1/4-inch shank, carbide tipped, this set includes a variety of shapes for edge-forming, surface-forming, straight cuts, mortising and joinery.
At $2.30 per bit this is an excellent starter set for someone wanting to experiment with routing techniques and learning how to use a router rather than destroying high dollar Freud bits.
This set was a Black Friday deal at Lowe’s back in 2017 for $50, but has hovered around $85-$100 since. The set was $110 at Home Depot, but it looks like they’ve reduced their price to $71, keeping pace with Lowe’s. Amazon is only available from Marketplace sellers, so no competitive PM.
Morningsave.com: Get this Dremel 3D printer for $239 by using coupon code NOFOOLING on checkout. I think that might be a VMP/Member only discount code? If you don’t already have one of those memberships, it’s definitely worth the $4.99 price for one month to get the discount and free shipping.
@OldCatLady yep. I got an extra ‘buck-fiddy’ today when I ordered and opted to wait an extra day on a 2 week out window. I’m up about $10.50 and need to see what I can parlay that into.
Today (4/5) only, if you have a Casey’s Rewards account, you can get a large pizza for half-price with the code SAVE50. (I don’t know if this will discount multiple pizzas on a single order or if it will only be applied to 1 pizza.)
The code can only be used once per account and is only useable with an account. Order in-app, online, or by calling your local Casey’s… but make sure to order early enough because store hours (vary by location) have been changed due to the pandemic. (My store used to close at midnight but now closes at 8pm; the kitchen closes an hour beforehand.)
@djslack Speaking of which, I keep wondering why the hell does O’Reilly advertise on Philly radio when the closest stores are over 3 hours away?! Big waste of advertising dollars.
@devyanks90 Normally stations, even under the umbrella of a nationwide company, will only target the specific broadcast locations. This way they can sell more advertising to local companies. O’Reilly seems to be the only company that I consistently hear ads for yet doesn’t have stores locally. It’s just weird.
Alright all you fools. @f00l has prompted me to post a “deal” I put “deal” in quotes because it isn’t really a bargain, but it isn’t too expensive, and perhaps it might be of use to some people.
I recently got some black cloth masks from Etsy which are very fashionable as masks go but I’ve been looking for some black nitrile gloves to complete my ensemble. As we’ve been discussing, some of these Covid commissary items are available at places one might not ordinarily go. I found some at Tractor Supply for $14 a box of 100. Check your area store availability. I found mine about 14 miles outside of Tulsa. Well, I wanted to get out for a country drive anyway.
I haven’t loved the couple Ridgid tools I’ve owned, but that’s been a few years so maybe the quality has improved. This saw comes with a “Free Parts and Service for Life with Registration” service agreement, but they stop short of making it a lifetime warranty. For the price though, this looks like a great value. I’m still holding out for a deal on a cabinet saw with a much larger table, and dado capability. Can’t use adjustable dado blades with this Ridgid.
Durable enough for the heaviest of projects
Features a 10 in. blade
Ability to rip through 4 in. x 4 in. material in a single pass for fast, accurate cuts
Front and back clamping fence which features integrated T-slots that give ability to hold select accessories
Maximum cut depth of 2-1/4 in. at 45 and 3-1/2 in. at
90 for a variety of useful cuts
Lifetime Service Agreement with registration within 90 days of purchase
Someone named Martha Wells wrote a series of books about Murderbot. AND THEY’RE FREE THIS WEEK AT TOR.COM! I’m not sure if it’s our Murderbot or a different Murderbot but all Murderbots are cool, right?
Normally $45 ($40 on Amz) this kit includes 450 weather resistant Blue-Kote pocket screws in assorted sizes for outdoor projects. Price varies depending on store stock and location. Check this BS linky for price and availability in your area.
Blue-Kote™ Screws feature three anti-corrosion layers, making them the perfect choice for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor projects. Blue-Kote™ Screws provide rust-resistance up to 400% greater than zinc-plated screws and work with pressure-treated material.
@ruouttaurmind@tinamarie1974 Maybe we could pick a time, round up a few people, and do a whisper thing? I could read out the cards or take photos maybe?
If you are going to order, be careful, don’t be an idiot like me. I accidentally set one of the shoes as pickup and the other one for delivery. I had to leave work early to pick up the shoes because they are only open when I’m at work.
This box was featured on day 27 of @blaineg’s most excellent Toy Day series. Now is your chance to live the dream while chasing away the malaise of social distancing by throwing yourself into crafting. Or don’t. Malaise is kinda like that, innit.
Walmart: Wonder Woman 1 Cup Coffee Maker for $14.86. Alas, ship-to-store is not available, so you’ll have to buy three to meet the $35 free ship-to-home requirement. But that’s ok, you can put one in the kitchen, one in the bedroom and take one to the office?
If you’re one of the people who Ebags sent a $10 account credit expiring today, And you don’t have anything better to spend it on, may I recommend this gatemouth toiletry bag. It’s a nice dopp kit and it only cost me sixty-nine cents after the credit. For ten bucks this is a nice bag, for sixty-nine cents this is a Great bag.
The Tor.com Ebook Club Selection for April 2020 is…
THE TRAITOR BARU CORMORANT by Seth Dickinson
Baru Cormorant believes any price is worth paying to liberate her people-even her soul.
When the Empire of Masks conquers her island home, overwrites her culture, criminalizes her customs, and murders one of her fathers, Baru vows to swallow her hate, join the Empire’s civil service, and claw her way high enough to set her people free.
Drawn by the intriguing duchess of distant Aurdwynn, Tain Hu, into a circle of seditious dukes, Baru may be able to use her position to help. As she pursues a precarious balance between the rebels and a shadowy cabal within the Empire, she orchestrates a do-or-die gambit with freedom as the prize.
But the cost of winning the long game of saving her people may be far greater than Baru imagines.
Includes 1,500 minutes, 1,500 texts, 1500MB data. That’s total, for the year, not each month. But sixty bucks though. This is ideal for someone like my mom who has used maybe 8 minutes of talk, zero text and zero data in the last three months. She’s currently paying $25/mo for Cricket, so this deal would pay for itself in about 2-1/2 months.
Or I guess if you need a burner for some <air quote> totally legal </air quote> purpose…
¯_(ツ)_/¯ I didn’t dig that deep since mom will only have to wait a couple weeks until her current billing cycle is coming to a close.
I also didn’t look into number porting. I’m not sure she’s gonna love giving up her Tennessee number for a local, so I guess I’d better check into that.
I got the email about this and at the bottom it said:

@ruouttaurmind I have rental property and would like to get a better pool pump timer and irrigation timer but they require internet. This seems like it could be a cheap way for me to tether and get internet over there. Don’t need much data for those two devices and wouldn’t need to place phone calls at all. Would just need a plastic waterproof box with electricity outside and keep it plugged into the charger 24 hours a day. Hmmm…
@cengland0 They only require cloud access during the programming/scheduling process, don’t they? I can’t imagine they would sit there like paperweights if they loose their wifi connection?
@ruouttaurmind The irrigation system (Rachio) gets weather forecast data daily and uses that information to determine if it should water. You can also turn on zones manually and it is Alexa compatible.
The pool timer settings needs to be changed several times throughout the year. Very expensive to run that pump so you want to have it on for fewer hours if possible so I’d like to reduce the hours in the winter and increase it in the summer.
There’s a free audiobook program for teens every summer. I’ve used it in the past and they never asked my age- I don’t think they care. You need to register. https://www.audiobooksync.com
@sammydog01 I signed up for that last summer and grabbed a few titles. After spending hours trying to get them imported into the Audible player for iOS I finally stumbled across the solution, only to discover Audible refused to play them due to some DRM mumbo jumbo.
Or, save a few bucks and whisper me. I have a brand new in the box Spot I will sell on the cheap-ish with free Priority shipping. I also have 3rd gen Dots and a couple 2nd gen Echos, all NIB.

@ruouttaurmind There is nothing wrong in offering to sell something of yours, here, in this thread and if anyone objects, they can put their objection where the sun don’t shine.
@mediocrebot Ya, I set myself up for that one, innit.

@OldCatLady they have now backed that off to $1.50 after not even offering it at all for a little while.
@chienfou Very few things qualify, too. Never mind, I’ll take what I can get. Don’t worry, be happy is my motto today.

@cinoclav @djslack The stations are owned by a company with stations across the country and O’Reilly negotiates a company-wide ad deal.
I agree it makes no sense. I went to a LaSalle basketball game last year and they had O’Reilly signs next to the court…
