to be useful.

@djslack
@ruouttaurmind from memory i think if you want any of the integrations beyond direct control from their app (Alexa, Google, ifttt, etc) it’s $2.99/mo.
The stability issues were from reviews, I have no direct experience with myq myself.
Also available: The Wyze Smart Home Starter Pack for $99. Ships free with code WYZEDAY2019
The kit includes:
A $119 value, plus whatever the normal cost of shipping
Smays via Amazon: 3-Pack, 26 foot Wyze Cam* Power Cable for $17 and free Prime shipping or free shipping with $25 order. (clip the $3 coupon on the product listing page)
Includes three 26 foot cables, USB Type A to Micro-USB for added flexibility when mounting your Wyze cameras or other USB powered devices.
*Also compatible with Zmodo, Blink, Yi Home Camera, Kasa Cam and most devices requiring a Micro-USB cable.

But for most of the general shopping populace, this is the key takeaway:

Err. Wait. That didnt come out right.

Your sister…does she “go”? Ay? Ay? Know what I mean?

@medz Say no more…
Target has cube organizers half price. I just got the 8 cube ones with 13" openings for $ 35. Gray, white, brown
@OldCatLady Thanks, my bots needed a place to sit. They also had 3x3 cubes for $40 and 2x2 for $20.
@OldCatLady @sammydog01 Did you get the gray ones so that dust doesn’t show on them?
@Barney @OldCatLady That’s a super idea! Except they didn’t have gray at my store.
@Barney @sammydog01 No, white 'cause I’m such a clean freak. JK. I may go back tomorrow for another.

Lenovo product page here.

Amazon: LEGO City Great Vehicles Kayak Adventure 60240 Building Kit, 84 Pieces for $6.39 and free Prime shipping or free shipping with $25 order.
MSRP $10, normally $8, soon to be retired.
Oh, as an added bonus it includes a
LEGO Leak Frog!
@ruouttaurmind How do you know when it will be retired? I bought one to resell for about how much the ones on woot go for. (over $40-$50)
@medz Guesstimation including: Limited distro, minimal sales/popularity, age of production cycle, and discount trends.

I’d been looking at this stuff for crafting so I jumped on this deal.
https://sellout.woot.com/offers/hayes-paper-co-premium-waterslide-decal-paper?ref=ref%3Dcnt_wp_0_93
@msklzannie That’s pretty cool stuff. Times like this I wish I still had an inkjet printer.
@ruouttaurmind They also make it for laser printers.
@msklzannie @ruouttaurmind
But those aren’t clearance priced are they?
@msklzannie
GTK. I could have fun with those. Searching for a deal on those now…
@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn Nope, not clearanced. Normal prices are considerably higher too.
@msklzannie You’re not kidding! Couple bucks a sheet for some brands. Even more for the bake-on stuff.
@ruouttaurmind Hayes is the brand that Jennifer Maker recommends. She’s more into Cricut, but she creates svg designs that we can use with our Cameos.
https://jennifermaker.com/waterslide-decal-tutorial/
@msklzannie @ruouttaurmind you are a bad influence!
@mikibell @ruouttaurmind Who, me?.. My dad always says, “When you find something you’re good at, stick with it.”
It’s back: Home Depot is once again offering a Husky 50 ft. 12/3 Lighted Triple Tap Extension Cord for $19.88 and free in-store pickup.
I own one, but I have no comment about my exact purchase price, TYVM. Let’s not go down that rabbit hole again.
@ruouttaurmind someone is feeling cheeky tonight!
Amazon: LEGO NASA Apollo Saturn V Rocket kit 21309 Building Kit, 1969 pieces (I bet they did that on purpose) for $90 and free Prime shipping or free shipping with $25 order.
Also available at Walmart.
MSRP is $120, normally sells for $120. It was $80 last Black Friday, so this is the second lowest price ever per the tri-dromedary.
A very wise man recently recommended this kit as a “buy and hold” option. Uncle Jeffy was listening and commanded his minions to offer you this discounted price today.
I’ve been wanting to build this kit since it was announced, but alas, my budget does not concur.
/image LEGO Saturn V kit 21309
@ruouttaurmind Cool set. I wish I could buy one. I need to save up for the gingerbread cottage.
@sammydog01 Property taxes for me. Two houses, due by the end of November.
@ruouttaurmind not on sale, but did you see the mustang? That is pretty!
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 We pay our taxes in halvsies due before January 1st and the second half by March 31st.
I had an oopsie on one of my properties one year…you don’t ever want to oopsie your property taxes. I paid in May and they nicked me for 6% interest.
@mikibell I’m not generally a Furd fan, but I definitely admire that kit. It’s one of the sweetest Creator kits they offer. Definitely better than the Technic cars.
@therealjrn
Ouch. 16% statutory rate here, plus they tack on every conceivable fee they can dream up.
@ruouttaurmind
Ow! I don’t feel so bad now. Still, you made me go look to make sure I can cover the first half due in December…of course they’ll graciously accept full payment then too. Even when I have it I like to make them wait.
Amazon: Spend $50 on select, already discounted LEGO items, save $10. Discount automagically applied at checkout.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Thought y’all would like to know WOOT! just listed a $10 off coupon code valid until 11:50 tonight. Happy shopping
Code: cauldron
@tinamarie1974 That whole “chase after a door” thing was pretty hard. I think they didn’t want to release too many good deals…like 5 of each item or something.
It reminded me of the old woot thing where they had the mansion I think it was?
Anyway, I got a $3 plushie.
@therealjrn @tinamarie1974 I got a $3 plushie with a $1 off coupon! It was exciting.
@mossygreen @tinamarie1974 Woo!
@tinamarie1974 finished.
Yer such a perv, @mediocrebot
Geez, @sammydog01 return the Overdrive sets. You’ll feel so much better.
@Barney But it’s for Christmas! I probably should return them.
@sammydog01 If it’s for Christmas, then it’s okay to keep them.
@sammydog01 ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?!?
She’s not listening to me.
@sammydog01 let me know how much you want for it.
@Barneybot isn’t a real bot.
@sammydog01 scratch that. Apparently they use a different size than some pens I’ve seen.
@RiotDemon They use a proprietary size so you have to buy it from them. And yeah, the stuff it makes looks like crap. But it’s kind of fun.
@sammydog01 I’m assuming it might be therapeutic like a puzzle. I might be annoyed at the end result because I’m so damn picky, lol
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 Just plan ahead on making something hideous and janky!
@sammydog01
Do you own a set?
@mossygreen @RiotDemon Did you say hideous and janky? Sometimes I doodle coloring book pages. It’s fun. They look like shit. I had a lot of gold plastic when I did this.
@sammydog01 I guess hideous and janky is my milieu 'cause I dig it. And I still say the llama is awesome.
OWLS! TOWELS! JOWLS! AWESOME!
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 my target had a couple of the fire trucks, about 5 ice trucks, and several guardian cars along with a couple of starter sets. Same prices you’ve seen.
@djslack @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01
What’s with Ice-52? Performance seems to be lacking.
